Triple Signing

I think some people are losing perspective with this Hendrie signing. We shouldn't really be spending £20,000 a week on players.

Agree, frankly he's not worth it and it will only be detrimental to relationships within the team... but i wouldnt be surprised to hear that its a figure put about by him or his agent in order in influence any offers he might get, i mean it is not in our interests for this kind of infomation to get leaked and the only person who it benifits is Hendrie and his agent so my money would be on this being a "leak" from his end and could well simply be fabricated.

I agree, I don't actually think it's necessary or will it engender a good team spirit, better an inexpensive 'foreigner' I'm sure there must be someone good enough.

Wonder how much Kish is on?

About £10k I'd guesstimate.

I don't like the idea of someone coming in on £20k a week if our highest first-team earners pre-Mandaric were/are on about £7k.

You can argue about ambition but is he value for money on that sort of wage? I'm not convinced. For that money I'd want someone as influential as Michael Brown was for Sheffield United the year we got promoted or Jason Koumas was for Cardiff when he was on loan there. I don't think Hendrie would have that sort of impact personally.

That said, it's Mandaric's money and I'd pleased with the signing if it happened. I still don't think it will though. Sheffield United are in a better position than us and I think he will probably end up there.

its really no different to signing a 1million pound player and paying him 10,000 a week...

Agreed but then again if we want to push for promotion this is the kind of risk MM must begin to take. £20,000 a week is very high at this level but I would love Hendrie to join us.

Yeah... in terms of the cash we'll be burning your quite right, but in terms of the impact it could have within the team (esspeically considering these are wages that could be being spent on a player who attitude might well be suspect at best) it could be far more detrimental with a player collecting twice what most of our new signings will probably be on in terms of wages.

But i dont think he wants to come and frankly i think he's overated, wouldnt have minded landing him, but frankly i think he and his agent has talked himself out of a deal with us if Sheff Utd what him their welcome to him as far as I'm concerned.

Well actually it is, maybe not in overall cash spent but the impact on the team of having one player on 2 or 3 times more than the others will cause resentment especially if he's not seen to be pulling his weight.

I know you can argue that no team pays all it's players the same wage but you have to take into account the levels of pay, extent of the variation and the circumstances that have brought the players together.

Its not the same at all. If you found out that your colleague was getting paid two or three times as much as you for doing the same job how would that make you feel?

You would feel crap yes but this is a slightly different situation, the fact is at LCFC if Hendrie came (please god yes) he would do a better job than the others, he knows he can demand what he wants really from CCC clubs because of the job he did at Stoke last season.

I have never rated robson as a manager and if he wants to go there then he is definately the wrong sort of player for us..

I dont think its wrong to have 1 or 2 players who are considered the better players of the club- it could be detrimental to the cohesian of the team but it also might inspire the other players ' work hard, play well and look what you could earn'....

i guess it has its good and bad sides to it... one thing for sure... it benefits the team on the park. Having said that i still remember collymore scoring for Forest and turning round to celebrate and all the team had walked off in the other direction. lol.

Or he could sign for 20k per week and put in half the effort of the players on 5k.

And van Hooijdonk. Must be a Forest thing.

I think it depends on how short sighted the rest of the team are. If we can sign some quality players and they are on £20,000 a week it doesnt matter as long as they are worth that £20,000 on the pitch. If they are we stand a chance of getting promoted in the short term. If those players that are not on this money now could be when we get to the premiership (providing they are good enough to play at that level).

From a point of job satisfaction you must prefer to be in a side that is winning than one that is losing, better players help this happen.

It is part of football and happens at many clubs, I am sure that MA will be able to keep this in check.

I don't think any of us know that for sure. He's touting himself around to the highest bidder, and at this stage of his career you can't blame him, he's not from Leicester and as far as I'm aware he's never supported us, why would he rather come here than say Sheff Utd or even Stoke?

As for him being on double wages to every body else I'm guessing that's a common occurrence at bigger, more successful teams than ours.

I just don't agree with paying new players that much more than everyone else. If a player works hard for the team or scores 25 goals in a season than a new contract thats bigger than everyone elses is justified and sets a good example to the rest of the squad. I just don't see how bringing a player who hasn't been playing regularly for his club and paying him that much money could be good for team morale. Its not just about are you getting 20k's worth of perfomance for the player...its also about the example it sets to the team. Teamwork and spirit are the most important ingredient in building a successful team.

Chelsea are a good example of this. They brought in Sheva and Ballack and it broke the mentality that Maureen had instilled within his players and they lost the title. You can't pay someone 2x a week more than the rest of the squad for long before they start wanting to be on similar wages. We have already seen this before at Leicester and we went into administration because of it.

every single team up and down the country will have players earning more than others. some of those teams get promoted, others wont. you could use both sides of the story to justify your reasoning, but a quality signing from the lower divisions will understand they will get paid far less than someone who has been regularly playing in the prem.

but what MM DOES have to consider is his attitude. thats where the gamble lays...

Some bone head from down the way informed me that we’re apparently trying to sign Jason Koumas, is this true? Ludicrous

Do you really need to ask?

so hendrie is 'the same' as hughes?

football doesnt work like that i'm afraid.

I didn't say they were the same, I said they did the same job. I don't object at all to players getting paid better wages than others but 20k is a huge amount more than anyone else is on and with Hendrie's attitude I don't think it would help team spirit at all.

has hughes player in the premier?

more like an underachieving championship player, of course he is worth less in wages.

If you read the post I never mentioned Stephen Hughes (another poster did) nor did I say that they should both be earning the same amount of money. Just out of interest though...when were Hendrie's last five first team starts in the Premiership?
