fox123 Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Just goes to show the scumbags that live there! Linkage People living in some UK cities face almost double the chance of being burgled as those in more secure areas, according to a new report. Researchers from insurer Endsleigh found that residents in Nottingham are almost twice as likely to make a claim than an average household. Leeds and Hull were also found to be among other cities where the risk of being burgled is above average. Guildford, Swindon and Dundee are among the most secure places to live, the insurer said. The results were collected by analysing burglary claims across the UK over the last four years by people insured by Endsleigh. The frequency of claims in different UK towns and cities was then compared to the Endsleigh national average. But Stuart Wartalski, of Endsleigh, said burglary rates are falling in the UK, something reflected in recent Government crime figures. The places most at risk from burglary were: 1. Nottingham 2. Leeds 3. Hull 4. London 5. Oxford 6. Bristol 7. Reading 8. Manchester 9. Sheffield 10. Cambridge
lildave3 Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Yeah but Robin Hood robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, so this is meaningless.
filbertway Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Yeah but Robin Hood robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, so this is meaningless. You are joking aren't ya ?
Phube Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Yeah but Robin Hood robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, so this is meaningless. Bugger.... The second I saw the title I thoughtabout saying: "Yeah, but they rob the rich to give to the poor!!" But you ruined it all!!!

Endsleigh are considered specialists in student insurance- A LOT of students are insured with them. What about all the other insurers? No wonder the results are so skewed. If you look at the demographic of a number of other insurers I'd bet on a different result.

Head Honcho Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Maybe more people in Nottingham are insured by Endsleigh!
Webbo Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 I'm staying in nottingham. I've been robbed. Serves you right.
Daggers Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Nottingham is scary shit. It's Los Angeles riots of 2007 - them Mo'fo's in Arnold are some crazy sheet.
Leicfox Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I noticed Liverpool doesn't feature on that list, so i'll say Liverpool has been burgled out, and the places on the list are full of migrant scousers looking for work.
Ultra Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Predictably enough, the local council and MPs were up in arms about this survey. Nottingham North MP Graham Allen said the figures were "a complete load of tripe" and in the past four years crime in the city had reduced by 20%. But local police seem to know the score... Children recruited for break-ins Sgt Walters says officers will be targeting the older criminals. A Nottingham policeman claims children as young as 10 are being persuaded to commit crimes by older criminals. Sgt Paul Walters said he noticed the trend during a crackdown on burglaries in the Clifton area of the city. Never mind, at least they've found a league table where they can finish top!
Bryn Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Figures like this that come out are always full of shit. There's a million and one ways to manipulate numbers to make them say what you want and I think the nail's head was very much hit with the student theory.

Yeah because Nottingham is the only City with a high student population!!! Have you been to Leicester recently!!??? Nobody is fixing the figures, it's just where most claims from Ensleigh come from. nothing more, nothing less!! But looking at it another way.... Perhaps more Nottinghamese people make fraudulent claims, either way it's a s**thole of a place!!!
