Celtic 2 - 1 Milan

It wasnt long ago that their national team was a joke and there best domestic clubs did bugger all in Europe but its great to see that the Glasgow Giants are doing so well as it must be a bit of a chore for some of there players to play so many games in the league that can only be described as easy.

BTW as the betting thread will prove, I backed Celtic to win today as Milan I think have not won in 5 league games I think I read and fancied Celtic to come through and they did, albeit in the 90th minute.

Celtic. :D

I'm so forking glad they did this after Rangers won last night. Brilliant stuff. :D

That fan was a wayne kerr though. Should have stayed off the pitch, had no right to be there. But the rolling around and Oscar-winning theatrics from Dida were ridiculous. AFTER he tried chasing the bloke.

As for the fan's 'assault' on Dida, I've just been reading the match report in 'La Repubblica', and the Italian journalist contemptuously dismissed the incident as simulation on the goalkeeper's part. Galliani, one of the key Milan executives, has just announced that there will be no appeal to UEFA from Milan about the episode, this suggesting that they are embarrassed about Dida's play acting. But then again, you can hardly expect UEFA to ignore an episode like this, and the precedents all point to Celtic losing the game by default after an attack like this. It'll be interesting to see what course of action is eventually taken.

that would be disasterous on celtics behalf, but i doubt they would proceed to these lengths

Im watching the highlights and Dida was a disgrace.

The bad thing about watching Glasgow's big two is listening to their nutty supporters as it makes me jealous.

Lyon consistently sell there best players and in recent times have lost Abidal, Essien, Diarra and Malouda and despite bringing in some decent replacements, they are not the force of old at European level IMO.

at the prices offered for them, they'd be stupid not to

They are getting good fees for players but its difficult to consistently sell your best players and do well away from what can only be described as an average French first division or Championat or whatever its called. They haven't become a terrible side overnight and yesterday against Rangers they hit the woodwork 3 times and even that game could have been different but I personally don't think they are the threat in Europe they have been over the last two seasons.

Why do they keep saying that Rangers & Celtic winning is good for scottish Football?:frusty:

Don't really need to say much about Dida as everyone has the same views really...

Because Rangers and Celtic buy up the SPL's best players. Because they give Scottish internationals a chance to play top level football and aid their development. It also brings prestige and money into the Scottish game which can never be bad.

That was so fooking awesome - Nakamura comes on after an injury for the last 5 mins, he breaks into the square which I don't think anyone from either side had been able to do for the whole match, shoots, deflected, Donati I think it was put in an absolute cracker which Dida could only parry, and then a tidy follow up from McDonald to put the onion into the auld onion bag!!

As for that fan... complete and utter bollocks Dida's reaction was. Here's a video of it:

He got a slap on the chest, and later on went off with an icepack on his face!!! Disgraceful theatrics from a team of diving cheats.

Not that I condone being a willy puller, but Dida lapped it up beyond belief. I suspect a big fine but it's hardly the flare/coins/bottle throwing of Inter fans that caused a game to be called off.

The fan will be banned and fined.

Celtic won't be banned, but may have their ground closed for a couple of games, which will hammer them financially and affect their chances of qualifying from a very tough group (especially after Shakhtar's away win at Benfica).

As for Dida, he should face a lengthy ban for bringing his club and the game into disrepute - or at the least be sent to Old Trafford to take some acting lessons from Ronaldo!

Topped rangers win then... can scotland do any wrong at the moment

I'm with Burnham. This doesn't top Rangers Win. Milan may be European champs but:

Celtic are known to be very good at home.

Rangers haven't done so well in the Champions League in the years they've qualified for it, they beat the "6 in a row" French champions in their own backyard, scoring 3 goals and not conceding any. (albeit with a bit of luck) Oh and let's not forget Lyon hadn't lost there for 19 matches in Europe prior to this.

Rangers is much more impressive.

The 3-0 scoreline to the Arse was impressive, although Lyon's form has been very crappy of late regardless of past CL games, and so has Milan's.

The manner in which we won was much more exciting :)

Scotty Mcdonald is a champ i've followed him since his days at Southampton great to see him getting noticed banging them in for a top club, 5 goals in last 3 games now :D
