Mort Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 I’ll join the chorus of those who don’t really care to be honest… He was a great player for us, the term legend is bandied about too much IMHO… but he was a great player and really gave his all with some really consistently excellent performances. He may well have been able to perform a role for us next season, you could imagine him performing a similar role to that of Yorke with Sunderland. But it’s all ifs, buts and maybes… the truth is it would have been a huge risk, and he’s now an old player who would have little or no medium to long term future as a player with the club. When we’re looking for a sustainable squad of youth and experience, I don’t think that Lennon really fitted in and signing him (quite possibly on pretty hefty wages) would have served little purpose. Good luck to him and this shouldnt detract from his place in LCFC history and folklore... O/T wont this mean he's back living at his house in Leicester Forrest East?

Because i certainly do. He could of played a big part at this club in a critical time in its history. Its a shame he chose Forest.

Maybe he realises Calderwood is on the way out and wants the managers job, either that or he wants a nice comfortable last year playing football.

Such as he thinks Calderwood wont last as the manager and he will be asked to step up when he is sacked?? Or maybe he just fancied saving his legs with all the league one hoof ball bypassing the midfield. Word of warning your legs might be ok but watch out for those stiff necks!!!

I am convinced that there is no way that Forest offered him more money than a Premiership team could...or a recently relegated Championship one would be able to. In light of the fact that it is a one year deal would indicate a last throw of the dice (money-wise) to attempt to come back up...but a one year deal? No coaching option? Sounds a piss-poor package to me regardless of money at his age if he really wants either a nest egg or coaching experience.
