We're on the final run in, it's been a particualarly dissappointing season on the whole, 2 managers and back up teams with virtually 2 squads.

Team against West Ham 7th August 2004:

City: Walker, Dabizas (capt), Heath (Keown 88), Nalis, Dublin, Scowcroft, Stewart, Makin, Williams, Connolly, Wilcox (Blake 90).

Subsnot used: Pressman, Gemmill, Gillespie.

Team against West Ham 18 March 2005:

City: Walker I, Kenton, Dabizas, McCarthy, Maybury, Gillespie, Hughes, Gudjonsson, Tiatto © (Williams 60), Connolly (Stewart 82), Dublin (de Vries 71).

Subs not used: Hirschfeld, Moore.

Only 4 players started both games Walker, Dabizas, Connolly & Dublin. In the first game including subs there were 9 debutants of which 4 have now left. The second game including subs and loans had 7 players who were not here at the start of the season.

So with all that in mind who would be your player of the season so far?

To fit the list in I've left out Peter Canero, Lee Morris, Nathan Blake, Tommy Wright, Stefan Moore (on loan from Villa), Richard Stearman, Jamie Scowcroft (on loan to Ipswich ), Darren Kenton (on loan from Sthptn ), Jason Wilcox, Scot Gemmill

Id definetly say Tiatto as for me when he came on against Watford he completely changed the game and showed how important he is to the team, close second would be Gillespie for the way he has come on SO much!!!

Tiatto is one of those players that never seems to play particularly well but we always play well as a team when he is on IMO =/ the same can probably be said for when we stick Dion Dublin upfront.. bagged our two goals while he was up there yesterday.. =/

Hughes looks great but has come in to late to be player of the year!

So..........mmm.....Connolly!!Best of a poor lot!

+ he been in the side all year!

I think Tiatto has been fairly consistent until recently, where he has put in substandard performances. But I would find it difficult to pick a player of the season becuase imo nobody has shone out for the whole season.

I've gone for Gillespie simple because of the massive improvement he has shown over the last 3-4 months and the fact that he always seems to do something positive with the ball. When he's in possession I'm always confident he's either going to put the opposition under pressure or lay the ball off to a team mate. Rarely does he mess up nowadays.

Tiatto would have been my favourite but his performances over the past 6-8 games have got progressvely worse. He seems to have lost a bit of pace and ends up causing more fouls than tackles recently, I also don't like the way the wanders infield all the time leaving the left wing vulnerable. Maybe he needs resting for a couple of games, to recover from his hamstring (?) problem fully?

easily best player in the team IMO and with hughes and gillespie i tihnk we have one of if not the best midfield in the league

Exactly, Levein coming in really did give him a boot up the arse to perform, god knows what Adams used to say to him.

Danny T for me

Only problem with tiatto is that he would have difficulty playing pass the parcel, let alone passing a football!

Makes too many stupid mistakes and gives the ball away when he isn't under pressure. I like his no nonsense approach though!

Gone for Gillespie, although he would probably be better off in a most improved player category. I have a feeling, though that Stephen Hughes will get the vote for next season - he looks like the best prospect at the club for a long while.

Gillespie for me too - I could only really choose from the midfielders though, it was between him and Williams but Gillespie has been more consistent out of the two.
