Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric wants a second crack at persuading Paul Jewell to accept the manager's job.

Jewell has already turned down one approach from the Foxes this season, before Gary Megson was handed the role. Now with Megson having made a quick exit from the Walkers Stadium to take over at Bolton, Mandaric is finally hoping to win Jewell around.

The former Wigan boss has been taking time away from football, and he is just coming back to England after a break in Dubai on media business.

The highly-rated Scouser admitted that he gave the Leicester job serious consideration two months ago but felt he was 'not ready'. However he could be in a different mood now.

Mandaric plans to have a chat with Jewell this week. His CV and availability have pushed him ahead of rival candidates like Iain Dowie at Coventry and free agent Peter Reid.

Ironically Jewell recommended Megson for the post last time, but Mandaric has not held that against him.

Mandaric will push the boat out and offer Jewell a big contract, knowing that there is no compensation to pay.

He is reluctant to pursue Dowie because hard-up Coventry would like a £500,000 pay-day, and to lose his salary from their stretched payroll.

Anyone thought about 'Olly' down here in Plymouth?

Blokes doing wonders with that pile of shite.

I got told Souness was in the crowd today, anyone else see him?

Some one on Radio Leicester said that Mike Newell sat in front of them.

Complete bullshit from the Mirror, again..

Paul Jewell has distanced himself from reports linking him with Leicester and Derby - and has received no job offers since leaving Wigan.Leicester are without a manager since the sacking of Martin Allen, while Derby boss Billy Davies is under pressure following a poor start to the Premier League season.

Jewell, however, said he is not actively looking for a job but would consider any offer made to him.

He said: "You can't stop people writing things but I have not been offered any job.

According to the Daily Mail:-

Graeme Souness will hold talks with Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric next week about the manager's job at the Walkers Stadium.

Souness, who ruled himself out of the chance to manage Bolton after being interviewed by Reebok chairman Phil Gartside, has emerged as the front-runner for the job.

I think this would be an option seeing as brian little has the coaching badges and can help either of them along with the running of the club.He knows this club and how passionate the fans are and what there looking for! he would bring the stability this club requires right now.

How on earth would you justify that comment, inconsequentuial coaching badges or not?

For me its a difficult one. The only thing i'm certain of is that the job shouldn't be given to walshy. I love the bloke but its just not an option for a club wanting to reach the premiership. Win our game in hand and we are 2 points off the top 6. We need someone with at least a little experience to capitalise on what is a reasonable position at this stage of the season. Iain Dowie would, on balance, be my choice. He managed to get a financially destitute Oldham side to the play-offs, and took Crystal Palace to the Premier League from a position far worse than the one in which we currently find ourselves. People also seem to forget that although he took that Palace team down, it was the closest relegation battle the top league has seen for years, and Palace were out of the relagation zone on occasions even throughout that day. Our resources are better than that of Palace's so we may not eve find ourselves in such a position all going well. He is a good manager. I have heard people moan about the brand of football which his teams play. To be honest, its not arsenal stylish, but neither were MON's sides. We relied on a direct approach and three central midfielders closing the opposition down. But it worked. And we loved the manager and the players for it. People will point to Dowie's record at Charlton. The poor guy was given barely a quarter of the season. And we should all know from experience how difficult it is for a new manager to bring success to a club that size after the achievements of a previous incumbent who brought incomparable success to the club. I live in Coventry, and believe me, the fans here are shitting themselves at the prospect of losing this guy.
