The I want to talk football

Recommended Posts

Over the past few years, we have slowly been in decline from our years under MON/ MICKY A .. we have seen Garry Parker,Bassett, Howard Wilkinson, CL, RK at the helm, even if for a short period. Stability is key within any company let alone football club.

The days of loyal servants has gone. (Wallington/Walshie/Izzet/Kaamark to name a few) .............during the past 4/5 years LCFC should have had a revolving door installed at the front entrance.

Milan has taken us to the point now where we can stabalise the Club and he has plumbed for MA, only time will tell on that front, MA seems to be building a decent attititude, relationship with his players and he is trying to be open with fans. Not everyone is going to agree with him, but he don't pussy around.

OK, I rekon we all agree that the football that has been served in the last few seasons has been dire, losing at home to Rotherham, hammered by Sheff Weds are two examples of poor perfomances.

A new dawn is upon us and I'm hoping for 2/3 more quality players to join the fold before the start of the season.

N'Gotty, Clemmy and 'The Prince' look good on paper with Hume, Fryatt, Mattock,Stears and Weso I think we are building something decent, a 4-4-2 is the way forward, attacking with style will get the crowd roaring us on... MM will want returns for his money and MA will get the best out of what we have.

So what are you looking for in the next 2/3 seasons? I would hope to see more passion, Quality and a return to the never die spirit that seems to have deserted us after MON left our club. MA seems to be installing that kinda thing.

The position I really worry about is the 'keeper in nets' I need to see Jimmy more but We do lack a decent keeper, something we have always had a CITY.

Fully agree with the 'keepers part.

Wallington. Banks. Shilton :worship:

We have nearly always had good 'keepers but somebody, somewhere rates JN.

So maybe he'll be ok. Too early to tell yet.

And so it starts...

After a couple of tin-pot meaningless friendlies momentum is building up for this seasons most hated player. Minds have been made up and there'll be no swaying them.

The guy hasn't even had time to work out how to use the ****ing Corby trouser press in his hotel room and we've had posts about his flapping hands, his not knowing the names of his fellow players and about him being unaware of the score when walking off the pitch.

**** off!

Some pissed up bloke in Playa Del Chav has spoken to some anonymous pissed up bloke claiming to know Jimmy and how he's hated in his homeland? Bollocks.

What a load of shit!

Someone recently stated that Jimmy was already shoe-horned into the number one shirt by a load of us even though we hadn't seen him play...but it appears that having watched him for 45 friendly minutes is more than enough to write him off. Some of you haven't even had that - you're just happy to believe the crap you read and knee-jerk to an opinion of his abilities based on that.

Give the bloke a ****ing break and shut the **** up. At least do us all the favour of watching him play competitive football before you start wibbling about being worried about him.

Jesus ****!

Unfortunately watching Nielsen against Quorn and Hinckley offered exactly the same impression.

The grass is always greener for some folk ...

Me, I don't see the point in hiding something that's not going to change in a hurry.

Cos if you believe a bloke who gets rooted to his line and looks shaky and indecisive for crosses is suddenly going to change you've got more faith than me though I hope you're right.

But if you view's going to prevail and about 90% of people on here seem to want it too judging by how many pencilled him into their prospective "team" then, if I were MA I'd be making sure we don't give away any corners and we don't allow any crosses.

In fact I'd play two full-backs each side and two wingers to help them!

I think it's early days to assess Neilson yet. But it does sound like he'll be a nightmare when corners and crosses come his way, something that our defence haven't been brilliant at defending in recent years either, so that's a concern.I think the signing of Neilson was a weird one, but if Neilson does turn out to be pony then we've still got Henderson and Logan who although have their limitations are more than capable of keeping things ticking over in goal.

Looking at some of the goal keepers available this summer though, I do think we could have chosen more wisely. Neil Alexander and Lee Grant were both available on a free transfer. Plus there are some other goalies available, we really do need to get a class goalie at some point if we are to move forward significantly. If the rest of our team is good and we can get in and around the play-offs then we can possibly get by with a mediocre goalie for the time being but I wouldn't leave it too long.

When a goalie costs you points and matches, it's fookin annoying.

Its all very well shouting at peeps for slating Casino Jimmy already but with the general consesus being that he flaps more than an albatross and has had 2 out of 2 poor games between the sticks, there is a slight cause for concern.

Can you for instance remember the last time Logan or Henderson kung fu kick at the ball on a one-on-one situation rather than smothering the ball?

Now im more than willing to give players the benefit of the doubt, i did that last night when Sheehan outshone most of the rest of the team and with Stearman who performed well and showed determination again, but there will always be that niggling doubt in the back of my mind on the strength of the performance i saw last night.

I haven't seen him play either and can only go on the general consensus.

We have to give the guy a chance.

On a slightly different note, think back to all the grief MON got in his early days with us - now he's a legend!

As I said earlier, he may turn out to be brilliant (well, something like that.)

I actually think Neilson will prove his doubters he's already picked up wrong. You don't play 400 consecutive games for a Danish team that would still probably crap in our bath, if you're a clown.

He's a maverick, live the adventure with him.

Agreed Ric.... we have what we have but we should see more before we make judgement, LCFC has had a proud tradition of a good keeper... Keller included, and if we are going to mount a serious challenge for the top 6 then we need a good keeper in the sticks.. my pint is half full!

the thread was talking about football, the tatics how to grow the squad with quality and some people are just picking up on an early flapping flippin flap flap

Calm down, breathe.

You'll find that as soon as you learn to read without moving your lips that the breathing thing will take care of itself - good luck with that

It was a little 'Friendly Match' - do you want keepers going 100% for balls and risking injury for absolutely no reason? :dunno:

Flap is such a naughty sounding word. Makes me feel dirty just mentioning it

La Trine (Levein - kinda ryhmes!!) should never have ditched Walker tbf...and certainly not have replaced him with Rab C Nesbit

I dunno about me but Mad Dog certainly does. There were tackles flying in from all over the place.

Even Mad Dog nearly twatted the other manager when they got a bollocks throw in.

N'Gotty was dreadful last night, Stearman is not a midfielder, De Vries, Cort and Hammond are not cut out for this level, Nielsen struggles with his kicking and we have not brought in a new left-back. The game at Hinckley shows signs of the probable starting XI, with Nielsen in goal, Chambers, N'Gotty and Sheehan set to play at the back with Kis however McAuley & Kis should be considered, Weso & Clem in centre mid and with either Newton/Kaebi on the right and Hayes on left, the midfield is promising, but when it comes to the strikers, Hume is a must for a starting role and the next place depends if we make Fowler/DJ a LCFC player, but Fryatt seems the likeliest to partner Hume. We have got a good squad but if we play like we did last night even though it was a friendly, there will be another season of struggle in store unfortunaely. It will be a big test to see if Allen can get the best out of all the players and create a positive vibe at the club and get us back on track and be the same club as we were in the 90's, up near the top battling for everything

What evidence is there that Fryatt will play up front? He didn't play last night, and looks to have Cort and De Vries ahead of him at the moment.

That really is a lot of critisism for a pre season friendly against Hinckely.
