Walkers Atmosphere!

In principle it would be something they would like to do.

BUT our good old Health and Safety regime would not let it happen.

Also, there are people on the Fans Forum Committee who object to being moved from the Kop so can you imagine getting EVERYONE in the Kop to agree to move??

There are people who even refuse to move from the Kop to the Family Stand 'cos they dont want the Sun getting in their eyes!!!

Can you believe that one!!!!???

It would undoubtedly help the atmosphere having the bulk of the crowd near the away fans.

Another alternative was to move the away fans in the corner of The Kop and the A and L stand but logistically that wont happen as you would lose alot of our home fans from the A and L Stand.

Also we'd need more Policing to accomodate the away fans having to waving to walk past the bulk of the home fans in a safe manner...

The Club should have had the Kop Near the away fans from Day one.

agreed

don't want the sun in there eyes

get rid of the crappy music including the chelsea dagger shite when we score, kills of the natural fan based atmosphere a goal creates. the gulf between the fans and players is wider than ever and needs to become closer to get that 'family' atmosphere the club talks about. filbert street had that atmosphere, the walkers stadium don't. get rid of all that shite music during a match bring back a small controlled standing area, and bring back whole hearted chanting! :scarf:

agreed we should get rid of all the music before a match or at least turn it down a lot it's to loud so you can't hear the fans sing.

It's not a case of moving the Kop to the North Stand, the Kop is made up of a disparate bunch of people if they were the right people to have next to the away fans there wouldn't be a problem because they'd be making a lot of noise anyway. It's a subtle difference but all you need to do is move the Families out of the North Stand to one of the corners either side of the South Stand and leave the North Stand empty. Hopefully it would then fill up with people that actually want to be next to the away fans including some from L1 and some from the South Stand, it actually means next to FA what you call these stands.

So Raj forget moving the Kop it's the wrong approach just campaign to me the Families to either the SW or SE corners- job done.

Good points.

BUT the problem we now have is that everyone is settled and comfy in there areas and getting them to move is the problem.

When the N Blockers had the singing section,i know there were alot of complaints from the families who didnt want to move AND didnt want the singers in that section.

Im sure the same problem would exist.

Im sure you are right in saying the Kop isnt like the Kop of Filbo and just to move The Kop with The family Stand perhaps wouldnt make much difference to the atmosphere.

Next time we have a FCC remind me and i'll take your approach and see what they say.

The corner of the Kop was akin to being the away crowd of today. It was a group of vocal people crammed into a small space under a low roof that reverberated the sound, the rest of the Kop, the East, North and West Stands were no different then than the Walkers Stadium is today in that they only sing when we're winning or have someone to hate, the Referee, Speedie et al.

The proportion of people singing then is probably equivalent to what it is today, except today they are spread around a much bigger more open ground.

To have the same affect as Filbert St you need twice as many people singing unfortunately for nigh on 4 years they've had more to cry about than sing - 3 home wins in 11 months (my son's only missed 3 games, you can guess which 3) says it all, people talk about the players lacking confidence well so do the fans and who can blame them. Apart from the first season when we had Administration and annihilation staring us in the face coupled with promotion with a virtual Premiership standard team we've had nothing to be cheerful or optimistic about.

We need a sustained period of relative success, a few home wins wouldn't go amiss before anyone's going to see anything resembling positive support.

No one individual is to blame, it's football as it is today teams go up and teams go down, teams have good support today and crap support yesterday.

Roll on next Saturday at the Walkers Stadium, I really can't bear to repeat last years trip to Burnley hope and despair go hand in hand of every football fan!

Any chance he may have a cold saturday?

The atmosphere at the walkers is like a library compared to other grounds. People can try to organise to try and get everyone to sit together but that wont happen until next season at least because of season ticket purchases.

People seem to also forget that everyone who goes to matches is on FoxesTalk? there must be a hundred people on here max that want to move, probably 50% of those people will actually do so. 50 people sitting nxt to each other singing away will make fu ck all difference to the atmosphere!

It occurs to me to wonder why, instead of piping music to the fans, we don't use this awesome sound system to recreate the sound relfection of the old low roof Kop. Can't be that difficult to suspend a few microphones over the the singers and amp it up so they can hear themselves better. :scarf::scarf:

Of course you're right everyone is settled so it really comes down to how determined the club are to make this happen, you imply that they are for it and it's the H&S stopping them.

