skinnydipper Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 It occurs to me that perversely,Ollie may be more likely to be here next season if we get relegated. Whether the team stays up by the odd point or goes down is likely to have little effect on Mandaric's overall assessment of the manager's performance - he will conclude that it's nowhere near good enough, particularly with the players at Ollie's disposal. However if we stay up it will be far easier to attract decent candidates because of the likely availability of some spending money for the new man and the possibility (in theory at least) of Premiership football after one season. If we go down, the pool of decent managers wanting to come to us as a League 1 club shrinks with the possibility that there is no one available who is better than our current manager ; the result being that Ollie keeps his job ..... by default.
jumbo mills Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I would be surprised if Iain dowie doesnt come in at some point, we are constantly linked with him. No smoke without fire and all that
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I would be surprised if Iain dowie doesnt come in at some point, we are constantly linked with him. No smoke without fire and all that Not if "El lupo" comes through on the hit. Start saving now, in the event that we need to pool together to take out a sontract!
josh_baskin Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I couldnt go yesterday but was listening on the radio, but what frustrated me was he seemed to make every tactical decision Steve Walsh suggested about twenty min after he suggested it.

I think you're getting frustrated about the wrong thing in that sentence.
p.po40 Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I think this twat should be sacked now never mind in the summer.
Uncle Monty Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I couldnt go yesterday but was listening on the radio, but what frustrated me was he seemed to make every tactical decision Steve Walsh suggested about twenty min after he suggested it. Walshie's av' it brand of football would not work

A bit like QPR then, gets them relegated then appears to be a hero when he gets them back up. Once back up though he would again show that he's little more than a childrens entertainer and out of his depth. Yet again yesterday, different line up, different formation. The players have no stability whatsoever. My theory of why he was doing ok at Plymouth is that there was no money, few players, and that he nearly always had to play 4-4-2 with the few palyers he'd got he'd got. Ollie is absolutely woeful and just because we all crave a bit of stability manager wise for a change, it doesn't mean that sticking with a numptey like him will make us successful! If we go down I for one will not be renewing my season ticket til he's gone. For that matter, there would have been more honour in going down with what we'd got before the hapless Mandaric came and proved that he knows far less about football than he thinks he does. It was luck Portsmouth got where they did with him and he nearly cocked that up until he went begging back to 'Arry'!
Daggers Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Time to take some people to class... Maslow's Heirachy of Needs Maslow postulated that the above bands of needs and wants dictates how humans behave, what dictates how they act and respond. Briefly, source here: a. Physiological Needs: for food, drink, air, sleep, sex-the basic bodily “tissue” requirements.b. Safety Needs: for security, stability, protection from harm or injury; need for structure, orderliness, law, predictability; freedom from fear and chaos. c. Belongingness and Love Needs: for abiding devotion and warm affection with spouse, children, parents, and close friends; need to feel a part of social groups; need for acceptance and approval. d. Esteem Needs: for self-esteem based on achievement, mastery, competence, confidence, freedom, independence; desire for esteem of others (reputation, prestige, recognition, status). e. Self-Actualization Needs: for self-fulfillment, actually to become what you potentially can be; desire to actualize your capabilities; being true to your essential nature; what you can be you must be. Our playing staff have been thrown back into band 'b' over and over again this season. Holloway should not be sacked. If he is then I will be spending my afternoons tending the garden and watching football elsewhere in the lower reaches of the league system. Those of you calling for his head as a knee-jerk reaction to fears of relegation need to get a grip.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I can't see Holloway surviving the summer unless we win all three games in style. In summary, I can't see Holloway surviving the summer.

Sly Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I want rid even if he stays up, Ollie is a nob! Maybe a tad harsh. I'll admit I'm not his biggest fan and he hasn't showered himself in glory since his arrival but lets assess a few things here. Surely it tells you something if 4 or 5 managers with proven reputations can't get things right ....maybe we have to many fingers in the pie?
Naboo Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Ollie isn't the man to take this club forwards. But he is easily the best candidate to take it backwards. Unless Peter Taylor took over.
teblin Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Headling from mercury " Ollie rues misses " He's even blaming his wife now!
Nick Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I have a sneaking suspicion it will be Steve McLaren in the summer........... PIANO WIRE FOR SALE - reduced prices for LCFC fans..... N.
