WetFlannel Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 i havent heard hardly any at the matches i went to and where i sat, surely he deserves our backing even if we think he wasnt the right appoitment... at the end of the day, he is leicesters manager, he should have our support. It would give him confidence and surely it cant help having thousands of fans chanting bloody 'ginger mourinho' every week or whatever it was. I think nows the time we need to get behind him...

Megson out, Megson out!!! Just joking I totally agree with you. We should back everyone at the club
Anish Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 The manager has to earn the right to have his name chanted. He hasn't earned it.

Micky Ruddle Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 If he does anything constructive for the club, then yeah. Otherwise, no.

WetFlannel Posted 30 September 2007 Author Posted 30 September 2007 i can tell this rallying cry isnt working
jack_LCFC Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 The manager has to earn the right to have his name chanted. He hasn't earned it. Did you chant Martin Allen's name straight away, I did but how could he have earned it? The job of supporters is to get behind the team, not spend their lives moaning in a internet forum.
Tevez Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 The manager has to earn the right to have his name chanted. He hasn't earned it. How did Allen Deserve it?

Micky Ruddle Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 It's not an excuse but Allen was enthusiastic. Already, he had a good relationship with the fans. He wanted to take this club forward. OK so does Megson, but he isn't showing it. There is no drive from him. No passion. Allen had that about him, but i'm not going to bum him. He's gone. Over the months, if Megson is doing well, then i will sing Gary Megsons Army.

How did Allen Deserve it? I didn't chant Allen's name straight away. Anyway, I think a 4-1 victory over the league leaders is part of the reason Allen had his name chanted. I'm sure if he'd lost his matches or drawn against teams like QPR and Stoke at home people wouldn't be chanting his name.
Thracian Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 I wouldn't boo the bloke or wish him ill but I cannot get any enthusiasm for Megson at all. From what I've seen so far if his approach to football were mirrored across the country the game would be played to fast-emptying stadia. His tactics seem to reflect the way he played - competitive, professional, but largely lacking in flair or attacking ambition. Three of city's recent performances have been on the downside of mediocre and were made worse on two occasions by unambitious substitutions. Megson's perhaps lucky. City fans are programmed to put up with anything now. We've had a succession of over-defensive managers and I don't suppose Megson will be any more boring than the others. As a footballer Megson was a spoiler. He basically stopped people playing. He just seems to have carried that philosophy into management - for our own team as well as the opposition. I just feel numb about it now. My time on this forum may well be coming to an end, or virtually so. I have tried my hardest to somehow inspire a change of thought and emphasis at Leicester. Tried to persuade them to embrace the best things in the game, to attack with vigour and conviction, to be inventive and enterprising. I have suggested they pick footballers who make things happen. People with the energy and accuracy to pass and move with collective fluency. People with speed, skill and vision. I have tried to get the fans to appreciate our own young players, to encourage them and to stop believing that every overpaid import is some sort of superstar who's somehow been missed by all but ourselves. In both quests I have largely failed and thus taken up time I cannot afford. Perhaps because I am no longer young, no longer relevantly active in sport and can no longer demonstrate that you can release the shackles, play with organisation but without fear or inhibitions and still be successful. Not that the reasons matter. After 50 years as a fan I now genuinely look forward to reserves matches and Academy games (when they're played) far more than most first team games. At one stage Mandaric just might have got me onside - not that I imagine it matters one iota to him. I warmly applauded his sporting gesture at Forest. It seemed genuine. And had he chosen a Keegan or Newell type as manager to take us forward with a spirit of adventure - I might well have been excited like a good many others. Instead we seem to have the footballing equivalent of the epilogue.
Wezleylowski Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 How did Allen Deserve it? Allen didnt deserve it. It was just a show of defiance from the fans towards Milan
ASH17LCFC Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 Allen was the man to take us to the Premiership, so we had to give him all the support we could and then he got sacked for nothing. Megson won't ever get his name chanted because no one wanted him here.

Instead we seem to have the footballing equivalent of the epilogue. Although a little junior to yourself (only been a supporter for 38yrs), I do understand and largely agree with your sentiments expressed. I too was spurred on by the incoming of Mandaric and 'the dream', though as Leicester fans we really should know better shouldn't we! I don't think we ask a lot really, we don't realistically expect Champions League football or Premiership titles, just a bit of fight and hope and perhaps a little entertainment on the way. The premiership isn't the holy grail it seems anyway if when you get there you just get thumped every week. I know the prospect of seeing MU Chelsea and co sounds a great prospect but it can wear a bit thin under such circumstances. Boring defensive thuggish tactics (ala Derby last year) just don't work in the Premiership, but a side trying to play football like Reading does. The season ticket lasts til the end of the season anyway so best not to waste it, we'll see what happens then, though like you, Megson leaves me cold! Regards.
teblin Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Allen didnt deserve it. It was just a show of defiance from the fans towards Milan A defiance of not knowing all the facts and getting caught up in someone just because they jump around and tell jokes.
Strokes Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 I hate GM and always will, he'll get no chants from me.Saturdays display sums him up for me, no character.
The People's Hero Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Megson saps life from games. He'll suck the life out of all games, for both teams involved. He might eventually get us results if we allow him to wheel and deal and beat all individuality and flair (as if there is much anyway) from our troops - <Thracian> cos that's what they are to him, dispensable servants and droids used to churn out results according to GM's dour masterplan. </Thracian> I hope we do well. I really do. But I'm finding it difficult to maintain enthusiasm.
davieG Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 I think we should think about singing some players names before we even get to the manager. Where are the songs for Clemence, Fulop, the CBs, the only one who gets a song is Fryatt, even when he's not playing Or how about some to boost the youngsters like Mattock & Stearman. Chanting for Megson wont improve the performance on the pitch directly but singing the players names could. On a personal note I've never been too taken with singing manager's names I'd much sooner be singing about LCFC and the players.
Zingari Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 wake up meggie i think i got something to say to you its late september ( b*gger just too late) and we really need to score some goals
He's not bald Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 I hate GM and always will, he'll get no chants from me.Saturdays display sums him up for me, no character. I agree, these are gloomy days for Leicester and despite all the hype, activity in the transfer market and numerous changes we haven't moved forward at all,it's very depressing and I fear the worse tomorrow evening after which we will go 3 weeks without a home match!
dave the caveman Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 This is all rather superficial. Taking Keegan, for example. There is absolutely no trace of managerial success in the Keegan back-catalogue, not one tiny bit. Zero. Nothing. But he's an entertainer, he's charming and he's good looking. So he must be good, right? Errr, no. I think if we are honest then it's plain to see that we are all somewhat guilty of judging the man Megson purely because he is disgustingly ugly and has a name reminiscent of d*ck-cheese.
