Wrong Game? Oakley had a solid performance today, he so rarely gives away possesion and he tries to get good footbal going.

Maybe because he rarely had possession of the ball.

i think 1st team should look like this

Alnwick

Stearman McAuley Kisnorbo Chambers

Bori Oakley Wesolowski Mattock

Hume Howard

Subs: Clapham/N'gotty/Cox, Clemence, Laczko, Hayles/Campbell/Fryatt (other 2 places)

:S he had quite alot of the ball tonight he made alot of short passes, i also like the way he comes inside form the right and lays it across the 6 yard box like the goal against palace.

Chambers at left back, why?

Blackpool and now this. Am I still in Blackpool? May as well be, I couldn't tell the difference. The best thing about Blackpool last week was the hotel - damn good too it was. If you're ever in that neck of the woods, why wouldn't you?, fantastic place :S , stay at the Best Western. Anyway, back onto the football, if you can call it that...

I can't be bothered to give individual ratings. Why should I when our football team can't be bothered to put on some half decent entertainment? I've now watched 3 hours straight of absolutely NOTHING and what a waste of time that was. Having said that, the opposition in both games pretty much offered absolutely NOTHING either, but managed a collective 3 shots on goal, converting all of these. We on the other hand, couldn't score through a goal a mile wide, no matter how good the chance.

The football is so poor and yet we lie pretty much at the bottom of this poor pile with no obvious route of escape from it. It's depressing. I've had enough of it.

I'm fed up with the excuses, well so and so had a pretty good game, he was 'solid', he was this, he was that, bottom line, we are rubbish, playing against rubbish, at the bottom of rubbish. 'Nuff said I'm off.

cuz he looked decent today and Stearz is playing well. I think hed do the job there its not like playing Barry Hayles left wing which is rediculous.

It is you're quite right.

But Chambers is not a left back.

And I thought Clapham was our best player today.

Alnwick: 7.25 (One exceptional save from Easter to keep the match alive by stopping us going 2-0 down. Generally sound and one of the few pluses from the day).

Chambers: 5.5 (Exactly as I anticipated. Sound enough defensively but lost going forward. Anyone who believes he's a better option that Stearman is in Never Never Land).

Kisnorbo: 5 (Good job Plymouth didn't really commit to attack because they passed us to death at times and got a yard on us every time in attack when the opportunity arose. I've mentioned that any team who stretches our defence and plays

simple passes between and behind our defenders will have us and that was emphasised today. But for Alnwick we'd have been out of our misery sooner).

McAuley: 4 (Was he bad? Yes he threatened from the odd free kick but his distribution was diabolocal. Just refused to play the simple pass, particularly to Chambers. Too slow and ponderous).

Clapham: 4 (He's getting no honeymoon mark from me. Played one decent crossfield pass second half but lost his man for the goal, a sin which cost Mattock his place last week. Looked loose defensively and offered nothing by way of attacking threat whatsoever. Shush!'s chance creation was desperately missed in every way today).

Hume: 5.5 (It's criminal to play Hume on the right wing. He might reputedly sulk about it but he tried his best and occasionally threatened to create something but he's like a fish on dry land and all the threat he posed as a striker was lost. Did he have a single shot?. Bizarre selection really.

Clemence: 3.75 (Some of you lot keep insisting he's a good player but, apart from getting caught in possession and almost costing us a goal what did he contribute? Thoroughbred? If he'd been the only horse in the race he'd have come second. I hope Holloway's as harsh judging him as the senior players were on Mattock).

Oakley 4.25 (suddenly Derby are looking the bright ones for selling him. I just wish I could earn money so easily for have so little effect).

Bori: 4.25 (It was only when he was taken off I realised he was playing. Gradel or Bori? You've got to be joking. It's like asking if the world is square or round. DavieG made a good point about him spending too muich time defending and not enough making things happen, which is the prime purpose of a winger).

Howard: 4.5 (Won some headers but was so slow and cumbersome, again).

Hayles: 3 (Ollie's blue eyed boy but was a disappointment almost throughout).

Subs:

Lazcko 4.5 (That looked like a dive to me and if it was he'd get one warning followed by his pass out if it happened again).

Campbell 7 (Our one outfield sparkler. How the hell can Holloway watch people train all week and leave this guy out in favour of the donkey's he played? We are desperate for pace but we leave the one player who fits the bill on the bench. Moronic).

Fryatt 4 (Great chance to score but just didn't bust a gut for it. He always shows promise in situations like today but just doesn't seem to pose enough threat long term).

Holloway 0 (When faced with a challenge he was found wanting. Hume out of position, players uninspired, Campbell left on the bench, Clapham a real anticlimax and when we needed a kamikaze approach he replaced one forward with another and far too late instead of leaving both on and making the change earlier. Managerial disaster really.

ive watched the replay of the goal on SSN and it was Clapham who failed to clear for the goal and the bloke he was supposed to be marking that scored personally i think despite not being terrible he wasnt anything better than what we already had. he offers next to nothing going forward aswell.

Wasn't it Clapham that blocked the original shot?

Spot on with Clemence thrac. ive been trying to raise that point for ages apart from his set pieces he offers little. A bit harsh on Bori though he wasnt the worst player in the team by a long shot

Btw Thracian, I think you're being incredibly harsh on Bori.

of course he is, he's in the way of his new chosen 1

Can we all please indicate whether we're rating the players based on their televisual appearance or their actual appearance as seen from within the confines of the stadium?

Ta. :)

Can't see why it makes the slightest bit of difference.

Micky, explain why you thought Oakley deserved 6.5 please.

6, if you it makes you feel better.

I've always been impressed with Oakley, maybe i am being biased.

He seems to go missing too often for me.

Aside from Coventry where everything seemed to click for one game, I don't think he's done much at all.

Of course, the long ball doesn't help but still.
