Fox in a Box Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 If you look at the details supplied by David G below then 9/10 new signings (shaun Newton TBC) then we are replacing old staff to some degree..... and re-energising the squad. One thing I do wish for is that the 7 on the tranny list move soon rather than later, they should realise that there time at LCFC is at and end really. I'd imagine 2 further signings before the season starts, do you think were getting like for like replacements or a better quality set of replacements? Kaebi seems to be getting good reviews.... I do think we are still shy of a goalscorer with pedigree thou. I think we have some fair replacements but only time will tell -------------------- 05 July Hossein Kaebi from Persepolis FC (Iran) undisclosed - 2 year contract. 04 July Jonathan Hayes from Reading - 3 Year contract 26 June James Chambers from Watford - 3 Year contract 19 June Radostin Kishishev from Charlton Athletic - 2 Year contract 19 June Sergio Hellings from AGOVV Apeldoorn - 2 Year contract 8 June Carl Cort from Wolves - 2 year contract 6 June Ricky Sappleton from QPR 4 June Jimmy Nielsen from AaB Aalborg 230k - 2 Year contract 4 June Bruno N'Gotty from Birmingham - 2 Year contract OUT - £650,000 6 June - Patrick McCarthy - Turned down improved contract - Charlton £650K 21 May - Danny Tiatto - Contract expired, joining Queensland Roar. 21 May - Andy Johnson - Contract expired, joining Barnsley 21 May - Scott Lycett - Contract expired. 21 May - Danny Cadamarteri - Contract expired, joining Huddersfield 21 May - Nils-Eric Johansson - Contract expired, joining AIK Sweden TRANSFER LISTED Mark de Vries - June 2007 Rab Douglas - June 2007 Steven Hughes - June 2007 Alan Maybury - June 2007 Elvis Hammond - June 2007 Darren Kenton - June 2007 Loans Completed Geoff Horsfield Shaun Newton Mark Yeates Jason Jarrett

Plus the likes of Weso, Porter, etc will be a year older and more experienced. When you look at it like that you can easily argue that every one of our transfers seems to have improved our squad, in some cases massively. A great bit of work by MA and MM so far and I'm sure there's still more to come. A new left back to replace Johansson, another striker and maybe one more centre mid look like priorities now. Ive never heard of one of these before, is it like a sex offenders list, or Paedophile list (do they exist) where you can find if any live in your area, so you can avoid them? Thracian Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 Big boost so far for me is the arrival of the Persian Prince and what amounts to the "re-signing" of Fryatt seeing as he seems to want to be a footballer once more.

When you put like that, things look one hell of alot brighter! Not sure about the Newton signing though, hes nothing spesh from what I saw of him last season. All very well but is it based on anything or is it just wishful thinking? Have you seen Hellings play, for instance? Or Sappleton? Is Newton really better than Cadamarteri? Is there any evidence our new Danish goalkeeper will do well in English football? Will Cort even complete 10 games for the season let alone match DeVries' last scoring tally for the season. I'm not trying to dampen enthusiasm - I feel as positive as anyone - but it really is extraordinary how every new signing is always presumed to be better than the players replaced. Reality shows that it ain't necessarily so. Unfortunately.
Royston. Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 Its just a case of getting rid of the dross which we've had to put up with and bring in some new guys on a clean slate. We may well be putting a few of them on the transfer list come this time next year.
potter3 Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 Is there any evidence our new Danish goalkeeper will do well in English football? Yeah but a keeper doesn't have to adapt so much, the shots are still the same, it's the outfield game that foreign players have to adapt to. evan Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 apart from maybe N'Gotty, Kishishev and Cort though most of the signing have something to prove. Its nice to see a big freshen up...gof we've needed it but time will tell how many of the 10 signings are actually in the first team...sappleton and hayes are obviously going to be used in bursts possible...i think sappleton is one of the one's to watch though...and we actually have some pace in the team with our prince of persia, hellings and sappleton (by all accounts)

This guy scored something like 13 goals EVER before being signed for 7mil by Newcastle. Since then what's he done?? Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Very unsure. And I'm expecting Hayes to be a mainstay out on the left also because to be honest there's nobody else and it's clear MA rates him from MKD

dandannieldanok Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 i thought hendrie had been training with us He'd be in the middle with Kishishev Hendrie hasn't signed yet and he could easily bugger off on Monday and sign for Derby so I don't think we can include him in any plans yet. act smiley Posted 6 July 2007 Share Posted 6 July 2007 Will Cort even complete 10 games for the season let alone match DeVries' last scoring tally for the season. Didn't DeVries score a mighty 2 goals last season? A friend who supports Den Haag bet me that he would score goals. I lost, just To be honest, if Cort can stay fit, I don't think that he'll do too badly. Its just the injury problems.
Ive got the blues Posted 7 July 2007 Share Posted 7 July 2007 Yeah but a keeper doesn't have to adapt so much, the shots are still the same, it's the outfield game that foreign players have to adapt to. look at Taibi for manchester united he has always been great in italy but could not adapt to the english game that has more crosses and is so much more fast paced. You can never really tell if any of the players will adapt will be interesting finding out

Geo V Posted 8 July 2007 Share Posted 8 July 2007 Good so far but I have this inkling that we ae set to actually spend a few pound on one or two decent players. Ive said it on another thread that our signings seem to be getting better and I think we are set for one or two more good uns.
Ive got the blues Posted 8 July 2007 Share Posted 8 July 2007 Yeah cos that pea roller from 25 yards was a great cross! I ment that his confidence was gone as in the games surrounding that game he had consistantly missed crosses and also not coped with the constant fast paced game, its one thing being a good keeper its another thing having the concentration to be a worthwhile keeper

However, I do think Newton was better than Cadamarteri last year, when he played from the start I always though he looked a threat. If not a starter this year, a strong squad player.
