fannysyouraunt Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Stoke City will ask to take Theo Walcott on loan, but do not expect to sign the Arsenal teenager. Reports have claimed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may allow Walcott to spend the second half of the season out on loan. The teenager has yet to score in the Premier League for Arsenal since joining the club from Southampton two years ago. He has netted in the UEFA Champions League and Carling Cup this term, although Wenger insists he is happy with the 18-year-old's progress. A loan move could enable the England cap to gain valuable experience, with Stoke ready to make an approach. "We will enquire, but I guess he'll want to stay in the Premier League," Potters chairman Peter Coates told BBC Radio Stoke.
Thracian Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I was wondering last night if we should try and get him. Not that our experience with Ryan Smith will necessarily help because if we were supposed to give him games, he didn't get many, for whatever reason. But whether Bori and Laczko are potential maestros or not we need a third winger as back up and MM always gives me the impression he's on the look-out for a name or a crowd pleaser. Just a thought.
MikeyT Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I would have thought he would be loaned out to another Premier League Club? Obviously a lower team, in the lower half of the table. Couldnt see him coming to the Championship...but who knows!

I'd have thought Walcott will be staying in the Premiership or a club close by perhaps QPR or Charlton.
Fox You Forest Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 It's saying Liverpool on SSN this morning.

Manwell Pablo Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Me too but if you don't ask.... You don't get the disgusting ouder of Garlic mixed with cheap Merlot in your face when Arsen Wenger laughs in it.
fannysyouraunt Posted 25 January 2008 Author Posted 25 January 2008 Arsenal have moved to clarify Theo Walcott's situation at Emirates Stadium, amid talk he could be allowed to leave the club on loan. The England international has struggled to find anything like top form since moving to the capital from Southampton and despite a bright start to the season, he has faded badly ever since. An anonymous display in Arsenal's 5-1 thumping at the hands of North London rivals Tottenham on Tuesday fuelled talk that he could be heading for the exit door; a notion that was given credence when in his post-match appraisal Arsene Wenger stated that he now knew who was ready for first team football - and who was not. Championship promotion hopefuls Stoke confirmed they would make an approach for Walcott on Thursday, while The Times reported on Friday that Liverpool had had an offer of their own spurned. However, with Arsenal still gunning for silverware on three fronts, they have now rejected the idea of Walcott leaving the club on a temporary basis

Unabomber Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I can't imagine Walcott playing fro Stoke, they tend to play a hard physical game, and the have Lawrence on the right and they tend to lump balls forward so I can't imagine him playing up top for them. I can see him going to a lower Premier League side instead.

(The Times) I feel sorry for the ald really, his talent is being wasted.

How many of these talents are english? and if they are where are they, and why are they not breaking into premiership/championship teams? Brain engaged and spoken.

Brain engaged and spoken. They are you grade A spanner please don't make me go through every single player in the Premier League and Championship that served his teens at Arsenal. And whats is matter if they are English anyway. Its about talent and developing it, nationality matters makes not one bit of difference.

Big clubs like Arsenal buying players such as Walcott then playing them on rare occasions and refusing to let them out on loan, are what is corsing this lack of young talent entering the national side. A rule should be enforced where teams have to play an certain amount of english players in the prem and championship, otherwise the English national team is going to drop in qaulity incredibly quickly. Thats why nationality matters. i wish for you to refrain from calling me a grade A spanner, when my point is valid.

Your point isn't valid though, your point is stupid, Walcott plays regularly when compared to most his age. Arsenal try and develop talent and get the best out of players. Such as English Ashley Cole for example, or English Justin Hoyte who the have loaned out to Sunderland. it seems recently that Arsenal running on their current budget they've had to buy from abroad to keep challenging for the title. And if Arsenal aren't going to use players, they loan them out, or even sell them , Like David Bently, Like Anthony Stokes, Like Jermain Pennent, Like Niklas Bendtner and Seb Larsen. So I will call you a grade A spanner, because you haven't got the first clue what your talking about, Arsenal do not waste anyones talent.

I agree with your point. i obviously unfairly named Arsenal and i stand corrected by your above statement. Atleast i admit it when i am incorrect. My apologies sir for arguing with you without sufficiant knowledge.

I'm going to print that and frame it. Kudos sir.

I will finally be remembered for something. I feel like i somewhat acheived soething now. All publicity is good publicity. Walcott is a qaulity player would lvoe to see him here, but i think he will end up at man city.
TrickyTrev Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 How many of these talents are english? and if they are where are they, and why are they not breaking into premiership/championship teams? Brain engaged and spoken. Yes but if the English talent is good enough Wenger has shown he knows how to develop you into a quality player. Fabregas, Cole, Toure e.t.c all coming through the youth system. As is half of their first team squad!

They were actually swiped at a young age (15,16) but yes I agreed if the talents there Wenger will get it out of them.
