Ric Flair Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 I can forsee no reason why this is taking place tonight, i'm surprised Liverpool aren't going wild about this as it means Chelsea have extra time to prepare for the Champions League Match next week.
Geo V Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 It is strange but at least Liverpool will know what sort of line-up to play at Fulham on Saturday if Everton get dicked.
Ric Flair Posted 17 April 2008 Author Posted 17 April 2008 One word: SKY But is that really the reason? SKY can show the game on a Saturday if they wanted.
lavrentis Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 But is that really the reason? SKY can show the game on a Saturday if they wanted. I thought they couldn't show games on Saturday, well not at 3pm. But it's just probably to get more people to watch Sky.
Ric Flair Posted 17 April 2008 Author Posted 17 April 2008 I thought they couldn't show games on Saturday, well not at 3pm. But it's just probably to get more people to watch Sky. They can show games at 12.45 and 5.15, which i'm sure they are undoubtedly doing as well. But is this game tonight really necessary?
Sparky Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Chelsea were not happy about playing tonight as its just 3 days after the Wigan match. Nobody from Chelsea will be talking to Sky pundits/interviewers tonight as a protest
SamL Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 It's not a very good idea in my book. This is a classic example of how Sky are ruining the game and the big influence they actually have over it. I agree with Chelsea over this one. It's a bit harsh on them but at least they have an extra few days to prepare for the Liverpool game
JoeyB Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Chelsea were not happy about playing tonight as its just 3 days after the Wigan match. Nobody from Chelsea will be talking to Sky pundits/interviewers tonight as a protest And the difference between playing on saturday and tuesday and sunday and wednesday is????? :: stupid protest from chelsea imo
dandannieldanok Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 It is unreasnoable and irrational of Sky to schedule this game like it is, but as many pundits and other people have said, Chelsea and the rest of the Premier League clubs are happy to accept the TV rights money.
Floating Fox Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Chelsea were not happy about playing tonight as its just 3 days after the Wigan match. Nobody from Chelsea will be talking to Sky pundits/interviewers tonight as a protest They've also paid for coaches & trains for all travelling fans with the money they are getting from sky.
lildave3 Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 They've also paid for coaches & trains for all travelling fans with the money they are getting from sky. Not a bad gesture. Still seems remarkably odd from Sky though, I can't recall them ever showing a game on a Thursday before?
Floating Fox Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Not a bad gesture.Still seems remarkably odd from Sky though, I can't recall them ever showing a game on a Thursday before? Probably because Setanta have got a Saturday slot or something daft...I don't know why exactly though....
Simi Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 But is that really the reason? SKY can show the game on a Saturday if they wanted. Yes it is Sky. They control this league. Chelsea are protesting tonight.
Simi Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 And the difference between playing on saturday and tuesday and sunday and wednesday is?????:: stupid protest from chelsea imo How is it? People from London have to travel to Merseyside on a Thursday night as opposed to a normal Saturday or Sunday game. It's ridiculous that Sky can get away with this.
Koke Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Fair play to Chelsea though. They using the TV money to pay the expenses of their traveling support.
