SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 For the umpteenth time Porter is an attacking central midfielder.True he is arguably the best left-sided midfielder we have at the moment and he has shown himself capable of scoring and making goals. But he's not doing that right now and a bit of proper competition won't do him any harm whether he responds and regains his best form or whether he falls short. I said in the summer we wouldn't score enough goals with the current personnel because of shortcomings in various places and Porter is subject to that criteria like everyone else involved. Porter has excellent shooting technique but, in his current role, simply doesn't appear in scoring/goalmaking positions often enough. That needs to change wherever he plays. Porter's a touchy subject Kallan sounds good
MPH Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 I am currently in Sierra Leone and they are football mad I have mentioned this rumour to lads I am working with and they don't know anything about it. Kallon owns a nightclub (Old Skool) about 500 meters from my place, me and some other brits play football there on a Tuesday (5 a side pitch in the grounds) I will mention it to the manager of the place he is related to Kallon. If there is any noise he will know. I am going to watch the Sierrsa Leone national team twice next month Vs Benin 12 Oct and Vs one of the Guini's on the 14th. He is the Captain so I will have a look at him. If he is around I will catch up with him. Sierra Leone had an election recently and a new Govt were announced today who have strong support inthe Kenema area where he was born so I would'nt be surprised if he did'nt make a trip back. One of the lads who plays on a Tuesday is the Britsh High Commision lad in charge of visa's and work permits to Leonees. Who knows might be able to swing a few things Ha Ha. quality.

Like that 5 yard effort he somehow failed to even get on target on Saturday.
majestic fox Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 i would welcome kallon to leicester, but not the other, based on the fact that if craig levein didn't want him he cant be up to much kallon's always had a good rating on lma
Bryn Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Club Appearances (Goals) Vicenza 25 (8) Inter Milan 42 (14) Monaco 37 (12) Al Ittihad (loan) 26 (12) Not a bad recent record.
The People's Hero Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Like that 5 yard effort he somehow failed to even get on target on Saturday. Fryatt's fault. Incomprehensible analogy. Extremely defensive bizarre statement with a question mark at the end as if it's a question. Well, you'd know all about that.

The People's Hero Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 he scored most of them for top european teams in quality leagues, the championship should be a breeze for him Yeah. None of those teams have a wide player who can deliver quality balls with the same regularity and alarming ease that Porter does.

Update went to 5 a side and spoke to the night club manager who phoned Kallon, seems that an English club (not Birmingham) are interested and are looking into work permit issues he would'nt say who but when they mentioned Leicester he did'nt deny it seemed a bit taken aback on how they knew but they told him I had asked, he said he will let them know if anything happens. On the work permit issue the score is, the CLUB applies to the Home Office (not High Commision) dept and the rule of thumb is, if the player plays 75% of his countries internationals (YES) and that country is in the top 70 in the world (NO) they will pretty much get a smooth passage through the red tape if however they do not then the red tape gets thicker and the criteria gets more complicated. As Kallon has no ties to the UK at all and with Sierra Leone still more famous for Civil War and Diamonds than football I should imagin the red tape becomes more like razor wire (possible but sometimes just to painfull to bother) according to my man if the club really really wanted him they could get it done. What we have to ask ourslves is, is this man worth all the admin and man hours. I will make my judgement when I see him play in October he has said he will be at Old Skool over the weekend and even if he is not a Leicester man will have a drink with us.
Geo V Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Kallon to Leicester? I thought the same as from what i saw of him at Inter, he was a real handful. But, and I know its a big but, he did go on loan to Egypt of all places with Al-Ittihad so maybe his career is goin so down the pan that we have a chance BTW Lisburn, I suppose we have a decent chance in obtaining a permit for the lad but the question is realistically, would he join us?! One things for sure, he wants to be the Sierra Leone version of Trevor Benjamin as he moves clubs every season FFS! Kallon until the summer?!

I agree with you Geo V as I said I don't know if the admin would be worth the gamble (you have first hand knowledge of the man so if you say he is or is not I will take that), as far as Sierra Leone (SL) TB goes he could be SL version of every player as he is 1 of only 2 full time proffesionals the other being a lad called Dodo's (crap) playing in MLS. My guess is it will fizzle out wothout a trace and no one including me will be that bothered.

Of course he fookin is. He's not the sort of player who plys his trade with a club like us, if we get the chance to sign him then we must do everything possible to get him.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 One of my best mates does all the work permits for foreign players in or coming to England. I'll have a word.

He'll just be thrown into the Reserves with Kaebi and Ferreira
Ric Flair Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He'll just be thrown into the Reserves with Kaebi and Ferreira We'll have the best reserve team in the land. I'm sure Ferreira is loving it at the minute. Kaebi doesn't strike me as the most patient of chaps either, he'll twat Megson before the week's out.

The People's Hero Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Maybe we're trying to coach all the attacking flair, ability and individuality out of their game. At least Megson has options now. If he'd been here last year, he's choice was Tiatto, Porter, Hughes or Low for the flanks!
The People's Hero Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Kallon would be awesome for us Someone's getting mixed up. It's probably Rory Fallon. Or Matthew Kilgallon. Or Kevin Gallen. You get the picture.

Villa say yes so its up to hm to pass medical and agree to the switch! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/7002782.stm Sheffield United have signed Aston Villa centre-back Gary Cahill on a three-month loan deal. Sheffield-born Cahill, 21, started 19 Premier League games for Villa last season but has figured just twice for Martin O'Neill's side this term. O'Neill told his club's website: "There has been a lot of interest in Gary but I had to balance his need for football with the needs of the club. "But I am always keen for players to get action wherever possible."

Villa say yes so its up to hm to pass medical and agree to the switch! Shut up, you're an idiot. If you're going to post a rumour about a player don't choose a player that moved five and a half hours earlier. Stop posting shite. Remember this gem? After reading rumour after rumour on this website i feel it is necessary to set the record straight. The two contenders for the job are Simon Grayson and Billy Davies. Grayson has already met MM for talks and Davies is set for talks if Derby agree or he is sacked. My money is on Grayson but i GUARANTEE it will be one of these two! Watch this space!! I dont care whether you think i am just a rumour mill but once this comes through i will be back here replying to every single doubter! Nice guarantee dick for brains.
