Finnegan Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Calzaghe won't win it, it's a popularity contest so Hamilton has it in the bag.
The Reverend Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Go on Ricky! If not Hatton, then Calzaghe. If not Calzaghe, then Justin Rose. If not Rose, then James Toseland. If not Toseland, then Christine Ohurogu. If its none of those, dont give it to anybody- the only REAL winners of anything (hopefully in Hattons case anyway).
Dames Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Hamilton will win. Everyones been licking his arse.
purpleronnie Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 It should go to someone who has actually won something.
Jack Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 It should go to someone who has actually won something. But no one has actually won anything
dandannieldanok Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 If Hatton beats Mayweather then Hatton. If he loses I'd like to see Jason Robinson. Also, although unlikely anyway, I think it would be a travesty if Christine Ohorugo wins after her drug scandal.
Finnegan Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 But no one has actually won anything Erm. Joe Calzaghe united the two active belts in super middleweight boxing to become the UNDISPUTED champion of the world?
Jack Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Erm. Joe Calzaghe united the two active belts in super middleweight boxing to become the UNDISPUTED champion of the world? Forgot about him I can't see him winning it tbh though.
Staf Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Forgot about him I can't see him winning it tbh though. Why not? Calzaghe is a class boxer i would like to see him win it
Jack Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Why not? Calzaghe is a class boxer i would like to see him win it Im not saying that he isn't a class boxer because I think he is, I just think he will be over looked by the likes of Wilkinson, Hamilton and Hatton.
Dames Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Erm. Joe Calzaghe united the two active belts in super middleweight boxing to become the UNDISPUTED champion of the world? He's the only person worthy of winning it, he rules his sport and his division. It will go to a nearly guy though most probably Hamilton.
Finnegan Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Told you. Popularity contest. Wont win. Hamilton. Yawn. Next thread.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 Not too much quality to chose from But i think Hamilton is a no-brainer and runner up Justin Rose as has had a good year

purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 Looking at the contenders (unless Hatton pulls off a miracle tonight) surely Joe Calzaghe has to win. I saw the odds and Hamilton was 4/9 to win with Joe Calzaghe 29-1. How can a loser be odds on favourite and a true winner be long odds. Only in england. Must be too many petrolhead anoraks voting. Although last year had to be the funniest with that royal wnning it, its quickly becoming the funniest show on tv.
FilboFox Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 Hamilton... captured the imagination of Britain for the whole season... got me interested in racing if nothing else.

Although last year had to be the funniest with that royal wnning it, its quickly becoming the funniest show on tv. Thats a stupid thing to say... winning doesn't count for everything, and certainly not in the sports PERSONALITY of the year. Did Calzaghe capture the imagination of the whole of Britain this year? No. Do many people know what he has done in the past year? No. Do most people know what Hamilton achieved this year? YES. Were most of the British people fascinated by his year? YES. Were people watching his races week after week hoping that he won? YES. Personally, I haven't a clue what Calzaghe did this year... not at all significant. Whilst Hamilton, certainly has had a GREAT year and has shot up to stardom... surely there can only be one winner.
purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 Eddie the eagle edwards captured the imagination of the country, should he have won? Only in england could we hand out prizes for losing.
Sparky Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 hoping they give it to Calzaghe who is a true "winner" dont get me wrong Hamilton had a great season but when it mattered he crumbled , im sure he will go on to win the award in the future but he wont get my vote tonight , another glorious failure
