hurray. my paycheque has arrived. I can now start spending and eat in five days time after its cleared.

Can I ask any postman on here that if they decide to walk out again can you do it in the middle of the month? I promise to show sympathy to your hard done to stories. :D

Theres no need, they must of read your mind, they've orgainsed their next strike for next week, the week begginging the 15th.

Good of them isn't it.

Oh, did I mention the average wage of a postie is 19k.

Joke.

I'd do it. Start early, finish early. Do some studying. Great plan.

It's not like some posties are moonlighting, which is why they don't want their working practices changing....

No, not at all.

Wankers the lot of them.

I must admit, I gave their pathetic line at the sorting office some grief a few days ago. Placards and the lot.

You've got no support from the public, you nobs. Fu ck off.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ultra is a postman.

most posties do a bl**dy good job ;

out in all weathers , being confronted on a daily basis by irresponsible householder's nasty dogs ; delivering mail into letterboxes that seem to be set with bear trap springs etc etc ,

i don't know if the 19k figure is true or just a big adam crozier lie (what does he get btw?) but no doubt some of the workshy layabouts "posting" on here all day make similar amounts or more and if not , they get off fat computer bound arses and become a postie if they think its so ****ing brilliant

i've never been a postie but i delivered the yellow pages for a couple of weeks and i can say its bl**dy hard work

oh boo bloody hoo. Everyone could moan about how much they get paid, so why don't we all just get together and strike?

They know what it takes to be a postman. If they don't like it, get another fooking job, or better, don't sign up in the first place. None of it's a secret, they've made the decision.

There are many worse ways to make a living mate! I prefer to look at it like this. They start work early and finish earlier than the rest of us so can enjoy the sunshine in the summer. They have a job that is active that helps keep them healthy as opposed to the soppy sods who have to sit on their ar$es in some office with hardly any fresh air, they have unions looking after them left right and centre which doesn't allow them to either overwork or do anything that is remotely a health and safety risk like carrying a heavy bag full of post (Ive seen people lugging around three times as much stuff coming home from the supermarkets lol) and at Christmas and holidays they also get tips from there customers.

Now thats not a bad job mate for the money thats for sure!

All it'll take is one of the courier firms like DHL/Fedex/etc to get themselves into gear, set up a suitable delivery network & the great lumbering dinosaur of the postal service will die on it's arse. That's a big ask mind, given the infrastructure involved in such an operation, but god willing it'll happen.

Royal Mail's been run appallingly for years, they're trying to bring it out of the stone age but meeting resistence from people who think they're owed a living. The business is run for the benefit of the owners, not the employees, it's not a fu cking charity. Perhaps they should move to Venezuela if they don't agree with this capitalist regime.

Nobody is saying that they don't do a good job, it's the nature of the job. When I think of the types of jobs that are paid over the average minimum wage, and when I think of pushing bits of paper through a letter box, even those with tight springs, I can't see how they can justify such a salary. And if they were successful, don't you think that people in other professions start to push for higher salaries, after all, we can't be seen to be paid the same as a postie. Then the cost of living rises, inflation rises, interest rates rise etc etvc, and the postal workers end up in the same situation that they are in now. So all in all they will have achieved nothing. If they still have a job, because where do you think the rises will come from?

If they want more money, what's to stop them going to University, bettering their education and joining a profession that pays more?

i'm pleased for you ; but if posties feel strongly enough that they deserve more , fair play to them ; i don't think any set of workers go on strike without reasonable cause ,

it may not seem reasonable cause to some of the OWLs on here but so what ; **** them ; they don't do the job ;):D

19k is alot of money for unskilled work, if they get much more they'll be on the same as proffs like teaching. And as Lisa has pointed out, if I were a teacher I'd be pretty miffed about that. I might even go on strike :D

Play.com really suprised me actually, I was very impressed with them.

I ordered a wireless controller for my XBox on Thursday, I didn't expect it to come till a few days after the strikes ended as they normally use Royal mail, however it turned up yesterday curtosey of Parcel force, most impressed.

You're right, my job is sh it.

Rather than find another one, I think I'll strike and whinge about it to a load of people who don't care.
