If anything we'd probably have done better to spend less and be a bit more choosy on who it was spent on.

I mentioned at the start of MM's "reign" how much better people can sometimes buy with a little money rather than a lot.

I buy and sell every day and have noticed it dramatically.

When flushed with money I take unnecessary risks and become a bit casual in checking things over. How that could apply to City!

When I'm skint I become very selective, check everything methodically and invariably surprise myself with the quality of items I can get my hands on.

Managers are dealers - they buy and sell footballers. They'd be careful too if they were spending their own money on fees and wages.

But when it's someone else's money, and there's a lot of it, then they can become like pools winners, totally reckless.

Would anyone seriously say we couldn't have bought better and probably considerably chaper than City over the summer?

I am getting pig sick of you saying that then getting on Mandarics back for involving himself in the clubs recruitment of players.

Why the fu ck would they spend their own money on a professional footballer?

What would they do with him?

Get him to perform keepy-uppies in the lounge?

Ask him to mow the lawn?

Fu ck sake Thracian.

As I see it, the sensible way of buying players is to give the manager a budget and let him decide the players he wants based on that budget.

The chairman would, if he's sensible, join the manager in properly assessing the current form/fitness/attitude of those players before a final decision is made on signing them or otherwise.

I would then expect the chairman handle negotiations.

I don't believe Leicester City have done that. If they have then someone's shown bloody awful judgement on far more than one occasion.

Well, when you buy the club, you can run it the way you like.

Until then, I suggest you either shut up or start saving.

I wasn't talking to you.

It would be like fishing for carp in a desert.

Exactly the way it should be done.

It's just that your rants about managers spending their own money are hypocritcal and totally, totally besides the point.

I don't think the money wasted at Leicester this season has been beside the point at all. In fact it's been embarrassing all round.

Seriously, bypassing all the maturity of the thread...do you honestly believe we have lacked ambition in the money side of things?

Ambition of quality premiership players? yes

Ambition of inspiring players? maybe

Has the transfer window only just opened? yes

One look at the table is surely enough to tell you that there is a cap on who we can and cannot sign. Savage would probably laugh in our faces if we asked him to come back, unless maybe we offered him 100k a week.

You may not agree with the quality of who we have signed, but please tell me how many of the other clubs in the Championship, including those destined for and expecting to be promoted, would spend:

£1.5mill on Howard

£1.5mill on DJ with the possibility of it rising to £2.1mill

Fee that could rise to £1mill for clemence

Offer of at least £1mill for Fulop maybe a bit more we do not know

Reports of a £1.2mill offer for Norris

And not forgetting, the wages of the many players we ship in and out every season as we have a new bloody manager all of the time.

Maybe had you said ambition regarding who we signed i'd have agreed, but then again remember we are a SH1T, out of the cup, season over bar relegation, championship side. Do you think Robert, Savage, Guily etc would love to come here? no

Either way I can't see how you can say Milan hasn't been quick to open his wallet, at least we now have a wallet with substance!

Correct, but whos bought what and why etc is all up in the air as none of us have a clue who to point the finger at, I would point at all involved but I don't think I have enough fingers.

And you point about managers spending their own money is stupid, they want to do well and want to get results if they manage this this means they get a better job and more money, so in a way, they are spending their own money. In this case, for whatever reason, theres been massive cock ups.

I didn't say or imply that it could NEVER be done.

Beneath all the bluster, all the cheap shots, all the misused literary devices, all the filler, bumph and circumlocution, you actually say very, very little.

In fact, I can summarise it.

There is nothing to suggest Clemence is any good at all regardless of what he might have done in the past at this level, whilst Andy King - an inferior player who's done roughly the same at a lower level, is veritable wa nk material. Gradel, Dodds, O'Grady, Hammond and a team full of Levi Porters is the answer. Mandaric is evil. Youth Youth Youth Youth. Chuck the foreigners and gays out of the country. Apart from Hammond. Barbars. Squash. My son is amazing at everything. Listen to Ultra - he knows what he's talking about! Yeah well you'd know all about that. . When I've caught you in the idiot stakes, I'll truly be an athlete.

That's about 140 more words than I would waste in summarising you.

Don't bother wasting time summarising me.

Just keep counting my words. That's not a waste of time is it? :crylaugh:

I can get you more concise anyway.

Jumped-up, bigoted, racist, homophobic bitter old man.

How true that is and was Martin Allen's disease over the summer. Maybe he was pushed into it because MM wanted promotion double quick - who knows.

One thing for sure, a manager that knew nothing about the squad should have waited and assessed. Then spot the weak areas and one by one plug them. Ollie is behaving a little the same (although at least he is targetting areas we need players in) it can be an expensive mess (which the Summer has turned out to be).

You wouldn't turn up to a new job monday and sack everyone because performance hasn't been so great. It could simply be one person was just causing trouble and making everyone else uncomfortable. You don't know until you turn up.
