City vs Plymouth Match Ratings

Alnwick 6 Didn't do much wrong. I don't blame him for the goal and good save to stop further humiliation. I'd like to see him mix his distribution but I suppose if he throws the ball to our defenders they'll end up hoofing it anyway.

Clapham 5 Reasonable defensively but I want to see our full backs overlapping the midfield at times

Kisnorbo 4 Below par defensively with the usual poor distribution

McAuley 5 Slightly better than Kisnorbo defensively but equally poor passing

Chambers 5 Reasonably solid. Didn't get forward enough. Some through balls just didn't come off

Bori 6 Tried to get the ball down and play but not helped by many of the Muppets around him.Surprised he was subbed

Clemence 3 Unable to drive the team forward. No creativity. Is he now our best set-piece taker? I'd like to see more pace on our corners and free kicks

Oakley 5 More industrious than Clemence in my opinion but hardly creative

Hume 6 Usual energy. Tried to make things happen but he is not a right winger

Hayles 3 Huffed and puffed ..... at times

Howard 4 A carthorse . Spends too much time looking to win free kicks rather than the ball. Better than Horsfield but £1.3 million . FFS!

Campbell 5 Energetic and almost got on the end of some knock downs

Laczko 5 Extra point for outrageous dive. Only time I smiled and was entertained by us all afternoon

Fryatt No rating for the obvious reason

Ollie 2 Square pegs round holes. Sat on the bench too much. If we are losing or not performing I want to see the manager pitchside. He was a bit of a startled bunny during the game. 2 points awarded for lock in

AGREE

85 minutes on the clock, we have a corner, let's jog over to take it - ars*hole, where is the urgency?

Every ball he played forward last night was a yard short and put the receiver in danger.

Otherwise he took the Junior Lewis option of sideways or backwards. CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP

It's not even A square peg in a round hole. It's a round hole, with 5 different pegs, let's try them all in the same game & hope for the best. Someone must watch them at training, what do they do?

Just read the thread and no no no to Chambers playing LB. Mattock and Stears were missed yesterday. Sometimes you need to see a match when they don't play to appreciate them. No pace at all from anyone all match.

Howard - 5 Gave away far too many fouls and missed a couple of chances

i thought the ref was a bit harsh on him. there players were all over him a lot of the time and the decisions still went plymouths way.

Apart from the bit where he missed a blatant elbow on their keeper you mean.

Alnwick - 5 two good saves but should have done better with the goal

Chambers - 3 felt we missed Stears out there today

McAuley - 3

Kisnorbo - 3

Clapham - 5 Nothing special and certainly no better than Joe

Bori - 4

Clemence - 4 not enough passion or energy

Oakley - 4

Hume - 3 a madman going nowhere and doing no damage from wide positions - plenty of bookings and a sending off or two ahead if he doesnt stay calm

Howard - 4 Huff and puff and not much else

Hayles - 3 should never have started and will surely lose place

Laczko 4 and Ive added one for the dive !!

Fryatt - ridiculous to come on at that time ......dont understand it

Campbell - 6 at least looked interested and eager

Overall a poor performance , substitutions that puzzled and a team going nowhere but lower in the league and going there fast.

i'd give them all 4's, Bori and Clem 3's, mybe Clapham and Howard 5's

Bori was our best player. Full stop. Tried desperately to creat things and in a good team he would have. By the way I FOOKIN HATE HAYLES

Exactly some of his one touch give and go stuff was quite nifty. Its a shame his team mates didn't think the same way.

And its a shame some people are so far up Gradels arse crack at the min there rating this guy low and comparing them.

Even though some people didn't realise Bori was out of position and playing on the opposite flank to Gradel.

Ok so I've had 24hours to calm down enough to at least be rational.

That was the most disgraceful perfomance this season and the players should be ashamed and so should Holloway.

Alnwick 5.5 A couple of good save in the second half but some of his kicking is terrible and more often than not he just kicks it long and straight back to the opposition.

Clapham 5 defensively sound but offered no attacking options going forward. Did well to last as long as he did though.

Kisnorbo 2 given a torrid time by their strikers and usual crap distribution.

Mccauley 1 On that display we will regret not selling him. Beaten in the air almost every time. Doesn't command the area in the way he should and couldn't pass his way out of a crisp packet. a pathetic excuse for a pro footballer.

Chambers 2.5 Awful. how much space does he want to give his opponent. Words fail me.

Bori 4 poor. never managed to get in a single dangerous cross.

clemence 3 totally outplayed by nalis. No leadership, no desire and no fighting spirit.

