BigGibbo Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Hmmmm just the bit about why he left PAFC Mainly the bit where he slated Barwick
Ajax Treesdown Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Can't access the radio link "cannot render file" and missed it on SSN. Any other links? etc
Rich Fox Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Moaned about Crowds not coming in.Although we got over 21,000 every week, we should really do better ourselfs. Have you been watching us this season its more like a punishment than pleasure, and you think we deserve better crowds than 21000. To me we are a fairly big club with a lot of sml minded fans like yourself, also get real other teams have discounted tickets just the same as us.

We dont get any at argyle except the old kids for a quid once or twice a year
Mack Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Great choice in my opinion. The Plymouth fans are bitter but they only have themselves to blame. Argyle are 7th yet their year on year attendances are down 11% at around 11,500. Two years ago the avarage was closer to 15,000. A club like Plymouth Argyle needs it's fans through the turnstyles more than many and it must have been frustrating for Holloway to see all his hard work being ignored by many supporters and leaving him without the funds to even maintain his squad, let alone improve it. Mandaic likes a Manager with a bit of character and passion and Ian Holloway is never short of something to say for himself! Here's to a long and fruitful reign. Best of luck Ollie!
Rich Fox Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Discounted tickets? explain...We dont get any at argyle except the old kids for a quid once or twice a year Its just for this Cardiff game milan has given the season ticket holders 2 free tickets each for the game on monday night which is on sky. Most of our match tickets are well over £20 so i think weve done well to get average attendance 23000

I couldn't agree more, we (plymouth) have a major problem with attendaces however the club relises this and is trying to come up with new ways to bring the fans in. We have employed someone to try and solve this who has worked at preston and southampton. To be honest im sure you were just as bitter when megason left. Also lets be honest argyle are by no means a richest football club and we are doing well considering how much funds are available!! 5 years ago we were down in the breaks of division 3 fighting against religation and now look where we are! To be honest Argyle is proof you dont need money to become a succesfull championship side football club.

Change Megson to O'Neill and your talking, but Bitter? About Megson? Megson went with my blessing!
Kilworthfox Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 I felt from listening to the whole interview that IH gave a honest summary of why he left Plymouth and made a choice to come to another football club who do have the potential to be greater than the club that he was with. I believe that to be the case even though we are below PAFC in the leauge. The Leauge is not nearly over! I believe that IH will give his all as he did for PAFC and I also believe he has a month to assess the current squad, then at the end of the month he will have looked at our weaknesses and decide on new players to make us more competative in the Championship. I am wondering If Atos Busaky is available or has he signed in principle with QPR? LCFC is a club with much better oppertunity. Plymouth fans will feel put out as we can understand but behind all their talk they must understand why he has left, if not they should listen to IH. I remember when Little left us and how much we were cheated at the time, the only thing i would defende Little on was that he had genuine affection for Villa. We also must remember as LCFC fans that IH is a Bristol Rovers man (Now i'm not saying he will be off there!) and that he has no loyalty to us, same went for PAFC. He may do the same to us but that is life and I hope he does very well for us so one day he is in the situation to leave us in the shiite. The bloke seemed decent enough to me with out going overboard, we have a time to reflect and improve, now that is all we should ask. For now I will sing for him as unlike SMegson he IMHO is a good choice, and possibly will play some nice football which may win us a game! If not lets just win.

Matt Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 I went and waited outside for him, Fooking freezing, and I had to wait 1.5 hours! Shook his hand, Think i'm on east midlands news, Jobber was doing interviews everywhere, He also gave a football, a home and an away shirt with "Holloway - 1" on the back (The ones in the pictures on the OS) I wanted one but was too slow...Mind you a fight nearly broke out, People just snatched the bag of him, A little girl wanted the Away shirt but some lad just snatched it out her hands, but Holloway got a piece of paper told her to write her address down and he'd sort her something out! Nice bloke, seems to do a good job, says what he thinks, I have a good feeling about this one...Although apart from Megson (Who I never wanted from day 1, but decided to give him a chance), I normally have a good feeling about a new manager coming in.
Greenwalker Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Have they got 1st option on him then at that price? Yes im afraid so, IMO hes worth more then 500k
Bellend Sebastian Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 I listened to the press conference and I thought Ollie seemed like a lovely man. In all seriousness, I liked what he had to say. He seems quite a character and didn't overdo the eccentric soundbites, and I thought there was a lot more substance to his vision than there was with Martin Allen, who talked a good game but was more interested in flowerbeds
Rich Fox Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Thats a really good idea, you are very lucky to have milan. Holloway seemed to speak highly of your chairman in the press conference but i cant comment on him. I would have thought Plymouth have the potencial to get a lot better crowd having a massive distance betwen yourself and another big club. Have they tried free transport i know Charlton do this to some sucess bussing people in from around Kent, maybe you could round up all the carrot crunchers fro cornwall and bus them in. We know what its like to have managers walk out on us and your right we are lucky to have milan, good luck for the rest of the season
Kilworthfox Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Yes im afraid so, IMO hes worth more then 500k Correct that's why i'm not asking about Nalis
Greenwalker Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Correct that's why i'm not asking about Nalis why the hell did you let Nalis go? Hes been an awesome player for us!
Kilworthfox Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 why the hell did you let Nalis go? Hes been an awesome player for us! Just IMO did not cut it at prem level, which may be unfair on him thinking about it now as we are where we are. He was much of a muchness at the time with the players we had, also if i remember right he had a few injuries. Good guy tho always tried for us. Scored a cracker vs Leedsscum
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Very glad to have holloway i just hope he is here for a while to see what he can create

Scored a cracker vs Leedsscum Yeah i remember seeing that goal on youtube, hell of a goal on the volley if i remember rightly. Yeah he will probebly retire or be released next year though as we have already brought in a similar player to replace him.
