Looking For A Positive Spin?

I'm trying to adopt a positive stance on the news of Mr Megson coming in as manager, at first I didn't think i'd be able to. But the news is starting to sink in.

I'm still finding the Mandaric era amusing, it's a rollercoaster. Some bits are a bit hairy, i'd hazard a guess that the appointment of Megson is the equivalent of your trainer falling off when you're half way round.

But anyway, this is how it's going to be. I'm lapping it up, it's brilliant. Mandaric has officially lost the plot, but I knew that all along. There's some entertainment back in the club, it will be more entertaining than the football Gary serves up for us, but on non matchdays we can still get our pleasure from the behaviour of our stunning chairman.

Managers previous records are over-rated, the majority of the past 5 or 6 managers we've had, had good previous records and that meant fook all in terms of how successful they'd be with us. So although Megson has 2 promotions to the Premiership under his belt, it will be a different ball game for him here. He's got to weather the storm of a club that's not had success for quite some time now and a chairman that will demand success from the off.

He seems to be an organised chap, his mantra is that he'll get every ounce of ability out of all of his players and if they aren't prepared for that then they'll be bounced out. A similar trait that Martin Allen was known for. The football won't be pretty, but it seems to be a common occurance that any manager we appoint, will carry this reputation. So no need to prepare for change there then. Anyway, apparent attractive football is over-rated anyway. I don't know many teams or managers that have been successful and the football has been grotesque to watch. If we are to achieve promotion or atleast a play-off shout then we'll have won a good 20 games or more in a season and it's inconceivable to think that i'd come away from those games that we've won, angry because of the football served up. I'll cross that luxurious bridge if I ever get the chance.

Some fans won't be won over by the token Taggart we've got coming in, but I think it's a good move. If Taggart has the ability to become a successful coach and hopefully a successful manager then i'd be delighted if he could do it here. The fans love him, he loves us and I have a feeling that it will be Gerry Taggart that will be leading us to success in years to come. I'm often wrong, but I envisage Taggart as our manager in a few years and I think he'll be quality.

I'm not going to pretend that Megson is the sort of manager i'd have wanted, but looking at the managers we were seriously linked with and had a serious chance of getting, he's more of a coup than Reid and Roeder. Megson can be very shrewd in the transfer market as well, but the concern is his relationship he'll have with Mandaric. Either Megson and Milan don't see this as a problem or Megson is that desperate for the job and the cash, that he doesn't give a fook. We'll soon find out.

I know there's going to be a lot of fans who will be seriously pissed off right now. But let's give the Megsonator a chance, Albion fans speak very highly of him. Mandaric might be losing popularity by some, but the one thing he's not scared of is making changes. It's not ideal, but if Megson is shit, then he'll be gone.

I'm prepared to give him a chance. There's not a lot else to do. The Forest game next week will be a tidy number. Gary Megson has a clean slate from me. I care not what he's achieved or not achieved before us. If he can get this team giving 100% each game, win the required percentage of our home games and be solid away from home then i'll respect him and back him. If he can't then he'll get the criticism he deserves, but until then, I can't be arsed to cry over Gary's spilt milk.

Welcome Megson, Get the ball rolling on our path to promotion in the next year or so.

Go ginge !

We didn't want you, we fail to see what you have got that Martin Allen didn't have, we are scared of becoming long ball merchants and playing for one-nils, but, you are now the dude in the chair, so get us promoted and you will be alright by us...

IF you speak to any Baggie they'll tell you how much they adore him. His football is boring, dreadful and worse than watching dry paint but lets not forget his time at the West Brom.

Lets give him a chance, nothing else we can do.

Un-fecking-believable!

It's not even been officially announced yet and already Gary Megson has a rope around his neck.

We should remember it could have been worse - Warnock? Reid?

We should also remember that he DID do a good job at WBA. As he says, he had no money to keep them up. And even if he did have money, look how many clubs do bounce straight back down. So that's hardly a disaster. And think of the parachute payments we'd get. Leicester were a yo-yo club for many seasons. If Megson gets us up, he'll get more of MM's money. If he starts to fail then, he'll be gone.

His time at F***st was poor - but he took on a team that were doomed anyway! If he had have succeeded, he'd not be out of work now becasue he'd have pulled off a miracle. So can we really take that into account?

Norwich was his first job, and everybody either ****s up and/or learns a lot in their first job. So I am not prepared to take that into consideration.

He is here. He is our new manager. MM owns the club he bought and is entitled to hire whoever he likes. A lot of companies do that.

We spent a long time berating MON when he failed to get results - look what he did for us. The same could / might have been said about MA, but in business, if the boss does not get on with one of his underlings, the underling goes. Personal feelings do not come into it. It was a shame as he might have been excellent, but we have to move forward.

I think it's time for someone to speak out. Not necessarily in favour of the appointment, but to give the guy a chance.

For those of you who are slagging the guy and his record already, just think ahead. If Megson gets us up, you are all going to look pretty fu cking stupid.

Give the guy a chance and lets see what he can do with this squad.

If he doesn't get results, he won't be arond long anyway because MM clearly does not suffer poor results. Either way, it's a win-win situation.

Either we get promotion, or Megson goes. Simple as.

I've had my say - you can agree or disagree. I don't really care. I just don't want to keep reading the umpteen anti - Megson threads and posts from people who are more concerned that MM did not pick a fan's favourite than someone who might be the best manager we have had in a long time.

See ya!

Apologies, Ric - I just started a Pro-Megson thread. I didn't know you'd done this.

Perhaps you can take my post, put it in here and close the thread??

I like the hysteria regarding Megson's style of football by some on here. It soon get's forgotten. I still don't see the same people posting about Martin Allen's reputation of the style of football he employed at his previous clubs.

Well put! I agree..

I actually wanted this guy to replace Micky Adams when he moved on, his record at WBA was quite impressive.

Make your mind up.

I can giv e positive spin to the Megson signing:

The fact that is has once again justified me decision not to buy a season ticket this season!!!!

I received two letters this morning asking me to buy season tickets for the kids.

Someone somewhere is pissing themselves, but it isn't me.

Daggars, i used to use Megson as a 'bogey man' for the kids.............I would say,

'if your naughty, the Megson will become Manager of our lovely club'.....

the kids would be so terrified and at times would have nightmares at the thoughts, but it has come true, how will the kids cope and how long can I keep this truth away from them!!!!

Nothing to do with loyalty mate, I support my club through and through, but more of a case of priorities, money and value, and with a thrid child due anytime now, I cannot justify buying a season ticket on it's merits!!!

Yes, I agree there are more 'bigger' supporters of city then me and would sacrifice alot more then me, but that's there decision and good on em!!!

I wonder how "anti Megson" this forum will be if by the end of the season we have climbed into the play offs or even the top two ? surley regardless of the style of football the ultimate aim is gain promotion, so I for one will be getting behind Megson and the team and giving him a fair crack of the whip. We have to give Megson a clean slate and judge him by what he achieves here at Leicester City and not on past performances.

I would hazard a bet that everyone on here would take automatic promotion via long ball football than mid-table with pretty football, so come on lets give Megson a chance and start on Saturday with a positive crowd and take it from there.

Thats fair enough!

I though you were suggesting you dont buy tickets because you dont like the manager.

I personally couldnt give a monkeys who the manager is, if city get a good run going then i suspect that some people on here who are gonna burn their tickets or send them back or email the club in disgust might just regret being so fickle.

On the other hand if we go on a losing run im sure Megson will get the bullet, thats football for you!!

I cant beleive how much negativity is flying around, Megson should be given a chance.
