davieG Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Leicester linked with free agents Patrick Suffo and Mohammed Kallon could both be in line to join Leicester on trials. New manager Gary Megson is allready chasing the market for possible loan signings, but both of the players could sign, since they are free agents. Suffo has been on a trial at Dundee United, but former Leicester manager Craig Levein went for other options. Suffo has played in Israel recently and also been at Coventry and Sheffield United. Mohammed Kallon never managed to convince Birmingham manager Steve Bruce, and he left St Andrews last week. Kallon is a former Inter and Monaco player. Both players are forwards, but can also be used in midfield. Suffo has a number of caps for Cameroon while Kallon is an international for Siarra Leone.
Tevez Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 I'm not complaining, but we really need to get rid of some players first.
Brainy Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Suffo - no Kallon - yes How old is Kallon now anyway?
TheBlinding Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Didn't Birmingham say no because he couldn't get a work permit?
dandannieldanok Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Didn't Birmingham say no because he couldn't get a work permit? I think it was possible but not really worth the time and energy.
DB11 Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Well if CL didn't want Patrick Suffo I'm doubt that he would be very good here. Mohammed Kallon I would take, but only if we can get rid of some of the dead wood we already have. Didn't Birmingham say no because he couldn't get a work permit? That's what I read on SSN.
Brainy Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Didn't Birmingham say no because he couldn't get a work permit? I think their were concerns over his fitness.
Pete_foxes Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Brum & Derby were both in for Kallon. Both had problems with Work Permits, I dont see why it would be any different for us if we tried to sign him as i'm unaware if the third time lucky rule applies
Thracian Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Just for Megson's information: In terms of priority... We need a 20 goals a season striker (or two). We need a goalscoring/making left winger. We need a goalscoring/goalmaking attacking midfielder. We need a second left-back. I don't see Mattock as an option just yet.

Though i think Weso and Clemence will fashion out the chances for strikers regardless Clemence is our top assister this season so hopefully he keeps it up.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 We need a goalscoring/making left winger. We need a goalscoring/goalmaking attacking midfielder. So Levi is not the answer

Thracian Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 So Levi is not the answer For the umpteenth time Porter is an attacking central midfielder. True he is arguably the best left-sided midfielder we have at the moment and he has shown himself capable of scoring and making goals. But he's not doing that right now and a bit of proper competition won't do him any harm whether he responds and regains his best form or whether he falls short. I said in the summer we wouldn't score enough goals with the current personnel because of shortcomings in various places and Porter is subject to that criteria like everyone else involved. Porter has excellent shooting technique but, in his current role, simply doesn't appear in scoring/goalmaking positions often enough. That needs to change wherever he plays.
Vennegoor10 Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 surely an player who has backflip celebration potential should be signed at any cost?

David Guiza Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohamed_Kallon However manager Steve Bruce decided not to sign him after it was reported that it may not be possible to obtain a work permit for the player
Cheese Me Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohamed_KallonHowever manager Steve Bruce decided not to sign him after it was reported that it may not be possible to obtain a work permit for the player Yes please!!!!!!!! Where's the link for the rumour though?
Lisburn Fox Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 I am currently in Sierra Leone and they are football mad I have mentioned this rumour to lads I am working with and they don't know anything about it. Kallon owns a nightclub (Old Skool) about 500 meters from my place, me and some other brits play football there on a Tuesday (5 a side pitch in the grounds) I will mention it to the manager of the place he is related to Kallon. If there is any noise he will know. I am going to watch the Sierrsa Leone national team twice next month Vs Benin 12 Oct and Vs one of the Guini's on the 14th. He is the Captain so I will have a look at him. If he is around I will catch up with him. Sierra Leone had an election recently and a new Govt were announced today who have strong support inthe Kenema area where he was born so I would'nt be surprised if he did'nt make a trip back. One of the lads who plays on a Tuesday is the Britsh High Commision lad in charge of visa's and work permits to Leonees. Who knows might be able to swing a few things Ha Ha.
