ibbosuk Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I see no reason not to play him from the start tonight. .....Apart from the fact that he is SHITE at scoring goals....
Calum McDermott Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I Have to say after the last few weeks where our strikers havent performed and scored the goals that will move us out the relegation battle. Campbell is quick but i dont rate him as a finisher compared to fryatt, Ive listened to many debate on here about Fryatt but You only have to look at his goals an nobody can deny he is one of the best finishers at the club. Fryatt hasnt been given a run in the side by holloway and everyone deserves a chance, so after his appearences off the bench I think Fryatt deserves a start, Apparentley he is in contention to start against southampton tonight! so im hoping he does play and proves many of his doubters wrong and scores to give us a win over southampton.Keep The Faith! Hmm... fryatt has a worse goal scoring record than mark de vries at this club, but interesting comment.
breadandcheese Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 All the goal scoring arguments seem to point to starting Hume upfront alongside Howard. I'd much rather see this tonight.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Basically, all our strikers are very poor, it's a question of who is the best of a bad bunch. They've all had a chance but the reason myself, and a few others, want Fryatt playing is to give him an opportunity in Holloway's new team. No-one can deny that he has had the least opportunity to impress in this team compared to the others. Obviously it would be last chance saloon and if he fails to sparkle and we would have to admit defeat, but I'd like to see him start at least 3 or 4 consecutive games before the end of the season.
Mort Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I'd like to see him start at least 3 or 4 consecutive games before the end of the season. We dont have "3 or 4 consecutive games" to play around with this season seeing if a player "fits-in"!
dandannieldanok Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 We dont have "3 or 4 consecutive games" to play around with this season seeing if a player "fits-in"! I really can't see us getting any success from the current strikeforce though, especially Howard who has been a massive let-down, for me anyway.
Head Honcho Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 .....Apart from the fact that he is SHITE at scoring goals.... ..............and DJ and Howard have been banging them in You fvckwit!
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Since when have League One goals started to impress you MP? I don't really ever remember having any major swings at League one, League Two I admit I've taken swings at as it's two divisions down. But yes League One goalscorers aren't reallywhat we want, it was more the fact that he carried on his good form when he signed for us that made me say that. And if you try actually reading what I put you'll see it's not even my opinion I'm explaining anyway.
Thracian Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Elvis can play as long as we drop Howard. It's so long since I've seen or heard mention of Hammond I wonder if the guy's been kidnapped? Does anyone have an update?
Head Honcho Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Our strikers haven't scored in 4 matches yet I've gone for 2-2! I must be mad.
Monk Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 How many times have we had this conversation! How many chances does the guy need? I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think he is the solution.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 It's so long since I've seen or heard mention of Hammond I wonder if the guy's been kidnapped? Does anyone have an update? Yeah, he's still shit.
Sparky Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 If Fryatt had extra 2 yards of pace he would be a good championship striker in my opinion , but he hasnt got an extra 2 yards of pace so he is not . DJ over Fryatt every time for me
Thracian Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Yeah, he's still shit. I think my comment fell on stony ground!
Webbo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 DJ has pace and Hume works hard, problem is they're both as thick as shit. Fryatt imo has the best football brain at the club and I'd start him tonight.
Joe. Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Ahh the perfect thread for a rant... I just fail to see the big obsession with Matty Fryatt. Our fans absolutely adore him and I just don't understand why. He can do no wrong at all in most people's eyes and I don't actually know what they see in him. Right, he has no great goalscoring record, no real pace, strength or superb finishing ability and he's caught offside a crazy amount of times (like DJ I'll admit). So what really is the big obssession with him? People lament Elvis for his footballing abilties yet the facts show as a striker he actually has a better goalscoring record. Everytime DJ Campbell does something remotely poor the fans refuse to budge off the Matty Fryatt bandwagon and sing that song. How good can that be for DJ's confidence? Moronic fans that sing that really expect Matty Fryatt to be our saviour. Let's be brutally honest, he's living off of goals he scored in the 2005/06 season that helped keep us up. Yes he showed signs of what he could potentially be but since then he's done nothing to suggest this greatness. I don't completely dislike Fryatt, there are definitely good aspects to his game but what really annoys me is the fact he's so badly overrated by our fans. I'd go as far to say he's possibly one of the most overrated players I've ever come across.
pazey69 Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 i know this is in the wrong thread, could not be bothered to begin a new one, but does anyone think kishishev deserves a chance?? or evern just to be in the squad? as seen as we have clemence and weso out, surely it would make sense? hendrie kishishev oakley and etuhu? or maybe im wrong!
Mort Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 After today i'm thinking this was just a massive joke post... ...if you dont laugh, you'll cry
Webbo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I can't remember DJ having a shot all match, I never heard Hume mentioned, Howard did nothing and the only player who had a shot all night gets the blame.
