Guest ttfn Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I've said it before but Fryatt started many games out of position this season. So the stats are a little misleading. Yes, he hasn't scored enough goals but those sub appearances have been, for the most part, a joke this season, Ollie has brought him on at least 3 times with less than 5 minutes to play
Simi Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Fryatt is the best finisher at the club? Yes of course. 17 Starts this season. Certainly yeah. MYTH.
Daggers Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 There are two myths - one that he is secretly good and the other that he will become marvellous as soon as he transfers out. Both require the services of people much greater than I to dispel....although I figure that even they would have a bastard of a job convincing City fans that he's crap.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 What exactly constitutes "a chance" nowadays. According to the stats Matty Fryatt has had SEVENTY-NINE chances at Leicester City so far (61 starts and 18 as sub) and has scored just 16 goals. That is the reality and it doesn't make persuasive reading. Got a link for that?
Koke Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Fryatt is the best finisher at the club? Yes of course.17 Starts this season. Certainly yeah. MYTH. Its the biggest myth surrounding this club.
Samilktray Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Its the biggest myth surrounding this club. What about Sergio Hellings? Thats a myth in itself.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I cant tell you how annoyed I get when people start calling for him to come on when we all know he'll make about as much impact on the game than a paracetomol would make to a terminally ill person....
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Got a link for that? http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=35650 He is right theres no question he's had problems scoring. Then again, the only striker that does score for us is Ian Hume and he's always the first name on the team sheet, I do wonder when people are going to relise that when comparing Hammond, Fryatt, DJ, etc that there really isn't a world of difference between having scored three goals and having scored five.

So what's the argument for calling Fryatt the best finisher at the club then?
STUHILL Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Got a link for that? http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Profi...4~23848,00.html I make it 62 appearance (19 as sub) 13 goals
Babylon Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 etc that there really isn't a world of difference between having scored three goals and having scored five. Says the man with "It was 19 goals last season! Alright? Not Fecking 20." in his signature

Manwell Pablo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 So what's the argument for calling Fryatt the best finisher at the club then? I don't remember making that arguement. Ever, although it does have to be said he is a better finisher than DJ. I think Humes the best finisher at the club currently despite his misfiring on Saturday.

Manwell Pablo Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Well people fighting the same battle as you have made the same comments. It makes no sense. I'm not fighting any battle if Fryatt doesn't get in the team fine with me I've stated my opinions and don't wish to make a crusade about it, the lad doesn't score (and apparently we've decided he never will) But I said, my opinion on the matter is there’s not a lot of difference between scoring five goals and three in a season. Humes been farmed out to the right wing and despite Howard being shit he seems to have managed to make himself and permanent fixture on the team sheet. I can't speak for the people claiming he's the best finisher at the club but for me, I've seen enough chances wasted by DJ Campbell and Fryatt hasn't started a game since we bought in a whole new midfield. I'd like to see him given a go. I should think the argument that he's the best finisher at the club stems from the fact that he bagged 20 goals a couple of seasons ago, at the age of 20. Which is impressive even if almost 3/4 of them were scored in League One. Then again Campbell scored for fun in League One for a short period so it's swings at roundabouts.
STUHILL Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 I think fryatt is a good finisher BUT he doesn't offer much else at the moment. Hopefully he can develop other parts of his game as he's still young. I see him as a super-sub this season! Well i'm hoping anyway!
Brenfox Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Best finisher at the club or not he needs the service. Aside from Brizzle we have struggled to create anything. Michael Owen is one of the best finishers in the country & he is struggling. Stick with Howard & Campbell but give them the right service. Howard cannot score when he gets balls lumped to him with his back to goal.
Muz Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Why have people got this perception of Fryatt being an awesome finisher? I'd stick with Deej and Howard. I dont think I could handle how slow the forward line would be with Howard and Fryatt. I rate DJ he never stops running and in the last few games he has caused opposition defences alot of problems. Cardiff away was his best game for us I would say , he ran rings round Purse and Johnson. Bring Fryatt on but please lord dont start him alongside Howard.

Why replace them why they are scoring 20 each a season and always looking like there gonna score. Hume and Fryatt make sence.

ASH17LCFC Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Hume and Deej.Makes more sense. Yes i wouldn't mind that, i think if we were winning and on form DJ would be scoring for fun. Howard needs dropping till we get a winger who has a good understanding with him.

Yes, we have seen this potential in the past but this season, quite frankly he's not shown any of it. Although maybe with the exception of his goal against Villa. DJ's wasted chances yes, ones that he should have definitely taken, I will admit that. But Fryatt has done exactly the same albeit from the bench. The thing with DJ is, he does offer a lot more options when going forward than Fryatt. He can move down the channels well and look to take it round a defender. Something Fryatt does struggle with as he often takes too many touches and fails to look up. I'm not against him having a go up frontl, but I wouldn't want to see it with Howard, I beleive that would be truly awful, I think we caught a bit at QPR away and it was bad! Maybe if he's given a run with Hume, they seem to have a good understanding of each other and it's worked in the past, but it would mean us completely alerting our style of play, which at this stage of the season is probably not wise.
