Disturbing scenes yesterday at the 5 star Hilton Hotel located in the centre of Paris. A caravan of gypsies, led by British singer and King of the Gypsies David Essex tried unsuccessfully to set up camp in the foyer of the hotel.

Manager Jean Luc Bastardi takes up the story, "We washed them out with ze fire hoses and buckets of urine" laughed the Frenchman, "they soon left - but it was worrying that this many gypsies could arrive and park their buses and caravans so close to ze hotel".

Essex, who is now about 75, said, "hold me close don't let me go" he then said "do you need any pegs? Or maybe a lucky clover?"

Meanwhile in an unconnected story, socialite, dancer, booth babe, stripper, hooker, heiress, secret shopper, pin up, celebrity superstar, Paris Hilton said that her night of love making with a 'gaggle of pikeys' left her unable to walk for 3 days.

I find it hilarious that so many of you take the moral high ground when it comes to skin colour/religious sorts of comment, and then go and make comments like that.

Actually , this is quite a good point , regardless of the petty nature of the basil brush compaint.

I think this is because the type of social problems caused by gypsies, diddycoys pikeys etc are just as likely ( if not more so ) to be felt by the socially better off and wealthier classes

The worst effects and social upheavals caused by mass immigration usually affect the inner city , poorer working classes but gyppos have the audacity to wander into the heartlands, and they are more likely to be found nicking lady trumpington's tractor or removing the lead from st albion's roof rather than running the prostitution or drugs rings in the inner cities .

And of course this is an intolerable situation . isn't it ?

i suspect you offered this with a touch of glibness, but this is actually nonsense, nothing more than the perceived media-fed myth, i lived in the shitholes of north london and there was a massive camp, that was very badly kept and full of nasty intimidating people, also they used to camp in woodgate and near new parks - hardly Badgers Drift!

i'd be inclined to think, in the case of gypsies, that it is the majority giving the minority a bad name, which is a terrible shame, so far we've come up with a five-a-side team and some bloke in kyleolly's pub (loaded = no tax - )

and the difference between our stereotyping of gypsies and the example of black men=violent crime, is that, i guess, most have us have been hassled down gallowtree gate by gypsy women, whilst none of us have been violently attacked by black men (and i doubt you will find any statistics to support that BM=VC) - thus the gypsy example is a provable stereotype, the BM=VC is racist, as it is an assumption made based on ethnicity.

to be honest, whilst the 'dirty' issues are inevitable, i would guess (and this is my main complaint), i would guess why people resent gypsies so much is actually jealousy, jealous that they exempt themselves from taxation (mostly) and then expect the government to support them with them with our taxes.

I have some stats, from the stop and search part of my Civil Libs Module. Convictions for violent crime compared to the racial group are similar i.e. x% of black people are convicted, as are x% of white people when compared to the racial group, not the whole population. This still means that more white men are convicted than black, however a significantly higher proportion of stop and searches are carried out on black men than white.

and i never said that those living on camps didn't pay tax, my disclaimer was 'mostly' - i was refering to those who just turn up and demand tax-funded land and services
