Finnegan Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Is it that hard? Football's a pretty simple game. If you don't have the ball, you find some space, wave your arm around like a numpty and someone will pass it to you. T'int rocket science. Move, receive, pass, move. Easy. So why can't we do it? I've realised what Iain Hume and Lackzo Zsolt do that made them stand out, even when their end product was fucking gash; they moved. You can bemoan our delivery from the back today all you want, and you'd be right to do so - thump, straight to Hull, thump, straight to Hull, but you CANNOT expect to play passing football when there's no movement in the side. Hull were like watching Bolton there (no surprise, Mr. Brown) today. Did sod all. Tightly organized into two banks of four and closed down at every opportunity. Nice, but we made it ludicrously easy for them. It must have been like marking up a team full of cripples today. You don't have to have pace to be dynamic (though it helps.) It isn't that Iain Hume's fast that he can get away from his marker, it's just that he looks up and runs into space. Best game I've seen us play this year was Coventry and it was one of the few games I've seen us actually look dynamic and it's no coincidence for me that one of Oakley's best games in a city shirt came when people around him were actually looking to make runs.

Spot on. I thought that they needed a big kick up the arse at HT from Ollie. Obviously that never happend.
Monk Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Completely agree we were static as hell today. It's easy to blame the defence for hoofing it but a lot of the time they had no option.
FleckneyFox Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 TBH all Hull have is one "gamebreaker" in Fraizer Campbell and just a load of average players
lildave3 Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Completely agree and it's been a massive problem all season.
Moreton Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Fraizer Campbell's a bastard. One thing to say about that. Saw loser. we cant go around saying things like this. Chin up
davieG Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 TBH all Hull have is one "gamebreaker" in Fraizer Campbell and just a load of average players All the players in this league are average but what Hull have mangaged to do is to get them to play as a team and do the simple things well. We can't even pass the ball to a team mate and when we do we stand there admiring the work as if we'd just performed a miracle - correction for us it is a fooking miracle. It does us no credit to denigrate a team that has just pissed all over us by deriding them as average when we are turd stuck on an hairy arse!
Simi Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 As soon as we go a goal down we completely lose every half decent aspect about us. Not that we had much before today, but we weren't being outplayed. Hull were an industrial side who worked for each other. It's that very thing that will get you out this league. Hard work and a half decent striker. End of. As for the movement. It's completely non existent. As I said, we just seem to lose our ways and throw everyone forward with the expectation we'll just get chances falling to our feet. When McAuley and Kisnorbo had the ball, they didn't have anyone offering them an option short, or wide we'd instead, run away and make them look long. Although I am not for a second excusing the centre halves from the blame because they've been doing it for months. Pass and ****ing move. Not pass and stare. It's fecking schoolboy stuff. Fryatt is always so quick to stand in the most insane place ever to receive the ball and then do nothing when he gets it. As are Oakley and Stearman at times. I'm sick to death of the lack of ideas and patience when we're trying to get back into a game. It's basic knowledge that you have to build pressure and momentum. You do that by maintaining possession and we just cannot seem to manage that.
Father Ted Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Fraizer Campbell's a diving cheating cheeky bastard.
Finnegan Posted 22 March 2008 Author Posted 22 March 2008 Fraizer Campbell might very well be the first ever person to be awarded a free kick for practicing the long-jump
Staf Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 I agree we were so static today they were so much more lively we were so slow and didnt seem interested it really was hard to watch they clearly wanted it more than us it really was a horrific game from a leicester fans point of view.
Ozwin Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Fraizer Campbell's a diving cheating cheeky bastard. Oh amen to that!
reynard Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 TBH all Hull have is one "gamebreaker" in Fraizer Campbell and just a load of average players All of whom made our "stars" look crap today. Wish we had a striker half as good as fraizer Campbell.
Flynny Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 It's partly movement, true, but thats much less of a problem than it was. Our big problem is looking for a killer pass instantly rather than passing into space and moving. Hendrie and Oakley DO put themselves into space in the middle of the park, but no-one uses them at all, they'd much rather try and lump a clever ball into space near one of our strikers or, more often, onto Howard's head.
Ultra Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Fraizer Campbell's a bastard. He's obviously learnt a lot from training with Ronaldo though..

But we did this last week as well, although we were helped by the opposition being a man down. Hayles and Fryatt stayed on their wings last week though, something they never did today. The attitude and motivation of the team was found wanting. That's happened far too often under Holloway. It's what leads me to believe we should bring in another manager, before it's too late.
Head Honcho Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 TBH all Hull have is one "gamebreaker" in Fraizer Campbell and just a load of average players So we are just missing a gamebreaker then
Thracian Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Thje penalty looked spot on to me. But the penalty was saved and did that spur us on - not a bit. Instead we gifted them the softest of second goals.

Joe. Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Yep, and it's been a problem for the last three seasons. They say football's an easy game. And it really can be in a way if the players actually ****ing moved for each other. So, so frustrating.
