Uncle Monty Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I live here and i reckon its pretty shit. It has its good points but are far outweighed by its bad points, this is quite a slanderous thing to say but it seems everyone in wales is racist! - actually thats a racist thing to say but whatever. Always seems to be raining and its windy! Just wanted to know other peeps opinions because everyone else ive spoken to loves it here.
act smiley Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I like it. OK, there's the odd comical anti-english crazy, but generally everyones nice and its generally rather good. Weather is always crap though.
Messi Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 yep went on saturday then went to somewhere called 'Blaina' to meet up with friends who we met off holiday and it was very nice there, people were very friendly.
Finnegan Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 There's racism in Cardiff like there's racism anywhere. I think a lot of people take the fairly content ethnic diversity of places like Birmingham, London and Leicester for granted. Go live in Bolton, Blackburn, er, Belfast, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Swansea or wherever and I'm sure you'll find fairly different attitudes to race and immigration. It's not because those people are necessarily inherently racist, it's that these people are less used to sharing their environment with what isn't the white British norm. I'm not justifying ignorance, but then I'm not naive enough to expect everywhere to be devoid of racial tension, either. As a place I love Cardiff. Bias aside, it's a really nice city. It's a fairly sociable city, it's a fairly attractive city and it's easy to find a decent pub! Much rather a day out in Cardiff than Leicester, tbh! Leicester's a grotty shithole, really, in contrast.

I have never lived in Leicester and would echo your thoughts about Leicester, i can't comment on Cardiff though.

Parents moved to Leicester just over a decade ago now. I was never much into 'the lesser sport' ( ) before coming to England so my first local team was City really.
Sparky Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Went there last year for Carling cup final as me and the lads won tickets , everybody looked down on us as soon as they new we were english , thought Cardiff city centre was crap but was quite impressed by cardiff bay .
Alexikokopops Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I like Cardiff. Been there twice, had an awesome time both times. Job done.
Finnegan Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 everybody looked down on us as soon as they new we were english It's cute how Masters says that like it isn't an obvious fact of life.
Head Honcho Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Anyone who thinks Cardiff is crap doesn't really know Cardiff! I can understand people coming down for the day and not enjoying it (you don't know where to go for starters) but for anyone livivng here it's pitiful to say "Cardiff is crap".
Leicester Lass Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 My sister goes to uni there, and I like it, the bay especially.

Knocks spots off Leicester, imo. Might be a bit smaller but then a lot of places are.

Yeah fair doos id go along with that , nice Weatherspoons and O neills along the main road but couldnt find much else other than some 70s disco place. And why does everyone from cardiff seem to be built like a brick outhouse

And why does everyone from cardiff seem to be built like a brick outhouse Well that's it you see, the place to go in Cardiff changes every week. Club promoters change venues like the wind-if you follow the promoters and not the clubs you can't go far wrong. Clubbing aside though you'll find some top DJ bars open til four in the morning and the recently opened Revolution is an absolute must for pulling.
Matt Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I was there last week working, 7am to 11pm. I was sent to Haverfordwest (About 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive) just to change a light bulb in a Sony shop, Then on the way back had to go to Cardiff (About 2 hours) to change a light box in a Virgin Media shop. Been Cardiff twice now (To the same shop) but never really had a good look round Cardiff, Looks quite nice, quite nice, clean city, but not got very much (From what i've seen). The Stadium (About the only thing I could see of intrest) is amazing, huge. I'm sure there's more to Cardiff than I think as I said never really had chance to find out whats about in the City.
PAULCFC Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 Was the first time we went to cardiff on sat.Got there at 11,had a tour round the millenium stadium that took an hour and was really good.Went over the road to a pub and got talking to some Munster rugby fans, had fish and chips and some Brains Bitter.Walked up to ninnian park, stood up for once at a footy match and drove home!CARDIFFS GOOD!
Uncle Monty Posted 5 March 2008 Author Posted 5 March 2008 Good to visit, not to live. Mind you i'm comparing it to Leicester
