Raj Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Why were they booing Gary? I think it was Phil Neville, not Gary Neville they were booing.....might be wrong tho...i didn't even watch it
ASH17LCFC Posted 9 September 2007 Author Posted 9 September 2007 I think most england fans still haven't got over Phil Neville costing us that game at Euro 2000. I still think Bentley should have got booed the guy is too much of a big head and turning turn a chance to play for england at any level is a joke. Most of the other players had play has just has many games as he had been in and him getting into the full england squad at the end of the season ... HE DIDN'T PULL OUT THEN DID HE ?!
NorthernFox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Here is a bloke on £20.000 a week who couldn't be arsed to represent his country at u21 level preferring to enjoy his 12 week fully paid summer holiday. The man is a total self absorbed twat who fully deserved to hear the feelings of the paying supporter. Totally Agree. Honour and Privalege to be asked to represent your Country at any level. Sorry but willy puller.
ASH17LCFC Posted 9 September 2007 Author Posted 9 September 2007 I would die to play for my country at any level in any game.
NorthernFox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 I would die to play for my country at any level in any game. Me Myself & Doreen. England my England. In todays society its a fooking crime (in this country) to be proud of your nationality. You dont have to be bnp to PROUD TO BE ENGLISH
ASH17LCFC Posted 9 September 2007 Author Posted 9 September 2007 Bentley typical modern day footballer. Too much money and too much fame. Imagine if Brian Clough was england manager. Bentley would never wear the 3 lions again.
NorthernFox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Totally Correct. Each player would have to have 3 lions tattoed on his shoulder. Should do anyway.
ASH17LCFC Posted 9 September 2007 Author Posted 9 September 2007 Totally Correct. Each player would have to have 3 lions tattoed on his shoulder. Should do anyway. Yep but we all know the only reason cloughie was never england manager because he would had wanted to run the whole show kinda like allen wanted too. I have the 3 lions tattooed on my leg
Daggers Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 What's money got to do with it? Since when did earning 25k a year stop people becoming tired? Damn right. Ask my wife.
Hullfox Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Bentley was wrong to pull out when he did and how he did it. He wasn't too tired to pull out of the senior squad for their friendlies just before so where did this fatigue come from. Boo the tw@t.
Dames Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Who ever is trying to defend him and be reasonable your wasting your time. Him being 'tired' was the most pathetic excuse ive ever heard. He runs around for 90 minutes once maybe twice a week. Why don't he try working in a hot factory 9-10 hours a day all summer long and then try to tell the boss he can't work because he's 'too tired' He's a lucky boy and he disgraced himself and the country by thinking he was too good to play for the u21s. Personally i think he should never be allowed to wear the shirt again for being such a disgrace. Most people would give thier left nut to play for the u21s let alone the First team.

Surprised to read this as I think I normally agree with a fair bit of what you say. For one I don't think you fully appreciate how tiring running 20 odd miles every week can tire you out over the cause of a 8 month season especially if your not used to it. If Wayne Rooney was called up to the under 21s and he turned it down no one would bat a eye lid. The effects of playing to much can be seen in top players like Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry at times, if Bentley was feeling too tired to play he has every right to withdraw. I somewhat doubt he Besides, even if he did shun his country there’s no need to boo him, or the Israeli national anthem for that matter. The England fans on Saturday were pretty disappointing all-round I thought.

He either bottled it or thought he was too big for it. You get players like Frank Lampard, Steve Gerrard and John Terry that wanna play everygame regardless and this is when they have broken toes and its easier to sit out. Personally i think Pennant should be in the squad ahead of him anyway and Bentley needs to be taught that playing for England at any level is a privalige and he's no more special then anyone else in the U21's or the First team.

Or he was tired!! I don't think he took the decision lightly I think he asked Mark Hughes and some of the Physios at Blackburn what the best cause of action would be for him, and I do agree with him sort of, playing for the Under 21's isn't that important, certainly not worth damaging you career for. It's players like Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney who annoy me more when the conveniently get Fergie-Itous causing them to miss every other England Friendly with one knock or another. And in RE to the second bit, everyone’s different aren’t they, Bentlys a lot younger than them remember they are physically stronger and probably have better natural fitness, as I say for every Frank Lampard who can play every game you get a Thierry Henry who can't

I was letting my patriotic side take over abit and i was beggining to sound like half the morons that are about these days. Though i disagree with the u21's being unimportant i think that it would be an honor to represent England no matter the level and i feel he shown great disrespect for doing how and when he did. And i bet he doesn't get tired if we qualify the Euro Championships.
BigGibbo Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Boing Phill Neville sums England Fans up completly.Utter Wankers. Yeah but he is utter sh!t though! before anyone try's to jump on my head i didn't boo or agree with the booing
Geo V Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Having gone to a few England games down the years, I always got the feeling it was the ideal opportunity for fans of poorly supported teams to come out and actually be amongst enough fans to actually make some noise as opposed to the 2000/3000 people that usually turn up to watch the games. You are always swamped by flags with "Carlisle" and other Northern monkey Towns and Cities who must be so excited by being apart of a big atmosphere and an important game that they cant but help get over-excited and go OTT. I would actually have backed the fans for booing Bentley once to make a point on never turning your back on your country when asked to play. Unfortunately, its not some well thought out intelligent argument made by the fans on this issue but just an excuse to have a pop at someone. Whether its having an OTT pop at our manager or booing players from John Barnes to Phil Neville, Frank Lampard to Carlton Palmer, it will always happen. Its simply morons who are too excitable or even fans of Liverpool boing Man Utd players or rivals of Chelski booing players like Frank Lampard. I also think that the rivalry between the big teams in this country is one of the reasons why we never play as a team and soon as we bring in players like Micah Richards, Gareth Barry and Emile Heskey, we start looking like a team again despite quality players being left out. BTW, Booing of national anthems isn't just about English fans BTW as most nations will boo England's when we travel abroad. Fans dont respect national anthems at football anymore but at least they are respected at sports like athletics or even F1.
Floating Fox Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 You dont have to be bnp to PROUD TO BE ENGLISH What the fook is there to be proud of. A load of scummy wankers with 6 Kids from New Parks. No Thanks. This country is bollocks.
Pete_foxes Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 shouldn't really boo own player especially when hes done nothing wrong on the pitch. Off the pitch ok.. its debatable
Floating Fox Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Most people would give thier left nut to play for the u21s let alone the First team. Not when their 23! The guy shouldn't of been considered in the first place!
Nationwider Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 The U21s are a monumental waste of time and resources. David Prutton played 25 games for them - no further questions, your honour. I don't blame Bentley for sacking them off. If we're going to prepare England's future stars the right way, we need to be booing them a lot younger than 23 in Bentley's case. The U18s should be booed from start to finish in every game, with the team coach given a bricking for good measure.
Ultra Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 Since when do England pay Lampard's wages? What the absolute fook are you blathering on about? He's been in consistantly superb form for Chelsea and hasn't done THAT much wrong for England apart from missing the target almost every time for about a year. His scoring record is still superior to Gerrards, and he does as good a job in midfield, albeit with a tendancy to play the ball more simply. Lampard may have been excellent for Chelsea - although even there he's been known to go missing on big occasions, for example in the Champions League semis. But he hasn't had a decent game for England since before the World Cup. We wouldn't tolerate players at club level who underachieve so woefully, so why should we do so with him? We are entitled to expect better from one of the highest-paid players in world football. And how precisely did Bentley treat the under 21's with "contempt"? Several posters have already given you chapter and verse on this.
