Geo V Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Not sure MA will have a "best team". He remarked at Kilworth that he'll very rarely use the word team. He really does think in terms of squad and I believe he will use both his starting line-up and replacements in close to equal measure.Like Fergie, who he admires greatly, he'll avoid player burn out, ensure people are kept active and involved and honestly won't see, say, Wesolowski as being weaker than Kishishev or Clemence but all three as front grade, best in the League players. There won't be any such thing as not changing a winning team. His squad will represent his winning team - every one of them. Fergie has world class players on the bench, we dont. MA may well rest the younger lads like Weso and Stearman as he doesnt what them to burn out which would be a smart move as young players need to be nurtured and thrown in at the right time but in general, unless he is picking his team tactically, Im sure he`ll have a best team in mind if everyone is 100% fit. Its down to the individuals to prove themselves when players get injured or suspended but its very important not to drop in form players to rest them which seems to be done by some premiership managers, at time to there detriment as players then have to refind that form. (Peter Crouch at Liverpool was a perfect example last season)

He really rates our young players and positively ooses belief in them. And, by championship standards we'll have an abundance of riches on the side and in my view they'll all be in form and he won't want any of them to lose their edge. The bloke is a one off and I don't say that lightly. He really wouldn't give a toss making Mattock captain. Or any number of others. If anyone's wearing a Leicester shirt come the kick off, be it on the pitch or on the bench it will be because he think's they're every bit as good as the rest. And playing one guy on a Saturday and another on a Wednesday won't bother him because if he waits for the team to lose to make changes, some of them might well have forgotten what first team football is like.
Fox in a Box Posted 19 July 2007 Author Posted 19 July 2007 I'd forgotten how annoying you are during pre season. what is that kinda comment for, this thread is about football not you manny!

Before watching DVDs about 5 or 6 weeks back he hadnt a clue about our youngsters! Its great that MA is a passionate manager as that will hopefully inspire our players to perform well for him but this is the honeymoon period and he has had no reason to have a pop at them yet as all is fun and rosey in the garden. The test is when things go tats up and things aren't so smiley. I have full faith that MA can develop to be a really good manager and I hope he will make the right decisions on the pitch. I have the feeling he wont be carrying anyone who under-performs which is a much needed quality, one that RK failed miserably to manage.
Fox in a Box Posted 19 July 2007 Author Posted 19 July 2007 With the wholesale changes we've made I feel the friendlies this season are vitally important. We cannot wait til the League programme starts to find some team undestanding and friendlies under Martin Allen are treated totally different to friendlies by other managers I've seen. There is no sitting back, no taking a laid back attitude. Allen is an obsessive winner. Nothing else will please him. Furthermore he's an obsessive learner and is plainly using the friendly programme to do exactly that. Our tempo is much higher than last season and would be whether we were playing Arsenal or Highfield Rangers. Allen expects performances from everyone and Nielsen won't be shaky because he wants to be I am quite sure. Some people might be happy to wait half a dozen League matches to judge his performances. But I doubt Allen will. He's got perfectly competent alternatives and if Nielsen doesn't convince I cannot imagine he'll get in. And right now there's no way he'd be my choice. Right on brother.... We need to play as many games to get to know each others good points and bad points as players and as you say Allen is not resting on his Laurels or Hardys.

Zingari Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Seriously did you go to the Hinckley game? Because i did an he looked dodgier than a jammie dodger riding on a dodgem with rodger dodger. The first time i saw him get anything right all evening is when he waved at the call of 'Jimmy Jimmy give us a wave' so at least he knows his own name. He did however wait to see if Weso turned round first. quote or insult of the week entry methinks
Daggers Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Thats better. You going anywhere nice for the summer or are you planning a quiet one?
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 WTF! No one knows yet how Casino is going to perform in a proper match that actually means something. Even MA prob hasn't seen anywhere near enough of him to make a judgement on him, give the guy a break FFS.....
Nickfosse Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Over the past few years, we have slowly been in decline from our years under MON/ MICKY A .. we have seen Garry Parker,Bassett, Howard Wilkinson, CL, RK at the helm, even if for a short period. Stability is key within any company let alone football club. The days of loyal servants has gone. (Wallington/Walshie/Izzet/Kaamark to name a few) .............during the past 4/5 years LCFC should have had a revolving door installed at the front entrance. Milan has taken us to the point now where we can stabalise the Club and he has plumbed for MA, only time will tell on that front, MA seems to be building a decent attititude, relationship with his players and he is trying to be open with fans. Not everyone is going to agree with him, but he don't pussy around. OK, I rekon we all agree that the football that has been served in the last few seasons has been dire, losing at home to Rotherham, hammered by Sheff Weds are two examples of poor perfomances. A new dawn is upon us and I'm hoping for 2/3 more quality players to join the fold before the start of the season. N'Gotty, Clemmy and 'The Prince' look good on paper with Hume, Fryatt, Mattock,Stears and Weso I think we are building something decent, a 4-4-2 is the way forward, attacking with style will get the crowd roaring us on... MM will want returns for his money and MA will get the best out of what we have. So what are you looking for in the next 2/3 seasons? I would hope to see more passion, Quality and a return to the never die spirit that seems to have deserted us after MON left our club. MA seems to be installing that kinda thing. The position I really worry about is the 'keeper in nets' I need to see Jimmy more but We do lack a decent keeper, something we have always had a CITY. I don't think there's anything wrong with Logan. He had a great game against Brum last year keeping us in it with some top saves. I reckon he could be more than decent given another chance. I'd play him in front of Nielson on Hinckley's evidence.

You cannot decide whether Jimmy is good / bad / indifferent / bullshit until he actually plays a "real life" competitive game in a real competition. To base a judgement on a friendly is mental!
David Villa Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 I think if Jimmy just works on his crosses and he demands the box at corners and crosses he will be a good signing, from the looks of it he seems to be a good shot stopper.

So you're saying that if he works on his catching, fisting, punching, jumping and diving, he'll be ok? Sounds like a solid buy to me

Valid points if it wasn't for the simple, I wouldn't call it a problem just yet, fact that the teams he has used so far are highly unlikely to be starting v Blackpool.
David Villa Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Its not hard is it to work on your catching for god sake
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Its not hard is it to work on your catching for god sake Erm to get to proffesional standerd, yes it is.

If there were awards for incoherent, special need ****nutitude then you'd be waltzing off with the ****nut of the Year award with no one else getting a look in. Even dannyboy11 and Brummie-Fox can use a sodding keyboard but you haven't even mastered that basic skill yet. I still refuse to believe that you aren't a 12 year old in a special needs class no matter what others tell me.
