Anyone know anything about it.

Got a few rings to sell... any advice?

Best off selling on ebay or to jewellers?

Depends on carat, quality, stones (if any), fashion....

This could be a long thread.

Not sure on carat, but good gold, large solitaire diamond, looks good quality although not had a look under a microscope.

Apparently that one was £1300 new.

Got another 2 to sell, think one is white gold and the other sterling silver. One has multi diamond in the band, whilst the other looks more like cubic zirconia to me.

Again?

No mate, trying to scrape together some money for council tax bill, they don't seem amused that I haven't paid it.

And if I want to go to Chelsea....

Take them to a jewellers for evaluation. Do not go to the likes of Samuels, as they are not / were not trained to evaluate. You need to find a small family run type of business and take it there. Tell them it's for insurance purposes and they might give you a rough, but fairly accurate guesstimate there and then. Some of these smaller places might sell them for you - at a cost obviously.

I am not sure if I know of anyone currently in that position - I think most have moved on.

Intriguing stuff. The one that looks like CZ might not be. It doesn't seem to fit the character of the other two.. I presume they are hallmarked??

Have them valued at a jewellers, see what he has to offer, if you ain't happy stick his cut of 50% on top and flog them on ebay.

At least you'll have an idea of their worth.

Cheers, buddy, might ebay them.

I`d attempt to sell it in the local paper and the Ebay. Jewellers are thieves and will usually only pay you the value of the weight of the gold, make all sorts of excuses that they`ll probably melt it down and then as soon as you have sold it to them for pennies they`ll have it in the shop window marked up at twenty times what the paid you for it.

Aye, but if they pay cash I might have to take it.

How much could I get for my Elizabeth Duke Medallion? It's Brass.

Find out where the next Bargain Hunt will be filmed, open a stall and look for the prats with big colourful jumpers and tell them its Georgian or something and demand £200. You`ll probably get it.

Hold on.

You're selling your girlfreind's ring (snigger) so you can go to Chelsea and pay your bills?

Is she aware of this impending loss of jewellery to fund your, erm, life?

I'll take this one in TPH's... erm... enforced absence, shall we say...

TPH is hopefully taking the missus. She hates football. Same situation with me, we're hoping the ladies bond over shoes and stuff.

there is a family led one down church gate. they do valuations for insurance purposes. charge a small amount for it though... its a little bit down from the entrance to virgin megastore. When you tell them you are wondering if they can value them make sure you tell them its for insurance purposes or they will offer you a much lower amount for them first...

Hardy! One of my best mates used to own what can only be described as a booth on Holloway Road down here in London (I say booth as its the smallest shop in history) and he used to sit behind the counter separated by about an 8inch thick bit of glass from the world. He used to basically be a pawn broker and sell second hand stuff which was basically the stuff that people didn't come back to redeem. The amount of quality stuff that he used to get and pay pennies for was unreal as he always went on the weight. 5 weeks later and he had them on the second hand display cabinet for hundreds. He explained how it works and I did look into opening my own business in that field but stuck to extortionate loan rates instead lol

Ah the nostalgia.

Trading silver and gold at 3.30 am at Bermondsey with the mist still obscuring the Thames and Tower Bridge. I once had two silver dealers spend an hour playing a Red Indian Chief One-Armed bandit I hauled down there. The place was full of characters.

This pair chased three of a kind with some fairly heavy side bets and the winner palmed me a oner simply for the fun he'd had when he'd finished taking his mate to the cleaners.

It's reassuring if a bit disheartening to think some of those dealers finally holed up behind glass partitions in places like the Holloway Road. :D It's not behind glass I thought some would end up. Not that anything would have stopped em trading. :D

So... um, do you want the ring or not?
