Jack Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 I think Brown played very well tonight. In fact he has had a very good season. A good player to have in your team, can play right back as well as centre back and looks comfortable in both. IMO I think he deserves a shot at Cb for England.
Joe. Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 They're both special players. Ronaldo just edges Messi at the moment in terms of his all round game but he's never in a different league to him.
lildave3 Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Brown had a great game tonight yes but you have to admit he's a liability at times. He's really not that good at all in my opinion, definitely not England quality. But fair play to him this season, he seems to have had a decent one. Well Micah Richards aside, who is England quality then?
Uncle Albert Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Ruuuuuuubbbish. Ronaldo just did a step over and rolled it under his boot. Ronaldo is a good player, I agree with you, but he had a fairly quiet night tonight and just grafted a result out with the rest of his team. A fairly mature performance, I thought. To call him in an all together different league as Messi is absolute ignorance. Not at all. Messi is a talented player, but to say he is even close to Ronaldo is a disgrace. Messi get's to the box and the majority of the times fail's to deliver. Where as Ronaldo does deliver and 30+ goals this season proves this. Messi is very overated.
Joe. Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Well Micah Richards aside, who is England quality then? That's the thing. There isn't anybody else currently good enough (and fit enough) to play right back for England in my opinion.
lildave3 Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 That's the thing. There isn't anybody else currently good enough (and fit enough) to play right back for England in my opinion. So surely that makes him current England quality then? Unless we're holding out for the new Cafu.
Uncle Albert Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 That's the thing. There isn't anybody else currently good enough (and fit enough) to play right back for England in my opinion. Jamie Carragher, if he can do it for Liverpool in the San Siro he can do it for England against Belarus.
WetFlannel Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 That's the thing. There isn't anybody else currently good enough (and fit enough) to play right back for England in my opinion. Jamie Carragher? Massively under-rated international wise.
lildave3 Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Jamie Carragher? Massively under-rated international wise. Well he's retired so that rules him out.
Finnegan Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Not at all. Messi is a talented player, but to say he is even close to Ronaldo is a disgrace. Do you actually watch Spanish football? Hell, did you even watch the game tonight? Messi is a consistent threat, you shouldn't write Messi off because he failed to break down a world class, Premiership winning team that sat and defended with two back fours for seventy out of ninety minutes. It's far easier to look like a miracle worker in an outfit like Manchester United. Far less so in a shambolic Barcelona surviving on reputation alone. They've no decent dieticians, their physiotherapy is years behind, their players are largely unfit - mentally and physically - they're poorly looked after, half of them are on the piss every night. Barcelona is a club in chaos, and the fact the kid still shines so strongly is an emphatic sign of footballing brilliance, imo.
Jack Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Jamie Carragher? Massively under-rated international wise. Retired from International though, didn't he ?
Joe. Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Jamie Carragher's the best centre back in the Premiership for me. I'm not sure about his right back abilties but I'd certainly play him ahead of Wes Brown there.
WetFlannel Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 He has retired but I just though it would be worth a mention. Only because previous England managers would barely give him a bit-part role.

According to seome Liverpool fans (granted, these were 606'ers and therefore retarded/glory fans/retarded glory fans), he's not even the best centre back at the club anymore. I certainly don't think he's the best cb in prem anyway.

Yes I watch Messi go through some 38 year old shit defender against Mallorca, thats brilliant. Face it Ronaldo is a far better player than Messi and will be like that for along long time.
Finnegan Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 It's all about Pique. He's great on Football Manager. Yes I watch Messi go through some 38 year old shit defender against Mallorca, thats brilliant. Oh and I don't suppose Ronaldo has ever scored against a Derby or a Fulham or a Wigan? He saves all his goals for beating only world class defences? Grow up, you don't have an argument here at all. You're trying to argue that one of the best, if not the best, under twenty one player on the face of the planet is some over-rated blip. I appreciate this clip might be somewhat over-played, but this just undisputable class.
Joe. Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 He has retired but I just though it would be worth a mention. Only because previous England managers would barely give him a bit-part role. Because he was treated like shit by the previous England managers and he eventually just got fed up. When he was being overlooked everytime Terry, Ferdinand and others were getting injured I don't blame him at all.
Jack Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 I certainly don't think he's the best cb in prem anyway. Me neither. Don't get me wrong he is a good defender, there are quite a few better than him though in the league.

Skrtel and Agger in a few years time. They will run the show.
Sods Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Well now Barce are out im looking at Liverpool to hopefully pull off a remarkable win against Chelsea and stop United.
Bryn Posted 29 April 2008 Posted 29 April 2008 Carragher best centre-back in the Prem? He makes average look good. He's rock solid, dependable and tidy but he's not classy. He's behind Vidic, Ferdinand, Agger and probably Skrtel, if not Woodgate, a fit Ledley King and others as well.

If there's danger he'll clear it simple as. If he has the chance to pass it he'll give the ball to a midfielder. Unlike Rio Ferdinand who will attempt a 40 yard pass that he can't do.
