No love for Laws? OK, he's had a poor start to the season but is someone I wouldn't mind. Also on the potentially about to be sacked list, Dave Jones? OK, I'd rather some of the other options but he's okay compared with some of the names out there.

Why wouldn't I be? I mean, the last former Clough era Forest player that actually made an impression with them that we got as manager did rather well, didn't he? OK, if there was some ridiculously offensive statement he made back in the day (which is a bit before my time) maybe it isn't an option, but I think he's a decent manager.

This was posted last night on a Coventry news site:

OI DOWIE NO!!

Iain Dowie will resign from Coventry City in the morning, Covsupport understands.

The City boss who replaced Micky Adams in February, is expected to say goodbye to his players and speak to Leicester City owner Milan Mandaric about their managerial position which is now vacant after Gary Megson's departure to Bolton Wanderers.

Dowie had been frustrated by the lack of a take-over and monies which tempted him to join City have never materialised.

His backroom staff are also expected to follow him to the Crisp Bowl.

After Micky Adams,Dowie's arrival was a breath of fresh air. He brought the players back together and worked with all areas of the club for the common good.

Although Covsupport are not happy about Dowie going to them at the wrong end of the M69, we wish him well and thank him for his help and support during his time as Coventry City manager.

The same site has now posted a follow-up today:

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS

The news that Iain Dowie is still the manager of Coventry City this lunch-time is good news as the team prepare for the important Championship game against Colchester United tomorrow.

Sections of the media including ourselves yesterday were expecting the departure of Mr Dowie this morning. Whilst Mr Elliott [Cov chairman]has said that he has not heard anything from Leicester, many in the media believe that this story has many more twists and turns to come.

Covsupport ran the story on the understanding of four [my emphasis] good sources which we will protect to the hilt and will be there tomorrow and every other game backing Iain Dowie's team until such time that things change.

Covsupport will continue to run articles which may later prove to be untrue in the interest of keeping City supporters informed.

That site seems well worth keeping an eye on. It will probably hear of anything involving Dowie before anyone else does.

New Bolton manager Gary Megson says he realises he was not first choice for many of the club's fans but he has asked them all to get behind the team.

Megson's appointment was met with anger from many Bolton supporters but he said: "You don't turn up everywhere and get the red carpet laid out.

"The supporters are the bedrock of the club. We need them onside.

"I'll give it everything to get things back on track but I have to accept that maybe I'm not their number one choice."

Sounds familiar!!

I Would like to see Paul Jewell appointed

Simon grayson with tags as number 2,with walshie on the coaching staff wouldnt be too bad either.

Although martin ling from Leyton Orient has been mentioned, and according to a friend of mine,is a strong contender

Knowing our luck,it will be ian dowie...there's something about him i just dont like,.....it might be them eye-brows,or just the fact that he looks like hulk hogan.

Quite ironic

On the day he was installed as the new manager Gary Megson joked when asked how long his deal was. "It is a long term contract, six weeks I think," to which his new boss Milan Mandaric added that it would become seven if he won his first game.

That was six weeks ago today (25th october), yesterday Megson had had enough and departed after he made it clear he wanted to go and talk to Bolton Wanderers about the vacancy in Horwich. I don't think he left with Mandaric's blessing.
