potter3 Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Not if they get bought out by the fifth richest man in the world they won't :pinch: Twice as rich as Roman Abramovich.
Stevosevic Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 It will still require them attracting players and will not enable them to buy worldbeaters, even they do get bought out they will still be in the relegation scrap IMO.
Ultra Posted 13 June 2007 Author Posted 13 June 2007 Sunderland will be fine. Yeah - judging by the recent signing of Greg Halford, they have a manager and chairman who know what they're doing.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Derby County, Fulham and Manchester City in no particular order will go down. I have to agree. Derby's squad will need severe strengthening if they are to stay up. Fulham's better players are turning against Sanchez's promise of long-ball tactics so I predict a mass exodus. Manchester City will be relying too heavily on the likes of Richard Dunne, I can forsee another bad season at the City of Manchester unless there is huge investment. And I can't see it with this Shinawatra guy.
Daggers Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 :pinch: Twice as rich as Roman Abramovich. Well, until he had his bank accounts frozen!
Stevosevic Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Well, until he had his bank accounts frozen! Thats Man City
Guest seanfox778 Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 I can see wigan going down, or maybe even bolton i think they will struggle
Leicester_Mad Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 Derby Birmingham Wigan Bolton Boro Fulham Manchester City Reading They'll all be down there next season, can see Derby Fulham and Wigan going down this year though
Simi Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 If they don't get the takeover sorted very soon, they will definately be in a lot of trouble next year.
Tevez Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 Man City are teams just to make the numbers up in the premiership
davieG Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 From Sky Sven Goran Eriksson has agreed to take charge of Manchester City, according to Sky Sports News. The Swede has been out of work since quitting as England coach last year, after the World Cup finals. He has been linked with numerous posts all over the world, but he now seems set to return to club management by taking his first job in the Premier League. Eriksson has been in talks with prospective new City owner Thaksin Shinawatra and a three-year deal is understood to have been agreed. However, Eriksson's acceptance is almost certain to depend on whether Shinawatra's takeover of City is successful or not. City's current board issued a statement regarding the Eriksson speculation, but they refused to confirm any new manager. "The board notes the media speculation concerning the managerial position at the club," read a statement on their official website. "Earlier today [Tuesday], UK Sports Investments Limited announced that the offer document in respect of its offer for the club was posted to shareholders. "Discussions are ongoing with managerial candidates and once the offer becomes or is declared unconditional in all respects, the club expects to announce the appointment of a new manager."
Guest Gist Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I don't think Sunderland will struggle. I think they'll be mid table.Derby will go, along with Wigan and Birmingham. I agree. I also think Fulham will be down there with the three you mentioned.
city1993 Posted 27 June 2007 Posted 27 June 2007 It will be sods law that they will get a uefa cup place with him now, just to make England fans feel as if we lost a good manager, I hope he does well though, not because I like him, but because I like Man city as a team.
Simi Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Sven has met the players today, he will be confirmed as manager once/if the takeover goes through.
The Reverend Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Svens a fantastic Domestic manager. He will lead them to a Uefa spot, or top 10 at least. Definitely.
Geo V Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I dont know how well Sven will do with Man City as thats almost an impossible job as th will never be as big as United and wont ever attract the better players. Also, they will always lose there better players to more ambitious clubs having already sold Barton to Newcastle, SWP to Chelsea and couldnt persuade Distin to stay as he went on a freebie to Pompey. The fact that Micah Richards has been quoted as saying he wants to go to "his club" which apparently is Arsenal is another kick in the knads for that so called big club. As for Sven, sure he thinks of his own interests first and is a sneaky so and so but he has given us glimpses of great football that both the manager he took over from couldnt (Keegan) and that his predecessor McClare is failing to do. Things werent that bad for England with Sven in charge although they could have been better. Losing on penos in comps though like the World Cup and having goals chalked off like Sol Campbells header are the difference at times between greatness and mediocrity and with a little luck (ie Rooney not getting injured during Euros) we may wel have done better. Back to Man City, Svens on a hiding to nothing there and whilst I cant see them relegated, I cant see how he can beat the bigger clubs of this country in signing quality players. Also you have to look at the crap he is inheriting because not many would are memorable players with maybe the exception of Richards and Onuoha. He cant do what Big Sam can do at Newcastle in having a squad full of saleable assets. Sam sells Scott Parker and gets Barton and Rozenthal for about a million on top and Sven hasnt that luxury. I hope he does well as I may be in the minority but I think he is a decent coach and one that should still be in charge of England.
Raj Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 He will have enough money to keep them safe. Easily. He may have enough money but if you look at last years squad IMHO they seem vastly short of any quality Premiership players. And although Barton is a loose cannon,he was one decent player. Sven has got a very long hard season in front of him. I reckon he'll be sacked by Xmas.
lildave3 Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 This season there will be alot of clubs left disappointed. You have the big 4, then Tottenham, then the likes of Villa, Newcastle, Hammers and Man City who have the money behind them. Everton and Bolton are usually up there aswell. They can't all do well.
Joe. Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 There's going to be a mass transfer flurry at Man. City very soon. I think we all expect them to spend big, and I thnk they'll spend over the odds on a few players such as Bellamy etc. I don't think they'll be too near the bottom next year, and relegation is not an option either.
Blue Bob Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Sven formally named as City manager. Not exactly the best kept secret of the season!!! Lucky bloke will have a nice kitty to spend.
lildave3 Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Potential New SigningNow that's a hefty chunk of cash Another foreign flop for City? Never seen him play, so basically i'm asking Manwell.
Nick Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 The media will crucify him....but he expects that. I reckon he (and big Sam for that matter) will be quality. Sven, love him or hate him, has a shit-hot domestic record.
