MOTM - Oakley (worked v.hard throughout).

What a difference some wingers make! For some spells in the game Laczko was immense (defenders running scared at one point!) and Bori did well as well (that shot from outside the area was swish!), midfield worked very well, up front we looked alright, defence was shaky at times but for the most part a very positive game. :)

Alnwick 6 - poor communication and a couple of moments where he started to come for balls that were out of his reach.

Stearman 6 - Suited to the centre-half's task of marking a big centre forward. Jury out still as to whether he can cut it as our first-choice right-back. Distribution was as shocking as ever!

McAuley 7 - After a couple of dodgy games was back to his steady best

Kisnorbo 8 - Outstanding game

Mattock 8 - Best game in a city shirt

Bori 6.5 - Steady debut. Gave us balance

Clemence 8 - Captain's performance

Oakley 8 - Just what Ollie ordered.

Laczko 8.5 - Always in the game. Good on the wing and took up great positions in-field.

Hume 8

Howard 8

Very very promising.

very ry very well done they didnt do anything we did everything! we placed some really nice football! well done city!

alnwick - 7 didnt have to do much looks confident

stearman - 7 made some dodgy passes and few mistakes but was ok

mattock - 8.5 delt with mifsud easily, was suprisingly aggressive he was fantastic

mcauley - 7 solid didnt look threatened at any point did well to recover at his bugger up early on sometimes shows way lack of pace.

kisnrobo - 8 same as usual took many a knock but got up and did the job well.

bori - 8.5 showed lot of pace and more aggresive than i thought he would be, shouldve scored. bit shaky at startbut got well into it and fitted right in.

laczko - 9 very well done looked like a headless chicken first 10 but with the guidance from clem and oakley was creative and just pissed on their right back.

oakley - 8.5 500k bargain already, solid great tackler fantastic vision, fitted in nicely, teamed up with clemence well.

clemence - 8 hit some nice shots very determined and soooooooooooo coooool on the ball.

howard - 8.5 was frustrated at times and lack of pace does show sometimes but he didnt stop running and trying fair play to him

hume - 10 didnt stop running as usual made his class known made things look so easy and he impressed EVERYBODY!!!!!! well done humey

fantastic i thought clem and oakley complemented eachother v well when one wnt forward the other supported and made space for a pass which i thought was great. the movement of the team and work ethic was great. well done to eevrybody. we did some v nice passing movements but were jus unlucky.

thats more like it!!!!!!1

Alnwick 6 (One nearly costly cock-up which should have gifted Coventry a goal but otherwise fine)

Stearman 7.25 (Sound game, neutered a dangerous opponent. Benefitted greatly from playing in a better team. Pity about the mix-up with Alnwick but he soon put it behind him, as did the team)

McAuley 5.75 (Just a stopper really. One day we'll pay for the times he gives the ball away cheaply. Aerially great)

Kisnorbo 6.5 (Solid and dependable from what I saw although I couldn't see which defenders contributed to the near calamity which should have gifted Coventry a goal)

Mattock 7 (Important game for him and he coped admirably in neutralising a threat having played extra-time in midweek. He's definitely inhibited in the first team and poses mimimal attacking threat but his part in a welcome clean sheet was considerable)

Bori 6.5 (Encouraging debut. Maintained width, delivered early passes and crosses. One or two shots and looked at ease in the team. Promising).

Clemence 7.75 (Best game yet for City. Benefitted from Oakley's presence and had a stack of worthwhile shots. Looked rejuvenated)

Oakley 9.5 (No he didn't so much have a perfect game as the perfect influence. And considering the crisis at the club he was the best thing that could happen to us. His composure and ability to retain possession and offer options was exactly what we needed. Made the whole game easier for everyone. Exactly the sort of senior player we've cried out for)

Laczko 8 (Again gets a high mark for the impact he had on everyone. A real threat to the full-back, varied his manner of attack, retained possession comfortably when necessary, looked as if he knew his job and had been playing in the team for years. His movement kept defenders on their toes and he added the bionus of geting a few shots in and winning a few headers.

