ibbosuk Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Would you sell Joe Mattock to West Ham for 1.5 Million, If that enabled us buy David Norris from Plymouth for 2 Million ???
Messi Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Would you sell Joe Mattock to West Ham for 1.5 Million,If that enabled us buy David Norris from Plymouth for 2 Million ??? YES
WetFlannel Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Why would we sell a homegrown talent who will only get better, to fund for a right winger who we could find plenty more of?
Head Honcho Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 We definitely need another top midfielder even two or three but I don't think we have to sell our best assets to do so....... .......do we?
Maybes Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 No. As soon as mattock is playing regurlarly for the under 21's his value will shoot up. Keep him.
Koke Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Norris isn't worth £2m in my eyes. If Plymouth don't sell him in this window, he'll walk for less in the summer. I don't think he's worth 2 million either.
Ashley Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 No. Like I have said before if we want to get out of this division we need to hold on to our best players, Mattock will only get better.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 My wifes cousins hubby is a traffic copper in torquay and seen norris quite a few times but he thinks he would be worth £1mil if it was not for the bolton clause.
Thracian Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Even making allowances for Mattock not having cover and support yesterday I fail to see why he gets the nod over Sheehan never mind why he's become the subject of a bid worth £1.5 million, except purely on potential. To me Mattock is a developing left back who will eventually be quite formidable in the position - strong, mobile and efficient. He will have the drive and energy to support play into midfield. But, I don't think he will ever have the attacking attributes of Sheehan, who really can score and make goals with extraordinary regularity for a defender. Despite the vote on here which overwhelmingly supported Sheehan as first choice there are some who persist in saying that Sheehan's is not a good enough defender and that Mattock is the safer choice. The stats don't bear that out at all and just looking at the two of them I've not thought Mattock any less vulnerable than Sheehan. They are different typres of defender but I've not noticed that the one is particularly better than the other defensively. However when it comes to creativity - something we were lacking once again yesterday - Sheehan is totally different league to Mattock from the evidence so far and anyone properly considering all the chances we've created this season couldn't fail to notice and accept that. Mattock has still not scored or made any goals for Leicester this season - and that's official. He's not even had secondary involvement that I can recall. Yet Sheehan remains second in the official assists chart, he's scored two goals, and if every close thing he'd been involved with had counted then the numbers would have been more dramatic. At the beginning of this season I said Mattock wasn't ready to be first choice for Championship football. I've seen nothing yet to change that view. Sheehan's important attacking contributions - a consistent three or four a game - are badly missed and ridiculously so considering we now seem to have a target man. Whether I'd sell Mattock or keep him would depend how much I needed the money, what I might get instead or how good he'll become in the end. In three years I think he'll be a very good attacking full-back so I'd not be in any rush to sell. But creative as Sheehan? I'd be amazed.
Thracian Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 No. As soon as mattock is playing regurlarly for the under 21's his value will shoot up. Keep him. Doesn't Stearman play for the Under 21's? I've not noticed his value soaring especially although being arguably MoM yesterday won't have done it any harm.
Head Honcho Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 I think we should count ourselves lucky to have two young and improving left sided players. There's nothing wrong with a bit of competition. For me it should be Chambers on the right and Sheehan on the left with Mattock on the bench. Unfortunately Sheehan seems to be taking the blame for the Soton defeat............. ......................unless he's injured

Koke Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 At the moment I do believe we'd better off having Sheehan at left back rather than Mattock. Ollie just doesn't fancy him I suppose.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 No Norris isn't worth that anyway, although I can understand Plymouth quoting a high price for 2 reasons: 1) They want to keep him 2) Bolton will get 50% of the fee
Simi Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 no keep...lets keep joe ! I'm talking about Sheehan
filbertboy Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 I'm talking about Sheehan sorry ched ... it would appear Im going slightly mad !

Fatbloke Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 We`re not a selling club anymore, which is a comforting thought, with regards Joe he`s a cracking player already and is improving, he was better than Stears yesterday and is better than Sheehan full stop !
Wezleylowski Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Dont DissJoe Is My Cousin Why Does Everyone Slam him Tell Joe to bump Sheehan off to shut Thracian up.
Head Honcho Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Dont DissJoe Is My Cousin Why Does Everyone Slam him ...........not sure I've seen anyone slam him The only criticism he's had is down to his age/experience but most on here considers him a good prospect.
