davieG Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Championship Bet of the Week: Sheffield Wednesday to beat Leicester City Top value this weekend at Hillsborough. Not for those attending who will doubtless be subjected to a trial of error, but for those gambling on the outcome. Despite Leicester’s slightly higher position in the table, these two sides are evenly matched. You could even argue that Wednesday are stronger. By their own manager’s admission, Leicester City are like a funeral suit: a solid, functional outfit, utterly lacking in flair. Over the course of the season they will improve but not before they introduce some different, better, players. Sheffield Wednesday have already done so. Starting the season with six straight defeats, Wednesday were spineless, bereft of confidence and experience. They brought in two players with both: Michael Johnson and Graham Kavanagh. The improvement was immediate, leading to consecutive 1-0 victories over Hull and Norwich. For their mid-week trip to table-topping Watford, Wednesday were forced to make six changes due to injury and illness. The first 20 minutes were messy; Wednesday trailed 2-0. “Men against girls,†was the verdict of their manager, Brian Laws. Rather than crumple, as they had earlier in the season, Wednesday mounted a comeback, Kavanagh scored and Wednesday’s cerebral approach almost earned them a point. Leicester are capable of doing that at Hillsborough - indeed five of Leicester's eight games have finished in a draw - but the price of 9/4 with Bet365 is way too skinny. The 6/4 offered by the same company about the home win for Wednesday, however, is chubby in the extreme. Take it for a run. Link
Zingari Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 i think we will be in for a high scoring game today with both teams thinking they need to attack more (but partly its because last night i dreamt wednesday won 4-2 )
jaffa1970 Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Phube... Will be live chatting here in Melbourne at midnight. God I hope the staying up is worth it!! Come on you foxes!!
Simon Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Good luck to the lads today. Think we have a decent chance of getting a result actually- but would like to see Humey play midfield instead of Chambers- the lad just isn't a midfielder (well neither is Humey, but you get the point). Will be keeping track of the game via phone today- am visting friends in Essex today and off to see SARFEND Vs Tranmere. Duh duh duh duh ODHIAMBO!
Mikey Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 COME ON CITEHHHHH !!! Need a win, and good luck to all those going Would be going but could only afford one out of Shef Wed and Chelsea. I took the latter.
Monk Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 I'm unfortunately not going today - first away game this season I've missed, and I'm off to watch the Rugby at my mate's house so I will have to let this one play out. Come on you blue boys, get your arse in gear. Hope Megs puts out a sensible team this time.
Koke Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Bert started the match thread, so we will get 3 points. We gotta win this. I missed Stoke due to illness and I nearly missed Wolves for that reason too. I'm back to square one now and can't go because I'm feeling absolute shite. 3 points today will definetly change things.