Hume 8.25 (Good assist for the opening goal and another to look rejuvenated by having a proper team around him so he could concentrate on what he does best. Had more shots than he's had in the last month combined).

Howard 7.5 (Not in any way brilliant but delivered the goal and forged a few chances which is really what I want from a striker. Nothing else really matters but goals and potential assists).

Sub: Hayles 7 (High mark for a short contribution but I remember Fryatt getting a chance from that sort of position a few weeks back and missing. Hayles never looked like missing. One chance, one goal. Yes please. That will do. Job done).

Weso: Not on long enough.

Holloway 10 (Good signings. A big improvement all round. New and realistic hiope for the future. No pissing about with the formation and no running down the clock. Suddenly we looked like a team that wanted to play some football and had enough ability to do so.)

Alnwick 7 - NOt enough to assess him on, had one eccentric punch.

Stearman 6 - Can't see past his hoofing, not one of the better players

McAuley 7 - Won everything in the air, good on the ball.

Kisnorbo 7.5 - Marshalled the defence excellently

Mattock 7.5 - Some genuine skill emerging here, never gave up

Bori 7 - Had some great shots on goal, although didn't benefit from stearman behind him

Clemence 8.5 - My man of the match, great play throughout.

Oakley 8.5 - Looked like he had played with clem for years, dominant.

Lackzo 8 - Tended to drift in too much in the early stages, but was a constant threat on the wing.

Howard 7 - Good taken goal.

Hume 8 - classic never say die attitude, linked with howard well.

Subs:

Hayles 7

Weso 6

Ollie 10 - signings were spot on

Dele Adebola - 0.1

Worst player i've seen all season. Ha!

I'm going to co-sign this statement.

Alnwick -6- didnt have any saves to make.

Stearman -7- Started poorly but I thought he got better when the game went on, was up against a difficult opponent.

McAuley -7- Won everything in the air.

Kisnorbo -7- Ditto

Mattock -8- Best i've seen him play at left back, especially first half. Misfud hardly had a kick.

Bori -7- Not as flashy as Laczko, but has good ball control, can pick a pass and keeps his width. I think the balance with him on one side and Laczko on the other works fantastically. I can see them swapping over quite a bit.

Oakley -9- Class. Absolute bargain. We look some much more composed on the ball in midfield, was always telling people what to do.

Clemence -7- Good game.

Laczko -8- Brilliant, was always a threat and played some lovely chipped balls over the top but Hume was offside.

Howard -7- Held it up brilliantly at times, good goal but loses mark for complete air shot when he should have made it 2-0.

Hume -7- Brilliant control at times, was offside too much though.

Posted

Alnwick - 7 - What he had to do, he did with minimal fuss.

Stearman - 7 - Did well, easily dealt with Adebola but did scare me a bit in the first half. But passing was shocking.

Kisnorbo - 7 - Solid

Mcauley - 7 - Above

Mattock - 7 - Two above.

Bori - 7.5 - Looked very lively and fast, good crosses.

Oakley - 8 - Really good performance. Broke up play well and got forward well.

Clemence - 7.5 - Good performance by the skipper, cool in possession. It just shows what he can do and what he can do when he has decent players around him. Him and Oakley are brilliant CM's for the Championship.

Laczko - 9 - Brilliant debut. Good in the air, fast, good work rate. Also some very fancy footwork.

Hume - 8 - Fancy footwork and worked very hard. Did really well with Howard and used the wingers well. Almost scored.

Howard - 7.5 - Good home debut. Won most things in the air, controlled the ball well and took his goal well.

Subs:

Hayles - 7 - Roughed their defence up and took his goal very well.

Weso - Didn't have enough time to do much.

All in all a very good display and the new boys looked good as well.

Zsolt Laczko was outstanding! his skill was quality, his pace and strength were good, his aerial ability was good, his desire to run at defenders and cross the ball into the box was my favourite attribute of his, his runs were aslo fantastic in the first ten minutes he could have had two, although he should have done better. However, i would rather he were in the position and miss than not in the position at all. Did anyone notice how powerful he can shoot with both feet in the warm up? I also, enjoyed his dummy to drop henderson to the ground so he could roll the ball into the net! Aslso, promising performance from Bori.
