Thracian Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 IT WAS A KNEE-HIGH TWO-FOOTED LUNGE, A LEG BREAK WAITING TO HAPPEN I know your a fan but to defend that kind of tackle is a disgrace Call me all the names you like. But I tell you this. If Shush! was in my team or Fryatt, or Henderson or anyone else, you wouldn't hear one damn word of criticism of any of them. You'd know exactly what commitment to players could be like. Disgrace or not. You wouldn't get me slinking back into the shadows when we were losing either. And another thing. Shush! wouldn't have been sent off on my watch either. Cos he would have been here where he belonged and where he would have been appreciated and doing everything he could to help our cause. Same as Gradel, temperament and all. PS: I tried to turn up the tackle but no luck. Has it been censored? Has Manwell hidden it? Or kept it to himself for future reference?
davieG Posted 28 April 2008 Author Posted 28 April 2008 Two footed and worth a Red by today's standards but no way was it knee high he was cutting the grass with his studs as he went in. Why do players feel the need to start a ruck though?

Thracian Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Sounds harmless. Like a bit of a finger wagging when I was a kid.

davieG Posted 30 April 2008 Author Posted 30 April 2008 Lincolnshire Echo WANTED man Louis Dodds says Leicester City's crunch relegation clash on Sunday holds the key to his Sincil Bank future. The talented forward will watch with interest as the Foxes look to avoid relegation from the Championship with victory against promotion-chasing Stoke City. But Dodds, who says two clubs have already been in contact with his agent about deals for next season, believes he may have more chance of staying with Leicester if they drop to League One. "It would be an absolute disaster if they were to be relegated but it could be good for me" said the 21-year-old. "I have thought about the situation and if they go down then there may be more opportunities for me to play - although there are no guarantees of that. "There has been some contact with Leicester, but they have told everyone to hold on until they know in which division they will be playing next season. They've just told me to keep working hard. "So many players find themselves out of contract in the summer, so you have to concentrate on looking after your own interests.

Considering he's played out of position Dodds has had an excellent first season for Lincoln and how we could have done with a midfielder who returned 9 goals (third top scorer) and two assists and clocked up the joint highest number of apearances with 39 starts (two in the Cup) and four substitute appearances. As a Kirby Muxloe lad I can understand his ambition to play for Leicester but we didn't want Luke Varney and I don't suppose he'll be better treated if we go down than when he was here before when it comes to first team selection. We've shown what we like at Leicester. We prefer untried foreigners and rustic loanees. If Dodds came from Iran, Hungary or some other distant location he'd have had his chance but despite doing more in a month than most of those foreigners ever produced in their entire time here, Dodds was shipped out with no opportunities at all despite the countless goals he scored during his development years. Fifteen months ago I said he was a far better bet than Matt Fryatt and got mocked for it. Yet, to my mind, the statistics speak for themselves. Nine goals from midfield is bloody good strike rate. If he does return good luck to him. He should perhaps start praying Beaglehole gets to be manager. Well, he's an option if we go down I have to admit. Depending on who we get rid of (DJ FORKING CAMPBELL) I didn't think you liked him any more than Shush!

SO NO THE STATS DON'T SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. To be honest I'd have Shush! in League One as well he'd be a good player at the level, in fact he is a good player at that level. But he's going to no point talking about it he's clearly fallen out with someone. I don't think Dodds is ready for Championship football at all but if we're going down he could be useful certainly as a squad player. One thing we all agreed on was with his record it's a shame he never really got a sniff at some point even if it was just a cup game. If he kicks on after his time at Lincoln he could make a name for himself. However if we stay up I'd be inclinded to let him go and sign some players who aren't useless (DJ FORKING CAMPBELL)

That's the best he'll get here and he'll probably do himself and his career more good by going somewhere they'll appreciate him and want to pick him - as Lincoln did."

I'm sure he'd get his chance he'd just have to take it, depends on whos in charge what their attitudes towards football are etc. It's all up in the air till after Sundays game.
lildave3 Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Dodds - Was absolutely poor today, didn't get it into the game and didn't really do anything of note. His corners weren't upto much either. But, the reception he got when he was subbed towards the end showed he's certainly impressed there, most people on there feet and chants of 'Sign him up' ringing round. To which we replied, feel free.
ArubaKelp Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Gradel couldnt inspire Bournemouth to complete their great escape then. Shame. He definitely wont stay there then, too good for league 2 given his form this season.
Koke Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Gael Clichy - 6 assists this season - No free kicks taken, no corners taken. Now, that's what you call a proper full back.
Thracian Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Gael Clichy - 6 assists this season - No free kicks taken, no corners taken. Now, that's what you call a proper full back. It doesn't matter how the assists come. One of Leicester's problems is that they don't come anyhow from left-back any longer. And there's no real chance of changing that now. PS: I'd have no problem with us signing Clichy! As if!
Joe. Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Dodds was awful today for Lincoln, but to be honest I think he'll stay there next season. Like LD3 said, the fans seem to like him and he's done fairly well in his loan spell there. But I couldn't see much to suggest he's good enough for a higher division- not very fast, pulls out of challenges too often and gave the ball away at times.
Ultra Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 Gradel couldnt inspire Bournemouth to complete their great escape then. Shame. He definitely wont stay there then, too good for league 2 given his form this season. Considering he's just signed a new contract with us, I wouldn't expect him to stay there. How we could have done with him this season...
