People are going to be very frustrated by Steve Howard at times, but then he'll have games like this where he has a blinder and leathers in the goals. It's the nature of how he is, a great big lummox that some games will look like a world beater and then others a useless donkey, but what's important is how many goals he scores and creates over the course of a season and his record proves that he'll always come up with 15-20 goals a season and we've never been blessed with strikers who can do that.

If we get the ball to Howard from crosses or with his back to goal then he'll cause teams a lot of problems, just like he did on Saturday.

Well done Stevie, rammed all that abuse down the goobers throats.

Howard wasn't isolated against West Brom, he had Hayles and Fryatt lingering around, whether that made the difference god knows!! But he won majority of his headers, and his passing was crisp, and his finishing wasn't too bad either!!!

I di notice one thig though, the link up play to Howard was alot better and Howard often pointed to the players where he wanted the ball, I suppose Ric is correct in saying the supply line must be avid for him to have success!!!

You're definitely right about the isolation bit. If there's no-one around him for him to lay the ball off to then it's times like that where he looks a useless donkey. His lack of pace and the fact he's a man mountain means it's easy to assume he's crap and past it when he doesn't get given any support. The technique for all threee of his finishes was text book old fashion centre forward finishing. Hit the ball hard with the laces on your boot and you won't go far wrong, I wish 'place and curl' shots Fryatt would take a leaf out of Stevie's book once in a while.

Fryatt needs a goal, he looks constipated in that department!! Once one comes out, it will all flood out, but I do agree, sometimes power is the better option!!!

I'm looking forward to saturday, I may be able to go, especially with that voucher option. I hope Hollway sticks with the same side and style of play!!!

Think Etuhu may come back in against Hull.

are you hoping for us to sign ronaldo or somthing?

so who WILL be good enough?

No... I just think that in general, up front, more pace is needed and although Steve scored a hat-trick last Saturday, it was about the first time that he's actually been good for us and that isn't good enough considering that he usually plays week in week out. Playing someone with pace like DJ or Hume or even Hayles to an extent up front with Fryatt would be better for the most part as Howard isn't going to do it very often. I'd love to be proven wrong though as for him to score regularly would be great! :D

steve howard???? what an absolut useless waste of money and space!!! what the heck does he do for us??? we just boot the ball up to him because he's big, then the useless twat loses it or slices the ball somewhere!!!! 3 goals in 19 games??? and 2 of those he scuffed!!!!! fryatt needs to start ahead of this donkey, ok i know fryatt missed a sitter tonight, but at least he has a go!! i know this sounds harsh but howard is a total waste of space and if he starts, we will go down

Have you ever wonder what Ian Holloway's game plan might be?

Steve Howard is a good player for us and he will score us more goals and he will help keep us up.
