Samilktray Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 Doctors have admitted Antonio Puerta's progress in hospital has been 'unfavourable'. The Sevilla wing-back is in intensive care after suffering a heart attack during his team's victory over Getafe at the weekend. He collapsed on the pitch, and again in the changing rooms, before being rushed to hospital after being given cardiac resuscitation. Puerta's condition remains 'very critical' after doctors at the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville provided an update on Tuesday. "The player remains in the hospital in a very critical state and his progress is unfavourable," said doctors. "The condition of patient Antonio Puerta is not favourable due to the progression of the postanoxic brain injury and the multiple organic dysfunction caused by the prolonged cardiac arrest that led to his admission to hospital." From SSN.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 Somone should really do some research into this condition.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 My word. Being a footballer is a pretty hazourdus occupation.
Lord Nibblington Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 My word. Being a footballer is a pretty hazourdus occupation. So it would seem. Makes me wonder if fully fit professionals are dropping dead, what's going to happen to an unfit bugger like me when I next play.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 So it would seem.Makes me wonder if fully fit professionals are dropping dead, what's going to happen to an unfit bugger like me when I next play. He was a very good player as well, shocking.
Milky Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 It's quite amazing how a dodgy heart isn't picked up on, or perhaps it's something you just can't see.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 I am so shocked and am very upset by his death... Im a very keen follower of spanish football and i know he was a very exciting prospect.... It makes you wonder what is going wrong... It seriously needs looking at, i watched the game sat and i thought he was dead then but he got up.... The world has lost a good footballer, and his family have lost a good man... im so saddened by this!!!
Gené and Tonic Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 The fact he walked off the pitch makes it more unbelieveable.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 I recall seeing Miklos Feher die during a Portuguese match in 2004 of a heart attack (there are many tribute videos of him collapsing on Youtube), one minute smiling at the ref the next minute he's dead. It makes you wonder any of us could go at any time. Footballer deaths, like buses, seem to come along in bunches! Weird R.I.P
Leonisco Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 Makes you realise how much we take life for granted. RIP.
oO RUSTYNAIL Oo Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 Ok thats really weird i mean didnt that happen to that Man City player Mark viven Foey, and my thoughts go to his family at this moment in time. RIP
Geo V Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 I didnt realized he had died as the last report I read was he was in a stable condition. Shocking stuff. RIP
Bryn Posted 28 August 2007 Posted 28 August 2007 The fact he walked off the pitch makes it more unbelieveable. I thought that, he was there just walking off the pitch, substituted just like any other footballer. And he died.
