dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Why do we need a positive spin on things? He has the history and the experience, so what is wrong with his appointment? Because there are still a few total idiots that are emailing [email protected], (believing they might actually make contact with MM  ) complaining at the appointment and the club in general.
DB11 Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 He will probally send you a autograph pic of himself and allen signed saying ... Thank you for you're continuous support of Portsmouth FC. Is that supposed to be a joke Cos if it is - I don't get it (other than MM used to be at Pompey; MA didn't)
ASH17LCFC Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Is that supposed to be a joke Cos if it is - I don't get it (other than MM used to be at Pompey; MA didn't) Yes he did ...
demon_dog Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 The only positive spin that I can currently take from this situation is that after aiding Forest's demise into English football's third tier, Megson then rubs their noses in by getting us promoted to the Premiership. And beating them in the cup on Tuesday
Guest Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 And beating them in the cup on Tuesday  I've waited all my life to win at their poxy poo-hole.
ASH17LCFC Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I've waited all my life to win at their poxy poo-hole. Portsmouth 93 play off semi final first leg ... Doesn't that count ?
Tomassi Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Before i entered this forum tonight i knew what 99% of the response would be on here from Megsons appointment, NEGATIVE! In fact i've had texts from people all day moaning about it, people at work saying its a disaster etc etc. I think everyone needs to cast their minds back 12 months when we looked in danger of dropping out the championship, and probably out of football existence (just take a look at Leeds!) HOW LUCKY ARE WE to still have a football team to support in our great city who, at times can play good football, are playing in the top two league of britain? 5 years ago we were in administration, now we are looking healthy with a rich AMBITIOUS chairman who will do anything to get us success, even if it means getting in a professional manager rather than a charismatic manager. Yes i bought my season ticket this season because i was excited about the Marting Allen era, i seen the players at pre-season and how well we were playing, but i also realise if players can play well under one manager, they can play well under another, and results can always be achieved. It would be nice to get in the premier league but i am just grateful of having the choice to watch a good standard of football which i dont need to travel 200 miles for every saturday! Now lets get behind the new manager!!! He has had PROVEN success and he done Forest over a right treat lol so lets get behind our new man!!!
honeyholz Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Even though it pains me to admit it, you have a point Tomassi. He won't be given much time and will need to win the first few games!!

FilboFox Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Here here! Although I still would have preferred Jewel...
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 It's not that I don't agree with you - but disapointment at appointing what appears to be a boring ginger man is difficult to get over. Living in Bristol, and playing on Saturday's means i don't get to many games as I'd like. Under managers like Rob Kelly and Craig Levin, my attendance wained because they just didn't inspire me to want to travel all that way to watch crap footy and a defeat. When Allen was appointed, I was getting good vibes, even from a distance, but sadly it ended too soon and I didn't get a chance to come up. Megson doesn't excite me, and if he makes goal one, the prem, I can't see him getting us to goal 2, staying there - I think the will of everyone is that Megson proves us all wrong, but as MM said, if he has to get through 20 managers to do it, he will - well maybe he's trying to fast track to the 20th!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 It's not that I don't agree with you - but disapointment at appointing what appears to be a boring ginger man is difficult to get over. So instantly because he lacks charisma and has ginger hair he is going to be a failure?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 So instantly because he lacks charisma and has ginger hair he is going to be a failure? No - but I'd rather have a manager with charisma and non ginger hair - say Jose or Sven. End of the day, if he's not inspiring half or more of the fans at his appointment, he proberly hasn't inspired half or more of the current sqaud - so I don't expect a 4-0 saturday to impress the new man.
Zingari Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 good post tomassi i agree with all this ; very few know what really went on regarding the sacking of MA and i can't believe MM would jeapordise his huge investment in the club on no more than a petty argument ; MM has the best interests of the club at heart (because his heart is in his wallet) and although he has and will make mistakes i think we all should accept he knows best how to get us up in the top flight again and give our best support to whoever he sees fit to do a particular job at any given time , if , (as many believe) he has made a mistake, he has stated he won't shirk from correcting it come on leicester fans; megson is the manager ,MM thinks he's the best man for it so lets get rolling personally i agree with MM that he is the best available man now
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 No - but I'd rather have a manager with charisma and non ginger hair - say Jose or Sven. I know I'm nit-picking but why on earth does it matter......??? And Sven............charisma............
Webbo Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Distinctly underwhelmed but I'll support him for now.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I know I'm nit-picking but why on earth does it matter......???And Sven............charisma............ Ok - I'm semi serious with the Ginger hair thing. I'm not saying I wouldn't take a good manager with a bad hair cut, but I want someone I can identify with. Thats why I liked O'neil, Adams, Allen - I can't see me doing that with Megson. And Sven, charisma - well maybe you should ask Urika or Faria what he has that makes the women go week at the knees if it's not charisma? Maybe it's a 12 inch schlong! (Have I spelt that correctly, if you understand what I mean by schlong?)
Darkzzz_ Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 ok ok i am going to back him... after listening to the press conference i must say he seemed to have gained a sense of humour over the past 18 months... When you look on the bright side, he was in charge of a wank team when he took forest down... i for one think he did a great job a forest... Anyway, its our club, we love our club and we must get behind him i suppose... Come On Megson!!! Cant believe im saying it but seriously i really hope it works out for him and us.....

Ive been trying since late yesterday to look at the positives to this appointment and made light of the Megsons image as one for ridicule. Far too many people have a fascination of fearing the worst and at Leicester, we have been through hell and back in football terms which is why sometimes I can empathize in how people initially react. However, these are different times and different circumstances and to put it into context, I think that 90% of clubs fans would love to be in our position with manager, chairman, owner, fans, ground and the rest that goes with it. Sometimes we dont know and appreciate how good we have got it compared to many so we need to be looking forward to Saturday and the new era and stop worrying yourselves ill with what might happen. Now go and jump on the optimistic bus FFS
dog_4 Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 replacing martin allen with megson is a joke. I'd be baffled if i was allen.
He's not bald Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 replacing martin allen with megson is a joke. I'd be baffled if i was allen. I'm reserving judgement on this, just for the record I think the blokes a piss poor manager and the worse appointment possible,we are the laughing stock of football with all our near rivals sniggering into their lager and if we lose next Tuesday I'm jumping in the trent with a few bricks tied to me,...hope Mr Smegson make's me eat my words but I aint holding my breath!
