Finnegan Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 COUGHCOUGHSPCOMELUTERACOUGHSPLUTTERONCOUGHSPLUTERENGLANDCOUGHAHACKCOUGH! That's quite a chest infection I've got.
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I'm predicting that we'll do what we usually do of late in really important games - go 1-0 up, sit back and lose 2-1. Come on England!!!!
Finnegan Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Why on earth do you want us to win I'm not 100% sure I do. I'm still a little undecided. If I was confident that 100% for sure we'd get the Home Nations cup as a one off if no British team qualified, I'd be screaming my gutts out for Croatia. But I'm not. And... to be really, REALLY honest... I'm a fan of football. And I want the UK to actually care that Euro 2008 is on, I want that summer, football-loving atmosphere. It's not like you'll win the thing, anyway. I guess that sounds strange, but. Well. I know what I mean.
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 It would be even funnier if England get their point but Russia put nine past Andorra. If England get a point it doesn't matter how many goals Russia score. If teams finish level on points the team with the better head-to-head record finishes higher. As England beat Russia 3-0 and they only beat us 2-1, England have the better head-to-head record.

Bert Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 He's actually right though, it would be funny, from our point of view.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Jesus ****' Christ, it was one silly mistake. Yes but you also claim that you will laugh at us if we go out. Which made me angry.
Bert Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Paul Robinson will play no part in England's vital Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia on Wednesday after being dropped by coach Steve McClaren. BBC Sport understands that Aston Villa's Scott Carson will play instead of the Spurs man, with David James as the goalkeeper on the Wembley bench. Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is expected to replace David Beckham. Gareth Barry, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard complete a five-man midfield, with Peter Crouch up front. McClaren has stuck by Spurs keeper Robinson throughout a rocky Euro 2008 campaign, but gave Carson his first start against Austria last Friday and keeps faith with the 22-year-old Aston Villa number one. BBC Radio 5 Live football correspondent Mike Ingham said: "Steve McClaren is still confident enough despite being without his first-choice back-four to finally drop the man who has been in goal for the last three years, Paul Robinson, preferring Scott Carson. "He is still confident enough to exclude Owen Hargreaves in favour of Gareth Barry and most unexpected of all perhaps he is backing Shaun Wright-Phillips ahead of David Beckham "So whatever the outcome this evening McClaren can hardly stand accused of shying away from bold and tough decisions." Former England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn feels McClaren is right to leave Robinson out completely. Martyn told 5 Live: "Paul is not going to be in right frame of mind to go on if Scott gets injured or sent in the first two minutes. "Imagine Paul's frame of mind if he's going out there. It would be incredibly difficult for him, after having the disappointment of not playing in this game, to then be suddenly thrust into it. "David James will be ready and able mentally, if needed, to come on and play." The back four is tipped to be Micah Richards, Sol Campbell Joleon Lescott and Wayne Bridge. England need a point to seal qualification for next summer's finals in Austria and Switzerland, and a big win could see them overhaul group leaders Croatia. And the spirit in the camp is determined. England captain Steve Gerrard said: "We can't afford to have any slip-ups. We've got to give everything we've got and die out there for the result." McClaren said he would tell the players his starting line-up on Tuesday at 1830 GMT. "I know my team and I have done since the weekend but I am not going to reveal it and I am not giving any clues," he said. McClaren did say he valued experience - but not necessarily in the starting line-up. "Experience is key in big games - not just playing but on the bench and around the team," he said. One player who will definitely not feature is John Terry, although the England captain did take part in training on Tuesday. "There has been a great uplift with the players coming in on Sunday and especially with John Terry coming in and training with the boys," said McClaren. "It's always important to have all the players together. We'll have John, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney with us on Wednesday. "We've started together and we'll finish together." No Beckham. When Crouchie starts up front. Good one McTwat.
Jordan Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I didn't say I'd laugh at you. You're not on the England squad, so why would I laugh at you? A game that was supposed to be a panic attack last week is now a spot in Euro 2008 on a platter served by a butler wearing white gloves. Say what you will about Croatia, but we all know how much they have to play for (hell, a one-goal loss for them even seals a group win and may make them feel all smug). McClaren will fiddle about with the lineup all he wants, but I still can't see anything else besides England getting what they need out of tonight's result. If they fail, well, the English national team deserves all the stick they will get, including a little bit of laughter from me--not at anybody in particular, but at such a ridiculous choke.

Well I don't find your laughter palatable. So therefore your failure to understand the basics of football league tables was frowned more than it would have been.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 How can Bilic complain about the pitch after the crap we had to play on in Zagreb.
Joe. Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Can't say I'm too annoyed with that formation. Should get us the point we need comfortably. Nice to see McLaren with some balls and dropping Beckham to be honest.
Webbo Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 No Beckham. When Crouchie starts up front. Good one McTwat. My understanding is is that we'll play 4-5-1 when defending and 4-3-3 in attack, meaning that SWP and Joe Cole will play beside Crouch up front going forward. The theory being that Beckham wouldn't have the stamina for the whole match in that formation, but he might be brought on as an impact player late in the match.
Joe. Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 You have to ask yourself Bert does Beckham really deserve a starting place? He's hardly been fantastic for England and even his set-pieces were very poor against Austria. I think Wright-Phillips is the best choice to be honest.
Jordan Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Well I don't find your laughter palatable. Then I shall take better care to understand the intricacies of tiebreaker formats for all various league formats in the future.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 How can Bilic complain about the pitch after the crap we had to play on in Zagreb. He's probabley just upset that the stadiums non smoking. So he has to go all evening without a fag.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 He's probabley just upset that the stadiums non smoking. So he has to go all evening without a fag. Right, that's it, I'm off to Ladbrokes to stick a tenner on him being the next Brighton manager.

Didn't really see the Austria game, but if anyone is going to play pin-pont balls to Crouch Beckham is the man. Who assited Crouch's goal on Friday?
Tevez Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 To be honest, i really can see England slipping up.
Simi Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Hmmm. Didn't really see the Austria game, but if anyone is going to play pin-pont balls to Crouch Beckham is the man.Who assited Crouch's goal on Friday? That would be a Mr Beckham.
Brainy Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I dont even see why we're all worried. We'll be there next summer.