Oakley 4 little better than Clemence and looks the average player he probably really is.

Hume 3.5 simply not a wide player. looks disinterested and generally contributed nothing.

Hayles 4 at least he tried even if his contribution was minimal.

Howard 1 A total disgrace. Extremely lucky not to be sent off and spent most of the game bickering with the ref. faded completely in the second half. A carthorse not a workhorse.

Laczko 4 not very good.

campbell 4 typical dj performance. ! goodish chance blazed wildly over but offered little as usual. Looking like an expensive Elvis hammond.

fryatt not on long enough.

Holloway 0 I have never been so disgusted by the performance of a manager. Invisible for most of the game. Where the hell was he? if he was sensitive to Plymouth then he shouldn't have been. He is employed by us to manage us and I don't care whether he thinks Plymouth fans might be upset. he should have been on the touch line encouraging HIS team. I'm sick of his mouthy platitudes. he should shut up and get on with managing and motivating HIS team because if that was the best he can do we will be relegated.

It wasn't quite as bad as the Sheff U or Burnley home games, or Hull away. At least we created some decent chances.

But it was still dire, and the type of defeat we still seem to be suffering far too often.

Alnwick: 7.25 (One exceptional save from Easter to keep the match alive by stopping us going 2-0 down. Generally sound and one of the few pluses from the day).

Chambers: 5.5 (Exactly as I anticipated. Sound enough defensively but lost going forward. Anyone who believes he's a better option that Stearman is in Never Never Land).

Kisnorbo: 5 (Good job Plymouth didn't really commit to attack because they passed us to death at times and got a yard on us every time in attack when the opportunity arose. I've mentioned that any team who stretches our defence and plays

simple passes between and behind our defenders will have us and that was emphasised today. But for Alnwick we'd have been out of our misery sooner).

McAuley: 4 (Was he bad? Yes he threatened from the odd free kick but his distribution was diabolocal. Just refused to play the simple pass, particularly to Chambers. Too slow and ponderous).

Clapham: 4 (He's getting no honeymoon mark from me. Played one decent crossfield pass second half but lost his man for the goal, a sin which cost Mattock his place last week. Looked loose defensively and offered nothing by way of attacking threat whatsoever. Shush!'s chance creation was desperately missed in every way today).

Hume: 5.5 (It's criminal to play Hume on the right wing. He might reputedly sulk about it but he tried his best and occasionally threatened to create something but he's like a fish on dry land and all the threat he posed as a striker was lost. Did he have a single shot?. Bizarre selection really.

Clemence: 3.75 (Some of you lot keep insisting he's a good player but, apart from getting caught in possession and almost costing us a goal what did he contribute? Thoroughbred? If he'd been the only horse in the race he'd have come second. I hope Holloway's as harsh judging him as the senior players were on Mattock).

Oakley 4.25 (suddenly Derby are looking the bright ones for selling him. I just wish I could earn money so easily for have so little effect).

Bori: 4.25 (It was only when he was taken off I realised he was playing. Gradel or Bori? You've got to be joking. It's like asking if the world is square or round. DavieG made a good point about him spending too muich time defending and not enough making things happen, which is the prime purpose of a winger).

Howard: 4.5 (Won some headers but was so slow and cumbersome, again).

Hayles: 3 (Ollie's blue eyed boy but was a disappointment almost throughout).

Subs:

Lazcko 4.5 (That looked like a dive to me and if it was he'd get one warning followed by his pass out if it happened again).

Campbell 7 (Our one outfield sparkler. How the hell can Holloway watch people train all week and leave this guy out in favour of the donkey's he played? We are desperate for pace but we leave the one player who fits the bill on the bench. Moronic).

Fryatt 4 (Great chance to score but just didn't bust a gut for it. He always shows promise in situations like today but just doesn't seem to pose enough threat long term).

Holloway 0 (When faced with a challenge he was found wanting. Hume out of position, players uninspired, Campbell left on the bench, Clapham a real anticlimax and when we needed a kamikaze approach he replaced one forward with another and far too late instead of leaving both on and making the change earlier. Managerial disaster really.

That is incredibly harsh on Fryatt, other than that, excellent analysis. It was a really tough chance. He did well to get in front of his man and steer it goalwards and was only denied by a very good save.

From the sounds of it, a certain Mr Oakley went missing as per.

Plays a blinding first 20 of each half and then you see nothing of him!

He spent most of the game with the ball over his head, when the ball was down on the floor he was fairly useful.