Moving the Families to the SE Corner should not be a problem because it's generally the last spot to be filled also the families need to be reminded that they are getting in cheap with under 8's free.

The H&S can surely raise no objection to that move. If you then made the North Stand Adults only with no concessions you would at least be targeting the 18's +, probably the most vocal of supporters, it would also exclude some of the mindless 14 year old Chavs (sorry for the stereotyping and oldies like me  unless they were prepared to pay the full wack.

Ultimately any changes will piss some one off but this seems to me to be the least disruptive approach as from what I can see the North Stand is invariable less than half full.

It's never going to happen but they should also makes it unreserved so that fans can meet up and sit together without all having to buy tickets at the same time. Their excuses for not allowing unreserved seating is just that an excuse because many, many away trips end up as unreserved.

Having said all that I don't for one minute believe they want to change anything!!!

Right atmosphere.

I think we all know its quite bad. I think there is a big difference in why people go to football games nowadays, and some of them really have not got a clue.

Im in F1 and there is absoulute bufoon in front of me that slags of carl cort, de vries, newton, maybury, kenton whenever they do something wrong. So i anticipate this and point out everything they do right just to wind him up. He always leaves early and says im going this is shit, and then says to his mate 'see you next week'. What the fook mate if its that bad dont come back!

Ive sort of gone of the idea of saying the atmosphere is bad because there is nothing i can possibly do that will have a majour affect. So why should i get worked up about it, because i go to watch leicester for enjoyment. I sing and start songs at evry opputinity and want something to change soon. But without others doing the same it will always be poor and we will have something to moan about. We had a big chance with the N block, if you thought the atmosphere was bad you would of joined us there. Unfotunately a lot of people like to sit back and moan and not help when it is needed.

Fooking Bang on.

I can't enjoymyself at the walkers anymore, so I stay away. I feel disjointed from the club I love some much. Home games have become a 'chore' for many

I was at Burton v Barnet on Saturday for the FaCup 2nd Round game, and it was excellent, what football is all about.

Real Football. Real Fans.

The Goal celebration with the Barnet fans was the most mental i've ever seen! This is scoring against a lower league team, and I've seen us Score against Forest, Chelski and the famous palace celebration.

I tried my best to do something about the atmosphere at the walkers, and I'm still trying, but as you said Dan, people would rather go t'pub & moan about it than actually be pro-active.

I think moving the families over to the south east corner or north west corner. would be a good idea as there isnt that many in the north stand already. It dosent look half full to be honest. The problem is, would the folk from L1 move over or would it just turn out like the n block? I think the best choice would be moving the away fans close to the south stand. Due to the fact a lot of people dont want to move, and the L block would then have to move.

But this will never happen due to the fact how the police would not allow it even though a new road could be set up, or a wall seperating the south stand and east stand would make the main singers have to walk past the west stand.

Waiting to hear back from Peter Jones RE: meeting.

I still think that a full switch of The 'kop' would be the best idea, take Villa, Birmingham games when the 'kop' was in full voice, we know there is passion there, its just hiding away.

Remember the threads on here with everyone saying how much they enjoyed the passion & noise, and standing in the 'kop' after those games? :scarf:

I still don't know understand why people object to this.

Whilst I agree with what Davie is saying, people power in this country is long gone, the people wouldn't just 'move', look at NBlock, we gave people an opportunity, but most were too lazy to email the ticket office asking for a change and the rest would rather moan about it.

Just look at the fcking Gypo's on the carpark, if that was football fans on someone else's property the police would have gone in, Horses Battons the lot, but no they can't do that to Pikey wankers can they?

The fans should have caused a stir on saturday with them, fcking disgrace to the country those moronic twats are, and they way we deal with them. :@

30 Years ago, they wouldn't have the nerve to put up camp next to a stadium, the fans would have moved them. Now they can get away with attacking people. Excellent country.

If moving the Away fans is not going to happen there's not lot of point considering it an option.

As for the L1ers, I don't know plus it doesn't really matter if they don't move what's more important is that those that are moaning about the atmosphere, the kids in the Kop, the oldies in the Kop, the fair weather attendees etc are attracted to the the 'new' North Stand.
