Legend_in_blue Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 He made a big judgement error when paying for howard instead of fulop, every leics fan I have spoken to agrees with me fulop has been the best keeper we had since flowers. However hendrie is good and bell, problem is they both loans and not signings. One could argue that the service to Howard has been sub-standard. Is this in any way Howard's fault? Would a striker of greater ability make better use of the service he has been given? I can't recollect many times Howard has failed to score from a good chance in open play and/or from a set piece. Fryatt on the other hand...
shen Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 He made a big judgement error when paying for howard instead of fulop, every leics fan I have spoken to agrees with me fulop has been the best keeper we had since flowers. However hendrie is good and bell, problem is they both loans and not signings. Bell is tied up on a permanent deal when the transfer window reopens. To be fair though, Henderson and Alnwick have done OK, and it's not been our most pressing problem. Spending the whole budget on a goalie would have been brain-dead. He did the right thing and got two proven players with promotion experience at this level in for a combined sum of £2mil, and brought in a decent keeper on loan, a couple of lively Hungarians and an experienced left-back along with a promising impact player. On top of that he gets a combative and skillful midfielder in and finally a proper footballer that can play on the right wing. On paper, his dealings have been quite sound really. I don't think anyone could've done a whole lot better...

But at least he gets chances frequently which Howard doesn't seem to be doing just as much.
Chrysalis Posted 25 April 2008 Posted 25 April 2008 Fulop was a realiable keeper something teams take for granted and it gives the defence confidence and are less likely to panic.
kendalfox Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 After today's result, I'd like to sign up to the 'Ollie Out' campaign – can anyone tell me how and where to do this? The chap has had his chance, it should be clear to anyone that we are a worse team than when he took over. All this nonsense about not having his own players is crap as far as I am concerned. He may have inherited a poor squad, but he hasn't done anything of merit with them. In fact it has got worse, and the players he has brought in generally have not performed. He just hasn't done well enough to earn another chance. He may well be a decent manager, but not for Leicester, not here, not now. Whichever league we are in next season, we need a new manager, a fresh start and a new squad. I'd be tempted to say we need a new owner too, but who'd buy Leicester in these times?
Finnegan Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I've stuck by Ollie all through his reign. But if he takes us down having had well over half the season to himself, I really can't see how we can possibly keep him. He's clearly lost the plot, he doesn't seem to have the bottle for it at all.
lookwhaticando Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I'd like to hear FilboFox's views on this matter. Again.
wurmer Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Holloway based on stats is the 3rd worst manager we'ved had. Omitting managers who were in charge for less than 10 games, ranked in order of % points gained from possible, starting from the botton of the pile..... Manager Name Played - % of possible Actual points Frank McLintock 37 24 22% Dave Bassett 01 27 20 25% Ian Holloway 32 34 35% Bryan Hamilton 71 78 37% Gordon Lee 20 23 38% Craig Levein 72 86 40% Mark McGhee 51 62 41% Peter Taylor 54 66 41% Jimmy Bloomfield 264 324 41% David Pleat 153 191 42% Gordon Milne 177 229 43% Rob Kelly 63 82 43% Jock Wallace 169 234 46% Martin O'Neill 223 323 48% Micky Adams 111 161 48% Brian Little 178 272 51% Interesting and fits where we are....

McLintock and Bassett's were both in the top division.
maddog Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 If we win next week we are safe. Theres no way Blackpool, Cov, Sheff Wednesday and Southampton are going to win their remaining games. Win next week and we are 99.9% safe. Lose and we rely on Southampton to lose their last 2 games. Draw and we rely on either Southampton only getting 2 points or less from their last 2 games or Wednesday losing their last match.
Chrysalis Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 southampton need at least 1 win, if they draw one game and we lose both they go down on goal difference. Holloways record really is truly shocking when you consider the other 2 managers were in a higher division and kelly had little money to spend but got a better win %.
Zingari Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 from the bolton news mandaric "I hired a proper guy in Gary Megson," the Foxes supremo reflected, lamenting Leicester's struggles in the Championship. "He knows his business and has tremendous capabilities of getting teams out of this division. If Bolton do go down, Megson will get them back up. He's firm, disciplined, organised. He gets the best out of players." http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/display.var.2227344.0..php sounds like a back handed swipe at ollie to me

But at the end of the day, I desperately want to get out of this division. I would work with the devil if he could get me what I wanted." Looks like he's gonna sodding get what he wants, wrong direction though.. sigh...
