Dr The Singh Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Oakley & Alnwick yes but I wouldn't put Steve Howard, Barry Hayles and Jamie Clapham in the good quality catagory from what I've seen (and in Claphams case know) so far. Hungarians are difficult to judge yet, but one thing we needed was extra options on the wing other than them and we've failed to get that. Howard does a particular job and does it quite well, he is a quality champoinship player at best, the hungarians add some balance and I agree they are abit of a unkown quantity. Hayles and Clapham should be squad players. Hayles is a bruiser, some defenders, especially after 80 mins of footy won't fancy a tango with him!!
Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I like Howard, but I thought he was crap on Monday, but all the other games (2) I have seen him play for us he was superb. We need a player like him in the squad, we've not had a good centre forward who can head a ball for a few seasons now.

I've heard about this good headerer of the ball that he is but he missed two sitters on Monday with his head, and he doesn't seem to win many from Alnwicks hoofs either.

No excuses for the misses, he also missed one away at QPR. I am willing to put that down to sheer bad luck right now, but his overall aerial ability from what i've seen away at QPR and at home to Coventry was very impressive. Monday he was pretty poor, lack of movement as well. He looks like he's trying too hard right now, he get's very frustrated with himself when he misses chances. His spells at Luton and Derby show that he's lethal in the air though, but we still don't appear to be putting in as many crosses as we should be doing. Some decent headers in this collection
smokey Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Excellent news, nearly everyone gone who should have gone.De Vries GONE Cort GONE Maybury LOAN Douglas LOAN Kenton GONE Nielson GONE Newton GONE Just Hellings, Kishishev, Kaebi and Hammond left to go .... 50 minutes on the clock Dont forget hayes and porter!! Lets be honest here, there ok young lads but will never be first choice left wingers and even squad players im not sure, so let them both go with the above in the summer and carry on the good building that ollie as started!!
gosfox Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 For a team in our position at the start of the TWindow I think Ollie has done pretty well with his signings....it seems that some people expect us to be able to pick up premiership class players at the drop of a hat
Durnerz Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 He'll do a job for them......scrubbing the bogs in the dressing room.
beemeroo Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Firstly, how is he considered good enough to be playing UEFA cup football? Secondly, , he just gave away a penalty!
Nick Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Firstly, how is he considered good enough to be playing UEFA cup football?Secondly, , he just gave away a penalty! Different league, different opportunities to qualify......I see your point though.
Asha Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Firstly, how is he considered good enough to be playing UEFA cup football?Secondly, , he just gave away a penalty! At the end of the day, he's the only leicester player to feature in Europe this season and therefore, the highest profile player?
marbelladave Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Firstly, how is he considered good enough to be playing UEFA cup football?Secondly, , he just gave away a penalty! Watching the game, Maybury is playing pretty well, against BAYERN MUNICH FFS. Could not see Chambers or Stearman doing anywhere near as well. Bayern are playing Podolski, Kloser, Toni and Ze Maria and Maybury is more than holding his own! Penalty was harsh, driven cross from 5 yds away, arm was away from body so maybe, but Ref did not give a near identical handball by Bayern in the first half. Aberdeen playing pretty well considering. (2-2 after 70 mins)
davieG Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Firstly, how is he considered good enough to be playing UEFA cup football?Secondly, , he just gave away a penalty! He played UEFA Cup football for Hearts before he came to us and we ruined him like every other half useful player that signs for us.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 2-2 in the end... they will get a raping in Germany though
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 He did play really well tonight, althogh it was a definate pen.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 He did play really well tonight, althogh it was a definate pen. Hmm.. I'll look out for a replay. He played for Aberdeen on the weekend, but it was hard to tell how well he played considering we had 60% possession and beat them by 4 goals... I saw him take a throw in though, and we didn't get that ball straight away, so I suppose I could say he played well...
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 He played UEFA Cup football for Hearts before he came to us and we ruined him like every other half useful player that signs for us. Honestly we are cursed.... I keeping tell you all but you never listen... We ruined Ade Akinbiyi's Career!!!!
Fishn Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 "Bayern began the second half positively, and were awarded a penalty eight minutes in, when luckless Alan Maybury handled after a cross by Ze Roberto." It could have been some night aswell...
