mikelcfc Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 ok was wondering who would sing for hinm if he got the job. i cant recall anyone singing for megson (apart from "megson to bolton" and the odd megson bumboy at sheff wednesday. i personally didnt sing for megson, i didnt even sing ginger mourinho although i thought it would be funny and would of @ chelsea just to wind them up. . i wouldnt sing for dowie as i cant stand him. however i wouldnt sing anti dowie chant until he has been given a chance. what would you do ?
ratbygeorge Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 i would definitely sing for dowie if he was appointed. he is a great chioce of manager and his sides usually play good football, plus he's no stranger to getting a side promoted and with 10 mins left of his season in the premier league with palace they were staying up, so he is an excellent candidate.
Bert Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 I would. He's better than Megson and it's what we should do as supporters.
Tommeh Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 I would. He's better than Megson and it's what we should do as supporters. Agreed. I never wanted Megson as manager and from the dayhe was appointed I got behind him and if there was a positive song to sing about him I'd join in. Dowie would be the same, although I actually wouldn't mind him as gaffer.
davieG Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 I no longer sing for any manager, anything to do with LCFC or the players and i'll gladly join in, except stand up if you love Leicester.

Steady on, good football??? Never watched Palace play then... (HOOOFFF) No stranger to getting a side promoted.... Or relegated. Not convinced at the moment.

Dowie.... not for me.
SamL Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Personally, I will sing and try to get behind any manager of our club when they've first taken charge. Everyone deserves a chance I suppose but if i'm singing a managers name, I like to be given something back, maybe a win or 2 or loyalty which Megson didn't show. For whoever is manager next, i'd like to see some loyalty before I sing their name because at the moment as a city supporter I feel let down. Yes I never wanted Megson in the first place, yes I didnt agree with his tactics but I don't agree with all this upheaval of finding new managers. Its a joke.
breadandcheese Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 I've taken a decision that I won't sing for any manager until they've been at the club for longer than 5 games.
marge simpson Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 I've taken a decision that I won't sing for any manager until they've been at the club for longer than 5 games. Ha Ha Ha looks like you wont be singing for a long time then with our record at the moment...
Fat Ron Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 From givemefootball.com By Ian Clarkson 25-10-07 All the talk at Coventry is concentrated on off-field matters and Iain Dowie wants to shift the balance. The Sky Blues' boss made an immediate impact when he arrived at the Ricoh Arena in February and his side started the campaign with a bang. However, Coventry have slipped to 14th place in the Championship amidst rumours of financial meltdown. A proposed takeover by American businessmen has collapsed and the Football League slapped a transfer embargo on the club after Wednesday's 3-0 home defeat against Watford. A debt in the region of £38m has led to new chairman Joe Elliott warning that the club could well go into administration unless new buyers are found by Christmas. Nevertheless, Coventry still have plenty of football to play and givemefootball discovered that Dowie is already concentrating on Saturday's clash with Colchester, which gives them the opportunity to move back into the pack of teams chasing the play-offs. QAS WELL AS ALL THE FINANCIAL PROBLEMS IT LOOKS AS THOUGH YOU MIGHT HAVE A COUPLE OF INJURIES FOR SATURDAY'S GAME DOESN'T IT? AGary Borrowdale looks like his got a fairly serious ankle injury and Stephen Hughes has fractured his cheekbone. Losing those two knocked us off our stride. If I felt we had lads that weren't committed that would get to me. But Stephen Hughes played on with a broken cheekbone (against Watford) and we had to force him to come off at half time. So when you have people doing that for you it is not for me to be beating my head against a brick wall. QYOU HAVE WON JUST ONE OF YOUR LAST EIGHT GAMES – ARE THE FINANCIAL PROBLEMS AFFECTNG THE PLAYERS? AThere is too much character and desire within the lads for me to be talking about an embargo. The embargo was a bit of a shock to everyone. But too much is being made of it and I am fed up talking about it. The lads are aware of it but we get on with it. When you have a bad result people start talking about the players and questioning them. I won't do that because they are an outstanding group. You have to stand up and be counted. People can start blaming this, that and the other but I am the manager and I've lost three in a row. That's my fault, nobody else's. QHOW IMPORTANT ARE THE SUPPORTERS AT A TIME LIKE THIS – DO YOU NEED FULL HOUSES AT THE RICOH ARENA AIt makes a huge difference. Look at the difference it made when we had 11,000 up at Old Trafford (Coventry won 2-0). Don't under-estimate the effect it can have. I went to Leeds and watched a 29,000 crowd draw one or two decent decisions from a referee. A passionate, vitriolic atmosphere has an effect - it's well known, it's human mindset. It makes players more pumped when you play in front of a full house. When I played in front of big crowds, in big arenas, there is no doubt that the level of intensity goes up. It's a big, big thing for us. QWHAT CAN THEY EXPECT TO SEE? AI think we have been terrific at home and have always tried to play attractive football. We've dominated games and created chances. They saw a scintillating second half display against Blackpool. They can see a group of very committed lads. They have given me everything in terms of effort and commitment. At no stage have they ever let me down in terms of their effort or desire and they should be applauded for that. QDOES THE CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION AT COVENTRY MEAN YOU WILL BE FORCED TO SELL PLAYERS IN THE TRANSFER WINDOW? AWe had a conversation a while ago about the fact that a reduction in my wage bill had to be achieved. I resisted that strongly and will continue to do so. I haven't had any more conversations about that. But if you start touting players around on the market it's a very different matter to a team coming in and looking to buy a player - if that happens in January we'll have to deal with it. Coventry has to be bigger than any one person or any one player, that's the way it is. They (supporters) want to see things going forward rather than regressing and you have to be very careful that when you are trying to build something that you don't lose your best assets. It is a concern but it is not something I am overly bothered about because I am an optimist and hope things will be sorted by then. Still want him in then? Relegated by Christmas, bring it on..
