And no wonder - the Man City takeover is close to collapse, there's no manager, key players have left and season ticket sales are falling through the floor. They could well end up in a Leeds-style meltdown. As if sharing a city with some of the smuggest fans on the planet wasn't bad enough..

mancunianfox Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 City are in a real mess at the moment, I'd defo put money on them coming down with Derby. I think the clubs problem is that their expectations are too high given their financial situation...imo Pearce did a good job at City considering he was never given the resources to attract decent players. Barton and Distin are a huge loss and they will struggle to keep Richards too. The only way I can see them staying up is if they can pick up a couple of decent central defenders and their kids like Daniel Sturridge break into the first team and have a huge impact. I think not signing Beasley is a mistake as well. Its not looking good for the blue 3/4's of the city and I think it would be sad if they went down again given all that their supporters have had to suffer/endure over the last few years.

Birmingham should be fine with a couple of new signings as they have more players than Sunderland and Derby who can cut the prem. Would have thought McSheffrey and Muamba will do well in the premiership as well.

Vacamion Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 I think the field for relegation next year is as wide as it has been for a while. As it looks now, the three promoted sides, plus Wigan, Fulham, Man City and Boro will all be happy to avoid the drop. There's always the possibility that one of the higher up sides could flirt with relegation, too. How will Bolton cope without Big Sam ? Will Reading have that difficult 2nd season ? If Man City fans are feeling nervous about next year, they can take heart from the fact that so many other clubs are fancied to be down there with them. Given that there is SO much money at stake, it makes it fascinating viewing for neutrals.

I HOPE Derby will go down... and with them probably birmingham or wigan. I think & hope boro will stay up - southgate is an OK manager hope it works out for him

There were questions over his attitude and influence towards other players Doesn't sound good for them, then... Not for the first time, the battle at the bottom of the Premiership promises to be a lot more competitive than the one at the top!

Although the foreign choices who have been mentioned in my opinion may be very risky with the likes of Santini, Perain etc. failing in recent seasons. bottom 3 for me will be Wigan, Derby then one of. Birmingham, Fulham or Middelsborough.
