FilboFox Posted 17 May 2008 Author Posted 17 May 2008 ****!!! I've just signed Wayne Rooney for Leicester from Man Utd for £45 million and before he's even played a game, he's gone and got himself a torn calf muscle and is out for 3-4 months... WHAT A PISSER!!! Anyone else had something like that happen?

Daggers Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 £45 Million. What season are you in? I hate it when you try to sign a player but you're unable to gain a work permit for him. That's the level of serious investment I am expecting from Mandaric this close season - I do hope Holloway doesn't fritter it all on one player like that though.

FilboFox Posted 17 May 2008 Author Posted 17 May 2008 £45 Million. What season are you in? I hate it when you try to sign a player but you're unable to gain a work permit for him. 09/10... but he's worth it... nearly ALL of his stats are near 20! They were asking £70 million to start with so I was reasonably pleased with £45 million... I would have preferred to not have spent that amount on one player but I have a mean strike force now of Ashley Chambers who is a beast and now Wayne Rooney... well it will be when he's fit again.

Well I thought I might as well... I've made Leicester one of the richest clubs in the world though with my tight control of the finances which is why I can afford that kind of signing.
AmericanScott Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 I finished top of the Championship on the last day of the season and went up. Bought Leonardo from Ajax Bogdan Stancu from Rapid F. Campbell on loan from Man utd. Aleksandrov from some random team. Christian Portilla from a spanish team Fitz Hall from relegated Wigan :\ Total: 10M in transfer fees. And after 15 games, i'm at the foot of the table Can someone help me!? P.s. Ashley Chambers is too good for this game. last season he scored 13 goals in 10 apps. This season, 6 goals in 4 apps. LOVE HIM!

LOVE HIM! Well in my first season up with Leicester I won the league... I basically set it out so that you look to play wide as much as possible on the counter and that you make sure your defense is covered by a defensive midfielder who is GOOD and I mean REALLY good. Someone that is going to be a rock there game after game... Makalele-esque. Don't play too attacking in your style as the Premiership teams are just too good at countering so play fairly normally and look to counter their attacks. Although its risky letting them come at you, it does work in getting you goals. Defensively, make sure that you keep them back from running forward for various set pieces and when the ball goes out of play as you'll lose the line which is key in stopping the Premiership teams from breaking away. Offside might seem an odd choice but it's worked for me... tight marking doesn't though as your players get dragged into following the opposition players and they leave gaping holes in the formation which is no good. Hopefully that helps... let me know how it goes and I'll see if I can provide any more help... confidence will be low at the club though and that won't help your chances now... but persevere... I'm sure you can pull it off.
AmericanScott Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Thanks a lot buddy I am going to have a crack with your advice now. My last two results have been okay by the way. 2-2 at Man Utd 0-0 home v Liverpool. Need a big win against Arsenal now :\

FilboFox Posted 19 May 2008 Author Posted 19 May 2008 Just thought I'd share this amazingly wonderful afternoon's FM-ing with you all... Half way through the season, 19 games to be precise, I went into a game with Chelsea which was basically make or break. Win, and I'd be 13 points behind them and would have a slim chance of catching them at the top to win the league, lose and I'd be 19 points behind and I think I'd have given up on the title hopes. Well, I won... it WAS the turning point as at that point as from 13th, I began the steady climb to 2nd with one game left and just one point behind Chelsea. The final league games were Tottenham vs LEICESTER and Chelsea vs Newcastle. Chelsea were 1 point ahead of us and had a MUCH better goal difference so we HAD to win and hope that Newcastle did us a MASSIVE favour. Well, what ensued was fantastic entertainment and had me jumping around with my heart in my throat... sad really... but hey, what can you do when you are so involved? Chelsea immediately started badly as Newcastle took the lead through Owen on the 12th minute and then the onus was on us to get the win. Half time came and we were at 0-0 and Chelsea were 0-1 down so I made the team start to tackle harder and push more and it immediately paid off as we took the lead in the 47th minute through Chambers. Time drew on and I was getting more and more worried as Tottenham had attack after attack and really looked like scoring. Then, Newcastle scored again... Chelsea 0-2 Newcastle. We had a MASSIVE chance. I was REALLY worried then as we headed into the last 10 minutes and Tottenham looked even more dangerous... and my fears were realised when they equalised in the 88th minute. I was devastated... over a game... how sad, but I do get far too involved. I then just sent the ENTIRE team all out and playing hoofball and with 4 minutes of stoppage time, I was still hoping and with time ticking we entered the final seconds... the clock overlapped into extra-extra time and the ball fell to David Norris who ran forward and from 30 yards out lashed it home. I hit the roof! I had done it again! Leicester City - Premiership Champions 2008/09, 2009/10!!! :w00t:

Leicester City - Premiership Champions 2008/09, 2009/10!!! :w00t: well done mate!! what i did was similar but not as dramatic, arsenal were ahead by two points on the last day of the season, i had to play united who were 9th and not doing amazingly well but they were getting better with good signings and arsenal had blackburn who were the surprise package of the season!! i beat united 3-0 with united but blackburn smashed arsenal 5-1 and all those goals were in the first half so it was pretty much done!
