Then all of a sudden we come out with a suprising good performance and then are let down the following match day. I have a good feeling about things at the minute, this Holloway chap might be "the one" *Girly scream*

The way he hugged King before he came on seemed to give the lad some confidence. The crowd seemed to warm to him. Yes it was only 0-0 last night but for once we played well at home. Although we didn't score, we came very close. The signs are very encouraging. Ollie's Army.

Definitely, I was watching him most of the game, and its the first time in a long time I've seen a manager stood on the edge of his technical area for the full 90 minutes. Also the way he was getting the crowd going in the last 10 minutes was very commendable. I'm really impressed with him from what I have seen, he seems to be giving the club, the fans, and the players much more confidence. Lets just hope it lasts.

Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 After going to Bristol on Saturday and watching the game last night on TV I've noticed a couple of what appear to be immediate impacts from Holloway's arrival/Burrows' departure. 1. We look like we have some pride restored to wearing the shirt. There's more energy to the players, they look like they want to perform for the club, the fans and, most pointedly, Holloway himself. He's a major presence on the touchline and his natural passion looks like it's already rubbing off on the players. 2. Our chasing, harrying and closing down has been excellent. One example was when (I think) Fryatt chased down Schmeichel. Little things like this get the crowd going and more importantly can force mistakes or at least retain possession. This was something we were always very good at with players like Savage, Dickov, etc playing. It's every encouraging to see evidence of it again. These two factors set a great foundation for improving the weaker areas of the game. For example we need more creativity in midfield and we need to improve our final ball. Too may passes were given away last night. Overall though my initial thoughts are very positive.

I liked his comment pre-kick-off when he waved to the crowd and immediately turned attention to the players by letting everyone know how much he thought of them. I like that in a manager. Make the players feel 10 feet tall and with any luck they'll play that way.

Hopefully the honeymoon period will alst right up until the january tranfer window by which time he will of sized up some good transfers!

Hopefully yeah. If he brings in some decent players but doesn't change the nucleus of the team then we should be fine. We don't need wholesale changes. What we shouldn't do is bring in 16 odd players who are crap again. We need to bring in 3/4 quality players in certain positions, sign Collins John and Fulop permanantly and get rid of the awful players who we don't need.

I couldn't comment on Saturday as I'd had a few too many to take it in, but last night was the first game for ages where if a player lost the ball their was another player there to pick it up or at least to try to. More of this and it may yet be a half decent season.

Totally different approach from Martin Allen as well. it was a 0-0 draw but the most important thing is that we played well at home and the players seem to be growing in confidence. If that keeps happening it will not be long before we are turning the draws into wins.
