LENNY GLOVER Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 What's the line-up? newton and sheehan in for kish and mattock
Dames Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 City: Fulop, Kisnorbo, N'Gotty, McAuley, Newton, Stearman, King, Chambers, Sheehan, Hume, Fryatt. UGH. Gunna be a long afternoon.
Koke Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Newton offers a lot more than Kish when going forward. So I think its a positive move from Megson.
Thracian Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 That's some responsibility for Kingy - having two players I would rank as occasional midfielders alongside him. Kishishev and Newton with King would have made more sense to me but the boss might be setting his stall out to attack more or may be concerned about the veteran Kishishev's fitness. Is Mattock rested after such a heavy programme or injured? Leicester will do well to win, especially without a target man which seems surprising to me given that Sheehan is capable of putting some decent balls into the box.
Jack Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Newton offers a lot more than Kish when going forward. So I think its a positive move from Megson. Agreed. I don't really rate Kish tbh, I think he can be lazy at times.
Nath Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 That's one weak midfeild we have. But hopefully they know what wanted from them and they do the job.
Koke Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 That's one weak midfeild we have. But hopefully they know what wanted from them and they do the job. Megson is obviously going for it. It does look weak on paper and I think Thrac is right in saying Newton-King-Kish would have been more appropiate. We'll see how it unfolds however.

I don't know where chambers has impressed him since being in that position.
Thracian Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Nice to hear the stats on King - reported as only giving the ball away once. I'm not sure he was quite that accurate but I did think people underrated his contribution and the stats appear to confirm it. Let's hope his concentration is as good today and his overall contribution. I would have preferred Kishishev alongside him but the manager may well have good reason for his decision.

Can't complain about that. Perhaps he needs to put himself in there more?
James_lcfc Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Well with Shaun Newton playing surely a win has been well and truly ruled out..... Heartbreaking.

Koke Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Well with Shaun Newton playing surely a win has been well and truly ruled out.....Heartbreaking. Come off it. Newton is not that bad. He's a decent player and sometimes he has his good moments. Lets hope he has it today as well.
Joe. Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Come off it.Newton is not that bad. He's a decent player and sometimes he has his good moments. Lets hope he has it today as well. Newton is very bad. I wish we'd never signed him to be honest. Since he's been playing for us he's had one good game, that's it.
davieG Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Newton's not one of my chosen players but he can, if he feels like it put in a decent performance. He had an excellent CM game for the reserves putting in loads of effort.
Thracian Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 King was quiet in the game imo, but when called upon he done the job. Can't complain about that. Perhaps he needs to put himself in there more? King looked as if he was under strict instructions to give the midfield some solidity and to try to do the simple things well. He didn't appear to have licence to play an expansive game. He's hard working and a willing defender but he's not a Tiatto type. He doesn't clatter people and give daft free kicks away nor would I call him especially forceful in a physical sense. But he reads the game quite well, nicks the ball and moves it on smoothly. His team-mates will find him an easy player to be alongside because if they make a move he'll try to supply the pass. He'll also make himself available for a return. What bothers me today though is whether he'll have any freedom to supplement our attack which really is one of his strengths. Megson I feel may well want him to continue feeling himself into the pace of first team football yet awhile, particularly with Clemence and Wesolowski missing. And while King is not immune to a bad or ordinary game, if those are his orders, he does have the self-discipline to obey them.
davieG Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 City: Fulop, Kisnorbo, N'Gotty, McAuley, Newton, Stearman, King, Chambers, Sheehan, Hume, Fryatt. Subs: Henderson, Kishishev, Cort, Campbell, Kenton.

Thracian Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Sheehan corner and McAuley scores. I said yesterday a centre-back would score and it's Sheehan's second assist of the season.
