Nope - but I have an invitation to a Lifecraft VIP event that should have gone to a Mr.Gomez who lives the other side of Erdington. You could have that...
The People's Hero Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Nope - but I have an invitation to a Lifecraft VIP event that should have gone to a Mr.Gomez who lives the other side of Erdington. You could have that... At my old address I got something addressed to somewhere in Maidenhead. That is MILES from maidstone. Couple of things: a) Does no-one in the sorting office have a brain - I mean seriously. b) Why arbitrarily pick my address? (the no and road were obviously different) - or was it not arbitrary? What next? Mail for Kent turning up in Kenya. Post for Leicester turning up in Leigh-on-Sea? Perhaps a hilarious mix up between Bradford and Brentford?

It’s funny how all of my bills and credit card statements have arrived this week, but I’m yet to see this month’s copy of Reader’s Wives materialise through the mailbox.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 So you couldn't stuff a load of letters through the wrong letter box and then knock off hours early? I did say "some of those jobs", I suppose I could probably be a postman. It's got more to do with the fact that I'm happy with my fairly cushy job and I wouldn't want to be a postman, I suppose. I also have respect for people in jobs where there's not a lot of gratitude shown (like mine, really). I know a lot of nurses and teachers who have immense pride in the jobs they do, which is fair enough, but sometimes it spills over into this holier-than-thou attitude. You won't get that from a postman or a dustman etc, which I respect, because I doubt they get a whole lot of job satisfaction yet they still deliver a service. Personally I don't have a problem with the service I get from my postman. If I did, I might not feel the same way. That's the real problem with this country - moaning. You've got postmen moaning about their pay and people moaning about postmen moaning about their pay. For the sake of the following tagline, we should be focusing more on getting in contact with our elderly relatives to see how they're doing and checking they've got everything they need. Less moaning, more phoning.

You're spot on with certain smug nurses, teachers, policemen, firemen etc. Granted we need these people and they provide a great service, but I actively avoid seeing a friend now who was a very good friend because ALL he will talk about it police work and how it's the only job worth doing etc etc etc.

My wife is a Nurse, as are many of our friends. Well her friends, but they became mine. In all honesty, the only time I ever hear them moan about pay is when a certain sector get a huge pay rise and they get 1.5% deferred over 18 months or similar. I really have never met a nurse who is holier-than-thou. They are a special breed, nurses, who deal with the sick and the dying. As such, they have a very odd sense of humour. They are not in it for the money - it's the pride and helpfulness they can offer.
Babylon Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 i'll take your word for it; you don't seem to have much time on your hands for idle chit chat (on here and i suppose other chat rooms)stressful ; yeah right You referring to the post made at 6.47pm?? Yeah my post count is huge every day. What do I average 2?????
Daggers Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 They are not in it for the money - it's the pride and helpfulness they can offer. Those Kent nurses must be pretty special...because the one's my wife works with are a bunch of work-shy, perma-absent, moaning and incompetant fekkers.
Rincewind Posted 11 October 2007 Author Posted 11 October 2007 From what I've read part of the grievance is because some postman knock off early instead of returning to do another round. What constitutes as early? one hour? 30 minutes 2 hors? Some rounds will take longer than others and most are serviced by regular postman. This would nean some doing two rouinds whileothers do one. Some may time it so there is not enough time to return to the depot. I am only guessing here. Is it fair that some postmen have to do two rounds? As for addresses on envelopes a lot of sorting is done electronically and mistakes can be made if the sender does not clearly address the letter. Often the postcode may be enough in certain areas. Saying that our house do receive lewtters for other addresses. mainly because of the way the letter has been addressed. ie number of house before flat number with no clue as to which is which.. We have a postman who thinks sod this this house is near enough. Instead of knocking on the door and asking if anybody answers. No doubt there are some postman who like to make sure each letter is delivered to the right address but they may be the ones not in a rush to get home to their wives/girlfriends/lovers/partners/boyfriends./mistresses
