I don't think i've ever read anything quite so funny! Allen's already a legend in my eyes (could go so far as saying hes the topps dog  ) so lets hope he keeps up, what seems, to be high spirits amongst the city camp

Fryatt 20+ goals this season

it was like a breath of fresh air reading that! What a difference to hear MA actually keeping the players on their toes and working them hard...tactics supposedly sorely lacking over the last 2 years to say the least! The players know not to mess about, which is what you need...i bet roy keane doesnt take no sh1zer at sunderland.

I really hope fryatt stays fit as over the last few years often when one of our players has actually begun to show some form...they either get suspended or injured or both...

on the mars bars...does this mean the media will start to target our players (ala gazza) with "he's overweight and addicted to mars bars" type taunts! :D

Well any doubts you have will get wiped away with that, the man just cannot put a foot wrong yet, but the start of the season isn't far off now.

It doesn't often happen but there's a much more positive reaction to MA's comments on this forum than on Talking Balls.

Usually reaction to footballing things is pretty well parallel and relfects the fact that quite a few posters contribute to both sites.

But it is quite pronounced how irritated some on TB are about MA's little motivational games and the way he writes about them in his column.

Perhaps it's another example of anything different being suspect.

Why?

Kelly came across as more boring than a deckchair attendant.

His pre-match routines were all exactly the same, his pre-match and aftermatch comments might have been cloned from the same DNA and his team selections and team-peformances reflected his public character - dour as a Pennine drizzle.

Drip, drip, drip with not a ray of sunshine to be seen.

At least MA's having a go and if, like Frank Sinatra, he wants to "Do It My Way" then I'm quite prepared to lay back and enjoy the Lazer Show.

Football needs characters.

And Leicester City has lacked em for too long.

Allen went up in my estimation on Wednesday when he asked if me and this bloke who I was standing with had come to watch training. When we said yes he told us to come up closer to where the players were training to get a better view of what was going on. A genuine bloke, friendly and a good communicator. I haven't seen him interact with the players as a group yet which may be interesting to see. Must say I was disappointed by the lack of banter between the players that day but hopefully it's been notched up a few levels now.

The article is hilarious!

It seems MA has installed some fun in training and hopefully this will bode well for the season ahead.

I'm sure for a manager the hardest thing is to get well paid footballers motivated for training etc..

If he can do it with a few mars bars and a cheap BBq set that speaks voulmes!

Absolutely (+0.5 for innovative training ideas and, according to Hume, working the squad harder than they were used to under Kelly). I really couldn't believe how unfit some of our players looked last season. Total +12.5. :D

Good to hear about Fryatt putting in the effort and winning man of the tournament. Hopefully he can keep this momentum up and carry it into the new season.

I was also told that the players that turn up late are forced into the cold bath for 15 minutes.

Hopefully the Mars bar and BBQ gear doesn't go to his head. ;)

Yeah, what happens to the new leaner Fryatt if he gets an addiction to mars bars and barbeque wings now? Terrible! :(

They all go into the cold baths it's supposed improve the muscles or something.

I like his style, especially his honesty.

Like when he's talking about the signing of Newton. Whereas some managers will bullshit on about how good their new signing is and everything they've got that they actually haven't got, Allen is straight about it all. He admits Newton wasn't worth a longer contract and explains the reasons why.

Yeh I understand that, it's just something extra they have to do first thing in the morning if they are late.

Not that they should need that motivation not to be late- but I guess thats just another incentive! :worship:

No they have them after training, nothing to do with being late or otherwise
